  2. Hard to pass up a chance to be a Paladin (what the hell is a paldain?). Maybe they offered his uncle a bench job. According to Wikipedia, The Paladins, also called the Twelve Peers, are twelve legendary knights, the foremost members of Charlemagne's court in the 8th century.

  3. Finley is legit. Hopefully we figure out a way to keep him healthy until the MAC games start.

  4. Was really impressed by the whole scene today. Great weather, good crowd and some good football. Loved having the band there too, great atmosphere. Glad they had the pro shop and concessions open also. Football wasn’t perfect but really hard to tell where they are at this point.

  5. My takeaways (and I’ll add that in my opinion it’s hard to take much from this with so many players rotating in and out): -seems like starting OL was James, Lyons, Williams, Davis, and Blanchard. Did not notice Shor in, but may have missed it. Same with Seymore. - like others have said, Finley seems like he’ll be the starter. Didn’t see anything in terms of bad decisions, and seemed to throw a good, accurate ball. Doesn’t look like Bullock has improved a whole lot. - I see Simmons and Kellom getting bulk of the carries with Williams a more distant #3. -saw some young guys looking like they’re more ready to contribute this year. James as mentioned, also Catrell White and Jean Louis look like they can play. Laing-Taylor had a nice int as others have said and I thought he had a nice hit on Paul Davis as well. - players I noticed not dressed included Phaizon Wilson, Alex Adams, Jarvis Rush, Iesa Jarmon, Kabbash Richards looking forward to reading other takeaways.

  6. I was distracted half the time, but from what I saw he played really well. Great athletic play on the INT too.

  7. I mentioned this before, but I suspect this team is built to look more like Toledo did last year when they had four guards and 6'7" Javan Simmons on the floor. Also, I think that sometimes we have unrealistic expectations of transfers. Not every transfer is brought in to be a major piece or a star. Sometimes, they're brought in as quality depth or role players.

  8. OL from Syracuse. 4 years of eligibility. We offered him out of HS as well.

  11. Man, Duquesne is really (Kent yellow) peeing themselves in excitement to induct everyone into their (probably bare) Hall of Fame. Sheesh.

  12. I was there for about an hour. Some quick impressions: * As someone mentioned before, Finely is more mobile than I expected. In very simple terms, he runs the ball better than Bullock passes it, so he appears to be the more complete QB. * The offensive line needs work. * The Roggow kid, the freshman QB, was surprisingly composed and effective. * A missed 22 yard field goal? Yikes.

  15. I totally agree Josiah Harris will be playing the 4 and we will be guard oriented. affer watching a mixtape from Hardman highschool days he is a spot up shooter not a shot creator. Think Kyle korver not Luka Dončić. Good depth add but I would not assume he starts. It is never a bad thing to have a sniper in your arsenal as a coach. Let’s hope the few bigs we have can keep us afloat down low.

  16. I’ll tell you what makes me all warm inside. Improved shooting from deep gives the MAC refs less opportunity to manage the game. Oh, don’t get me wrong they will try…but they will fail.

  18. Looks like Bowen Hartman from OSU has committed to us. Didn’t play much, but shot 44% from 3 last season.

  19. Greenville, SC, definitely smells better. Love this. Pinky and PCCC have to be sweating a bit.

  22. I just read about Hardman. The good: all academic player with a great three point shot. The bad: His defense kept him from playing more time at Ohio State. Basically, another bench player with limited minutes coming from a big program to Akron. Glad to see Groce getting some shooters on this team.
