  2. This year’s crop of MAC DTs is not quite as deep as the 2023 class. I also think the two defensive line coaches Akron has had since Moorhead’s arrival have done as good of a job recruiting as any DL coach in the MAC. HS/JUCO DTs: 1) AKRON - Elijah Davis HUDL FILM 2) AKRON - Ronald Hull HUDL FILM 3) KENT STATE - Josue Cordoba HUDL FILM 4) MIAMI - Oyeka Alexander HUDL FILM 5) WESTERN MICHIGAN - Jordan Buckley HUDL FILM TRANSFER DTs: 1) AKRON - Nathan Kapongo 2) WESTERN MICHIGAN - Anterio Thompson 3) OHIO - CJ Doggette 4) EASTERN MICHIGAN - Dylan Shelton 5) BUFFALO - Tristan Souza 2023 DTs and how they fared: 1) WESTERN MICHIGAN - Sid Kaba = N/A Redshirted. 2) TOLEDO - Wayne Peart = N/A Redshirted. 3) OHIO - Kobi Gorman = 5 Tackles and 1 Sack. 4) BOWLING GREEN - James Thomas = N/A Redshirted. 5) AKRON - Marcus Moore = 8 Tackles. Who I may have missed on: N/A thus far.

  3. Right now Illinois is getting the Shaka treatment by UConn. I believe that’s what you call it. Well it was a good run.

  4. The MAC is just the AAA for the top 11-12 conferences. The system as constructed is never to even out given how far we're down in the food chain. It's turned more into just developing players for others.

  5. Creighton paid out $4 million this season.

  6. Man I really want the Browns to build a new stadium with a roof. Not only because I think they can potentially host the MAC Football championship, but they'd definitely get to host the Final Four.

  7. Old Tod staying at Toledo. Utah State must have seen his post-season record. I suspect his wife googled Logan, Utah.

  8. I don't see how the league doesn't suffer from this. Sure, the league will get it's share of transfers and some kids will end up staying but I can't imagine it will even out. I wonder if some of this isn't driven by these kids' need to "feel the love" and be recruited again. One positive is that it puts the Zips in a good position relative to the competition. I do think the Zips may be behind the others in announcements, however, due to their tournament appearance. Groce's individual meetings with the players are likely still sinking in with them.

  9. I was skeptical of Tahj after the 2nd game when JoeMo hadn't yet let him throw a pass. He'd trot Tahj out there and of course it was a QB 'sneak.' After the 7th QB sneak I was thinking, 'By now you do realize this isn't catching anyone off guard anymore, right JoeMo?' 😒

  10. I wasn't a D1 athlete so went to Malone College to play college baseball. While at Malone they and Walsh (their rival) had a yearly event that was pretty cool. To kick off the beginning of each basketball season they'd invite two teams to town, let's just say Team A and Team B. We'd have doubleheaders on Friday night and Saturday night. Friday night's doubleheader would be hosted at one of the schools and then Saturday night's doubleheader would be hosted at the other school. If Malone hosted first, the first Friday night game would feature Walsh playing Team A and then in the nightcap Malone would play Team B. The next night, Saturday, the games would be at Walsh with the first game of the night being Malone playing Team A with the nightcap game being, of course, Walsh playing Team B. We'd have a lot of fans from both teams attend both nights. Two good games two nights in a row. You get to see your team in early season action. Plus you get to see how your biggest rival looks & imagine how the rivalry games might play out that year. It was always fun. We should do that with KSUcks. We also need to renew our home-&-homes with Cleveland State. Get a home-&-home going with Duquesne. Continue the MAC-v-Sunbelt Challenge. Tell the MAC we & Toledo want a home & home every year. Get a couple games/year with Big East schools, who you'd like to think would be more willing due to our soccer affiliation. Of course these would be on the road, but maybe our soccer buddies would throw us a bone & give us some 2-for-1's away/home? We could play 2 BE teams on the road & have 1 at home.

  11. Thanks for the walk down memory lane. Robotham hurt his knee his freshman year, right? Then Antino, also a freshman, stepped up? I just remember watching Robotham for the first time and was amazed he was only a true freshman.

  12. FWIW, Groce had similar situation in year 1 going into year 2. Felt like he was hired later than usual, KD took a lot of the team with him - current players and HS recruits - and Groce was left scrambling to fill scholarships in year 1. Because of that, we had significant turnover going into year 2 as well. Hoping Gensler finds his foundational players. Year 2 may be disappointing again, but in year 3 we should start seeing noticeable improvement if this is going to be a success.

  13. I know the college landscape has changed, but when there's a coaching change, I normally look at the 1st year for the head coach as Year 0 (it might have been here or somewhere else I heard that, but I agree with that) whether it's high school or college.

  14. And hopefully a new jersey. Guthrie favorited my tweet suggesting that Freeman's jersey also be retired.
