  1. Retarded. Stop canceling games. Play em. Done with this bs...

  2. What it tells me is that around 6 out of every 10 who enter do not belong in college. This is about four players for every team in D1. The number isn't unrealistic. It's approximately 5% of every team's scholarship players. The drop out rate for American college students in general is much higher because they do not have the same tutoring and financial services as an athlete-student. https://whattobecome.com/blog/college-dropout-rate/ For example, a guy is flunking out somewhere and thinks he will be smarter at another school. One doesn't get smarter through the transfer portal. The other schools know the guy is a moron after spending ten seconds with him getting a look at his transcripts so nobody offers a scholarship. The majority of kids entering the portal would be better described as "college drop outs".

  3. This is all just becoming such a joke. So ridiculous.

  4. Please stop comparing SARS-CoV-2 to influenza and flu-like viruses. It's not even close to a similar comparison. Rhinoviruses, RSVs, and Parainfluenza viruses are responsible for "the common cold" and comparing them to Coronaviruses is laughably ignorant. Like, not even the same phylogenetic branches of the viral clades, or in how they interact with our cells and how the immune system develops antibodies for them. Having similar symptoms does not equal similarity.

  5. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaafb/college-football-world-reacts-to-transfer-portal-news/ar-AASddTj?ocid=msedgntp I found this article. If true, the statistics are staggering and should deter athletes from entering the portal.

  6. I believe Clark is referring to the ones that are getting covid severe enough that they need to be hospitalized. The numbers I've seen reported range anywhere from 66%-85% of hospitalizations are from the unvaccinated.

  7. Ugh, and the beat goes on. ....and largely unvaccinated.

  8. We're back, baby! Start up the thread Clark.

  9. YES! OUR ENTERTAINMENT MUST BE PLACED ABOVE ALL! πŸ™„ On behalf of the exhausted and understaffed clinical hospital workers across NEOH (and everywhere else), please do your best to make decisions to try and stay extra safe out there during these next few weeks. Be especially careful if you've chosen to remain unvaccinated. I look forward to seeing our Zips back on the court when it's safe for them, and for the rest of the public. Hopefully getting through this mess now gets us a better chance at having a smooth month of March for college basketball.

  10. Drive-in testing location, you can schedule it with any of the local pharmacies. PCR is the way to go if you really want to know. I did not have it when I got sick earlier this year this winter. How they get the numbers is from the PCR tests, or the diagnosis from a professional consultation per the CDC guidelines. The at-home tests are for personal records, they aren't reported.

  11. This guy was a real stud coming out of HS at Stow. He was a 3-star DE. But man, has he put on a lot of weight. Coming out of HS he was listed at 6-2 245 but now Toledo lists him as a 6-2 305 DT. That's an awful lot of weight to pack on, isn't it? Idk, but at the very least he's a local DL who we can keep an eye on.

  13. There are a few nasty bugs going around. I've known a few people, including my sister, who had a weeks long bad cold and were tested for everything. I think the protocol is don't go to ER unless you are having trouble breathing.

  14. I wouldn't go to the emergency room. You don't want to expose others to it if you have it. Not to mention the long waiting times. Just before Thanksgiving I was a close contact and was feeling a little sick. I didn't think I had covid (which turned out to be accurate), but wanted to make sure as the last thing I wanted to do was give it to my family on Thanksgiving. I scheduled an appointment with The Liberty Clinic in Belden Village for a rapid test. I didn't even have to leave my car. They ran someone out to me to test me. My insurance also covered the cost. It took all of a few minutes. You can do an at home test too, but I don't have any experience with that.

  15. Thank you for this succinct and factual explanation. As someone working in medicine, the constant minimizing of the pandemic and comparisons to the flu are profoundly frustrating. The world is dealing with a new virus that we still don't understand how it affects the brain (loss of taste/smell in the parietal lobe), and the cardiovascular system (stroke, cardiomyopathy). No, games aren't being canceled because of kids getting the flu. Games are being canceled out of an abundance of caution with hope of minimizing potential lifelong complications from a novel virus on young, healthy athletes. Bottom line for us as fans is that we're frustrated with cancelation of events that we find entertaining. A minor inconvenience.

  16. LeBron is as ignorant as Karen Rodgers. I'll take my understanding of science from people who actually graduated from college. πŸ˜‰

  17. Data from the CDC: Unvaccinated: 451 cases per 100k Vaccinated: 134 cases per 100k Boosted: 48 cases per 100k Unvaccinated: 6.1 deaths per 100k Vaccinated: 0.5 deaths per 100k Boosted: 0.1 deaths per 100k With the rate of mutation we see in SARS-CoV-2 the only way to increase the chance of not contracting new strains is boosting. Though the level of protection given from Vaccines and Boosters is undeniable.

  18. Payout for CMU and the MAC jumped from 350k to 4.5 mil during the Chipps' bus ride from Tucson to El Paso! Not sure, but that must compete with past MAC New Years Day bowl game checks! Sun Bowl has always been my favorite scenic bowl game with that historic rock "M" (for UTEP Miners) on the slope outside the stadium. It does seem rather ironic that Miami had to drop out with Covid, when Wazzou had the only head coach to be fired during the season for refusing to be vaccinated -- my old beer and pizza guzzling partner from his Hawai'i QB days, Nick Rolovich.

  19. Yeah. I think NIU is the issue for Saturday. Just have to roll with it.

  20. MAC is still using the outdated Covid guidelines. Expect that to change soon.

  21. Not really. I have multiple vaccinated employees that have caught Omicron. That includes me.

  22. And now allegedly open the MAC against Ohio on 1/4. Groce clearly isn't getting it thru to his players that they need to think of their teammates and the program and be careful. Unbelievable. I think Toledo and Ball State didn't miss a game last year because of COVID on their team, not that it helped them much in March

  23. Per you tube, Bryan McClendon Oregon's offensive assistant will be the Head Coach for the Ducks in the Alamo Bowl.

  24. The MAC is horrendous this year and Akron laid a stinker down in Florida. Unless 100+ teams would pull out there is no way Akron would even be in the conversation for an at-large.

  25. Washington State and Central Michigan were both in Arizona to play in separate bowl games. Both their opponents canceled out because of covid so they just decided to play each other. :-)
