Seems like some honest conversations were had between coach and players following the spring game.

PCCC did sign a small forward, Chris Payton, who's tape unfortunately caught my eye. He's quite athletic. Verbal Commits Chris Payton He's a transfer from Pitt. In keeping with rich and long standing KSUcks tradition, who wants to bet he's a punk?

We just beat KSUcks 7-3 to even the weekend series at 2 games each.

I was able to attend, but only caught the 2nd half. There was so much traffic on the way from Columbus. A few thoughts off the top of my head: - The offense is ahead of the defense at this point, but the defense was mostly playing out of its base. - Offensively, a lot of RPOs and getting the ball out on the perimeter. - Irons and Marousek had their moments, but also some passes that made you scratch your head. - Wiley is very strong in the lower body. He’s elusive, hits the hole quickly, and will run through arm tackles. - Williams looked great catching the ball out of the backfield. He should excel in this offense. - Singleton and Walker looked sharp running routes and have playmaking ability. - Defensively, no one really stood out. I probably missed most of the starters in the first half. Part of that was due to the offense getting the ball out quickly and both OLs looked solid. Blue OL from Left to Right: Daniels, Banes, Georges, Robarge, Williams White OL from Left to Right: Gray, Lyons, Beckman, Kilbane, Chambers - Defensively, we mostly played a 4 man front with either 1 edge standing or both edge players standing. Due to multiple WRs in almost every set, it was usually a MIKE LB and a WILL LB, with the WILL often matched up against the closest inside WR. That’s all I have. Outside of marousek and Bischoff, I see Jake Miller, Bryce Proffitt, Kyle Bischoff, and Connor Francz. All new ones not previously mentioned in here are walkons as far as i know.

I supported the decision to have it indoors as the program is not yet ready to address and reveal our pee poor game attendance. The product is the program's primary focus. Improve that and the fans will come. #Patience

I can’t speak to Jankowski as I missed him play in the first half, but like I mentioned earlier, I was surprised by the lack of zip Marousek had on his passes. He got the ball to his receivers well enough, but we would likely struggle if he had to play meaningful minutes for an extended amount of time. Irons has the ability to make most throws, but he’s inconsistent. We definitely need another talented QB to compete with Irons for starting minutes. You’re right about the portal. It isn’t going to work out for hundreds of players. Spots are at a premium with the 85 scholarship limit being restored. Sooner or later, the portal will gain some balance as we are seeing an extreme version of transfers this year.

I looked in the portal early this morning and did not see Marousek liste. Maybe I did a poor search. I predicted this transfer a couple of months ago and got beat up by the Nation. As I said at the time, I would not be surprised if Jankowski also transfers. These players have got to learn that the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. The top players from the top programs can transfer at will, but most MAC players cannot always find a better situation. As I posted in the past, these players need to get some good leadership and advice from their parents and counselors. The successful percentage of transfer portal players has been posted several times by others than me. These kids need to look at the numbers. My take away is how poorly students today understand math. Go Zips!!!

The majority of sets I saw in the 2nd half were out of 11 personnel. Usually with the TE lined up at what would be around wingback depth. I don’t recall seeing the TE split out like JoeMo likes to do at times. I don’t think I saw more than 5 or 6 different plays ran in the the second half. Most were just variations off the same play calls.

Keylen Davis was at the game today and introduced as a 2022 signee at halftime. So probably safe to add him as it sounds like he just wasn’t an early enrollee.

... the Info was built ... for football. It isn't that hard. Change the time of LAX or move it to Friday or Sunday. Could/should have been done long ago. They made a big splash with the Moorhead hire and failed to capitalize on that.

Zippy is an amazing mascot-- off the charts, best in class (not just a statement but an actual designation that Zippy won). It is perhaps the single best known and loved element of UA in the community. I think the branding should revolve around "Akron" because that is who we are and no one knows us well- abstracting a little known brand is a terrible idea. I also think the nickname "Zip" is terrible and frankly has always been embarrassing. The only good thing about it was Zippy the mascot. Putin is going to do all he can to corrupt "Z" and make it a symbol of evil in the world. They are using it throughout Russia to rally them to this horrific cause-- and the Russian people are responding. It would be the height of branding stupidity of the highest order to use "Z" as a symbol right now. After Russia is crushed, it will just be confusing and weird so to me still reason to not overly focus on it. Make it AKRON. And make it known.
