I was able to attend, but only caught the 2nd half. There was so much traffic on the way from Columbus. A few thoughts off the top of my head: - The offense is ahead of the defense at this point, but the defense was mostly playing out of its base. - Offensively, a lot of RPOs and getting the ball out on the perimeter. - Irons and Marousek had their moments, but also some passes that made you scratch your head. - Wiley is very strong in the lower body. He’s elusive, hits the hole quickly, and will run through arm tackles. - Williams looked great catching the ball out of the backfield. He should excel in this offense. - Singleton and Walker looked sharp running routes and have playmaking ability. - Defensively, no one really stood out. I probably missed most of the starters in the first half. Part of that was due to the offense getting the ball out quickly and both OLs looked solid. Blue OL from Left to Right: Daniels, Banes, Georges, Robarge, Williams White OL from Left to Right: Gray, Lyons, Beckman, Kilbane, Chambers - Defensively, we mostly played a 4 man front with either 1 edge standing or both edge players standing. Due to multiple WRs in almost every set, it was usually a MIKE LB and a WILL LB, with the WILL often matched up against the closest inside WR. That’s all I have. I would have loved to have something to report from the first half, but alas it wasn’t meant to be. ... the Info was built ... for football. It isn't that hard. Change the time of LAX or move it to Friday or Sunday. Could/should have been done long ago. They made a big splash with the Moorhead hire and failed to capitalize on that.3 points

Just seems like a bad idea from a marketing standpoint. Geez, it's a new era. Generate some enthusiasm be getting fans back in the stadium on a nice spring day. Might even sell a few season tickets. I know there have been much worse weather days for spring games. I've been to a couple of them. Gonna be tough to create close to the same atmosphere in the field house. I guess I'll enjoy the weather watching some of the baseball and softball.3 points

Love the move by JoeMo. Atmosphere in the field house was great, and the game itself was simple and quick. I thought Irons looked pretty good. Ant Williams and Cam Wiley looked great out of the backfield. Adams and Grimes all over the place in the secondary. Bubba stuck out to me on offense. Norrils could’ve been better. I like the direction of this team, and today was a great day to be a Zip! Hopefully the guys can put a lot of good work in this summer, this is going to be a special few years.2 points

I too am out of town and I am jealous of all of you who could attend. I hope you all got Bowden Football Camp t-shirts in the grab bags you bought from the equipment sale!2 points

Not putting the program’s best out there to try to increase community interest. Die hard Zips football fans who stomached iCoach and Arth are unaffected. They’ve already shown an ability beyond compare to put up with the worst. Field House v Stadium is minor to them. When trying to build outside interest, advanced planning to open all seating areas of Infocision Stadium for a free Spring Football Game on a nice Spring day would have been a great way to show case the program and start building new relationships. Not saying that is not happening in other ways but I see this Spring Game in the Field House as a missed opportunity. .2 points

The Ohio North-South All-Star Game is tomorrow in Massillon at noon. Future Zips QB Dijon Jennings will be one of 2 South QB's.2 points

Another scholly opens up for a player that can be a bit more productive in our system. I very much appreciated how Michael responded to the adversity throughout the year, and made a huge push to contribute by the end of the season. However, he was a liability on offense. We need offense.2 points

Give me a break man. I'm optimistic for the future of Zips football, but we are going to be nowhere near ready to compete with a team like Army next year, much less Tennessee. This is a process. We'll be lucky to approach .500 in MAC play next year. Get back down to earth and let the new staff build the program.2 points

As I understand it May 1st is the deadline to enter the portal without having to sit out a year. This means we should theoretically be done seeing players transfer out. Groce now needs to work his magic and land us 2 forwards to fill out the roster.1 point

I attended all the events and the football game was the least enjoyable. The game apparently started early, was cramped and crowded and I stayed for a very short time. I guess one of the reasons for holding it inside is the condition of the turf outside. I'll accept that since I know it is being replaced in a few weeks. It was a nice day to be outside and watch the other events. 🙂1 point

Moorhead wanted it inside also. If he wanted it outside, they would have made it work. I am bummed, but I get it. I would imagine it has to do with practicing inside for every practice so far, and the turf at the stadium is sh*t compared to the field house. Plus lax. It’s a great day to be a Zip whether they’re in Infocision or the Norton Middle School auditorium.1 point

Couple of things, i don’t think he is even 6 foot tall & academics but he is definitely strong1 point

JoeMo guy - Martin Emerson - just drafted by the Browns. Physical DB. I expect to see several Akron players get drafted over the next 4 years at least.1 point

Completely forgot about Boateng. Good call. Aside from Bubba, I've really written off most Arth players as FCS caliber at best. Boateng is certainly a stud and makes me feel better. Him, Terry(?) from Buffalo, and Arslenian are actually a nice group. Would like one more, though.1 point

There's no perfect spot for this, but our old friend Dru Joyce is moving on from CSU. He interviewed for the head job and was offered a spot on the new staff but apparently has been offered an assistant job with a bigger program.1 point

Just noticed an interesting/discouraging fact: The Zips are the only D1 team that has a losing record against non D1 teams. Ouch. Stop playing non D1 teams, Please. https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/baseball/d1/rpi Here's how to solve it; drop the 3 non D1 teams, replace them with ( a home and home) against three of the closest/worst non-MAC D1 teams - pick from Team Current Rank Miles from Akron YSU 223 51 Oakland 242 192 Purdue Fort Wayne 244 210 Northern Kentucky 228 2430 points
