  1. Here are where things stand as far as Rivals is concerned. None of the committed players will receive a ratings bump unless they decommit and commit to a P5 school. That goes for all G5 players. So at this point, for more 3 stars to be in the 2023 class they need to be rated as such before committing. I think the process needs some adjustment, but I’m not in a position to change it. There are some players in this class who should probably be 3 stars such as Lester Miller, Adrian Norton, and Max Tucker to name a few. In any case, I think this is a strong prep class and will continue to get better despite the player ratings. Not all of these players will contribute immediately, but the talent is certainly there to be successful at some point in their careers.

  2. So did the Zips get screwed by the MAC or did the MAC give the Zips an opportunity to demonstrate their greatness? Lets call the Zips plus the 5 teams Hilltopper listed (ignoring WMU) as the Big Six. How many of the Big Six is each member of the Big Six playing twice? Akron 5 UB 4 OU 3 Tol 3 BSU 3 KSU 3

  4. People vastly undervalue how important locker rooms are nowadays. So many are over the top with colored lights, TVs in every locker, lounges, uniform displays, etc. But that's exactly something that shows recruits that a program is legit and willing to go above and beyond to create a cool experience for it's players. Having a state of the art lockerroom that overlooks the stadium would be awesome.

  5. I agree. I almost give DJ and most players a fresh slate in my mind. Although each player should play hard no matter what, it's no secret DJ (and the others) were coached by a bunch of guys in over their heads last season, and as the season went on I'm sure they all got a sense the program was an utter joke. Mindset can be a heck of a thing for talent. NOW, with a great staff and a tremendous head coach, the motivation and mindset for everyone has to be night and day. I truly think we are going to see a much, much better and motivated Zips team out there this season. It may not equate to many W's as they are still growing, but I think us fans are going to be happy.

  7. New logo looks good at the top of the scoreboard. Wish they could get some $$ to update that screen. Just fill up the whole thing with a video board like they did at Progressive Field. Those ads and old school scoreboard at the bottom aren't needed anymore. Just program stuff like that into the video graphics.

  9. With the lots opening up to all season ticket holders it'll be interesting to see if Lot 9 fills up early this fall... or if it's just the normal family-and-friends. I'll be there early, but probably not more than 2 hours prior to kick-off. šŸ»šŸ’ŖšŸ¦˜

  10. The odds of any of those three agreeing to play in Akron are slim and none, and slim has left the building.

  11. Winning games and MAC championships will get that done. Also need a new locker room and weight room overlooking the field in the North end zone. If Joe accomplishes what he thinks he can, changes will come.

  14. Yeah. As far as lower tier competition, I think we should just bring Mount Union, Malone, or Walsh into the JAR on a yearly basis. For us it's essentially a scrimmage. If we would treat their players and visiting fans well we could potentially make Zips fans out of other local small college teams each year. But yeah, IMHO, one of those type teams per year is enough.

  15. I like the schedule. Only two cupcakes in Muskingum and Concord, and you're always going to have a couple of those no matter who you are. I like mid-majors filling in the remainder of the OOC schedule. I know it's extremely tough to lure a lower-level B1G team to the JAR, so this is about as good as I could have hoped for.

  16. We beat Wright St @ Wright St by 18 last year. SDSU is an intriguing game to a follower of college basketball, but not to Joe Akron. They won 30 games last year, though I think they lost their best player to a bigger program.

  17. From the football record in recent years, nearly as much football has been played in the JAR as in Infocision.
