  1. Massive piece of marketing here for Akron. Guthrie gets it.

  2. So this is the benchmark for a great AD nowadays? I’ll be impressed when he rescinds his Arby’s “A” logo, and puts 20k butts in InfoCision for a game.

  3. Hope the Zip’s attack can find its footing in this final tune up match. Go Zips!

  4. I've been trying to like the new logo until this. It is Arby's A. I officially hate it.

  6. The schedule is okay for us, let's say more interested, fans. I don't think it does anything for casual fans or STHs. All in all there is solid competition. It's just a shame to not be in a good tournament or have any big names outside of St Marys, who is like the smallest "big name" there is. Nothing appealing at home. Hopefully we get Princeton next year. Some good mid major matchups, a nice opportunity @ St Marys, it's okay.

  7. The last time we didn’t have a single P5 on the schedule dates all the way back to last year.

  8. Ohio Weslyan and Suni Brockport? I have seen enough of these games to know that you do not develop a team playing games against much weaker competition. Northern Kentucky is probably the best home game. As a season ticket holder, tough to get excited about anything on this schedule.

  9. With how inexperienced this team is together I’m really happy with this schedule

  10. I’m going. My in-laws have OSU player tickets from a dude they know that played there in the 70’s. So I’ll be the one Akron fan down low surrounded by former players, being super annoying when we score first.

  11. NOOOOO! 😱 Stop the madness. In these days of mental health awareness you are close to getting a call from the police regarding the deliberate infliction of harm and duress on the U of Akron community. Talk about crimes against humanity!

  12. The MAC is too horrendous to even think about at-large chances. Despite our OOC SOS being #45, our overall SOS finished at #206. Even if we won 2-3 of those Kenpom top 100 games, we weren't going to be close to sniffing an at-large, nor should we. I think you might be confused. I'm not saying we shouldn't have scheduled more challenging OOC games. I'm saying Groce likely didn't schedule them because he cares more about using the early part of the season to develop chemistry and build continuity. I'm fairly indifferent as with how bad the MAC is, the only realistic path to the big dance is winning the MAC Tournament. The MAC needs to return to being a top 10-12 conference before an at-large becomes remotely realistic.

  13. I disagree. The best rivalries are local rivalries where fans (in most cases) travel to the away games (if you consider 14 miles is “traveling”). A rivalry in Muncie or DeKalb isn’t going to move the needle. Toledo or Dayton is pushing it. It has to start at the top, and I get the feeling the top people of these schools do t give a rats as about athletics. Ohio State has been stealing their lunch for decades, and they’re just hoping to move on to something more prestigious. Or a nice pre-retirement money grab.
