Congratulations to Richie Laryea. Richie has always wanted to play in Europe Richie turned a 4 year deal to remain with Toronto FC (deal would have more than tripled his 2021 salary). There's enough chatter about Zip Baseball (and alumni) to warrant a yearly thread. IMHO. Yes there's at least six inches of snow on the ground at the moment, but college baseball is a month away. This season the ball team makes a trip to warmer weather (Tennessee and Georgia) for the first couple weeks. Then a weekend in Louisville before getting into MACtion. Throw in a couple games against BW, Malone, and as zippy-claws mentioned, a Monday night game at Canal Park against Georgia Tech and we have 15 non-conference games, 55 games in all. All depending on how COVID continues to shred the sports schedules. The Zips in the Pros. The latest rumors have Chris Bassett being traded to the Yankees, a favorite to win the AL East. I think it is a huge fad right now. While it will always be around, I can see the volume declining over the years because I think for most kids it won't solve the problem they believe they are using it to solve, whatever that may be.

I think there's a "the grass is greener" aspect to the portal, with 20 year old kids making hasty decisions thinking they're going to a better place where they'll be more appreciated. At 57 I certainly have a different perspective than a college kid. If I was a legitimate D1 football player at UA from the Arth era (I'd be in the minority. LOL) my thought would be that this is a program to soon be on the upswing with legitimate coaches that could help my future with immediately available playing time. Stay and flourish rather than relocate with uncertainty.

Nope. but agree, he looks the part for a DT. Pretty damn big at 330. Would be our biggest player on the roster by 15 lbs, and he'll only be a true freshman. He sure penetrates and disrupts the pocket watching his film, but IDK anything about his level of competition.

94zipgrad is on the right path- some of our announced commits are already enrolled- they may participate in this weekend’s doings but they are committed in the sense they have already enrolled; other announced commits are here with family to cement their decision and meet people, see facilities, etc. There is a third group that are not committed and, hopefully, some/many will commit tomorrow. To have no new info tonight is not a problem- they are busy. To have no new commitments by this time tomorrow will be more of an issue. Hopefully we will have some positive developments in the next 24 hours. Go Zips!
