  1. I agree, this is how I'd like to ideally schedule.
  2. This is going to be ugly. There is no escaping that.
  3. I'm counting 4 cupcakes (CSU, Appalachian State, Missouri Valley State, and Concord). What separates this schedule and makes it look so much better than years past is we landed ourselves in a really good tournament.
  4. My comment wasn't directed towards Big Dog gaining a 10" vertical. It was about how the nutritionist aided Utomi in trimming his body fat from 18% to 11%. Hilltopper said the nutritionist was brought onto the staff and that he has noticed an increased focus on strength and fitness training. He also stated everyone on the team has made noticeable improvements in those areas. Clearly this staff is doing something that last years staff wasn't when players are making these kind of gains in 1 offseason.
  5. I'm sure they were aware. I was more so referring to how quickly this nutritionist aided Utomi in getting results.
  6. If only we had this nutritionist last season for Big Dog...
  7. Ball will clear 1,000 yards if he stays healthy for the full season. I'm just not sure he will.
  8. Winning single digits games year one isn't the way to build momentum for your program. Scheduling a Charlie Cole death march wouldn't be wise for either Akron nor Duquesne at this point.
  9. I was about to post this exact same comment.
  10. I'm mentioning a name change now because it's something that is actually being talked about, at least on here. It's pretty typical for a facility to be renamed as part of a massive renovation.
  11. I don't blame him. I just see no value in keeping it named after someone who was connected to those events, especially if we can get corporate dollars in the process.
  12. I agree, he had no other option but to send in the national guard. That being said things escalated and got out of hand. Like @akzipper said I feel its just best to distance ourselves from the situation.
  13. That's actually why I feel it should be changed. Sports are suppose to be an escape from everyday life. Friends and family attending games, some of which may be Akron alumni, shouldn't have to be reminded of the loved ones they lost that tragic day when attending a game.
  14. Unlike the name changes of the Gund and the Jake, I'd gladly welcome this name change.
  15. Why? We only sell out 1 maybe 2 games a year. I honestly wouldn't be opposed to shrinking capacity by ~500 to add better amenities.
  16. Wins are going to be much harder to come by this year than we are used to. I'm not going to complain about the schedule this year.
  17. I thought he transferred because Akron didn't offer the grad program he wanted? If so, I don't know what's the shock.
  18. I'd expect a 13-0 Akron to draw as much attention as WMU received this year.
  19. I'm aware of the alumni package and even contemplated it. I just can't justify paying an extra $100 to attend 2 football games per year. If it wasn't for the 2 midweek games and 1 FCS game, I'd probably opt in for the package. I don't attend any other Zips sports events besides basketball and football. Under MIles I'd probably actually attend the midweek games opposed to watching on TV as I feel he'd have us MAC contenders in no time. That's kind of the difference.
  20. I wouldn't be surprised if some of that has to do with enrollment going down. I believe we just graduated our largest senior class ever. It's going to take 4-5 years to cycle last years really small freshman class through the system. Our incoming freshman numbers are trending upwards again, but they still aren't at the levels they were 3-4 years ago.
  21. I feel a lot of it just comes down to how much he wants to coach. Akron couldn't afford to pay him the salary he is use to, but at the same time I can't see any team that can afford it willing to pay him it given his age. Despite me being a Bowden critic for the past 9-10 months, I was happy when we hired him. I would be even that much more happy if we landed Miles. I've never purchased season tickets for football, but I'd buy them within 10 minutes of the hire.
  22. A lot more $$$ than the "added value" they bring.
  23. Getting someone of note to play a free admission concert would cost the university a good chunk of change. Its why you don't see them bring in huge headliners for springfest. You're probably right given how popular lock 3 gets for those free concerts, they probably would be better off bringing in a quality cover band.
  24. That sounds like the Zips schedule.
  25. As a ZN.o community I don't feel we rip into any particular players too harshly.I'm sure if you look hard enough you might find a few posts where someone was too harsh, but the exception.
