I meant Chris Kaman I should quit posting before my morning coffee.

Money in the sense P5 (P6 basketball) conferences have strategically expanded to take the best mid-majors. Also, large TV deals and rapidly raising ticket prices have made it so it doesn't make financial sense for the big schools to forfeit home games and tv rights for a game to play at small schools. With the influx of cash, P6 schools can rapidly outspend for coaching, facilities, travel, recruiting, etc. Improved technology has made recruiting easier for all. You don't see as many Wally Z, Andrew Boguts, or Earl Boykins slip through the cracks and end up at MAC schools. What I don't buy is people claiming the selection committee looks at endowment sizes and alumni base to determine seeds and which teams are in or out.

I worded that poorly. What I meant is I feel it would help reduce games turning into free throw contests. Games that just turn into 10 minute of free throw shooting are a drag.
-
What I like about it is currently a team might pick up a few quick fouls then the other team spends as much as 12-13 minutes in the bonus therefore turning the game into a free throw contest. Now if a team picks up a few quick fouls, they don't have to live with the repercussions of paying for it for as great of a length of time.

Let me get this started by saying I have my eye on a bigger prize than the NIT. The NCAA announced some rule changes for this years NIT. The rules are experimental so we might see them move to the regular season depending how they fair. The biggest of which is they are revamping the fouling system. No more 1 and 1. Instead halves would be broken into 2 continuous 10 minute intervals. After 5 fouls teams go to the line to shoot 2. At the 9:59 mark team fouls are reset to 0. http://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/nit-rule-changes-to-test-counting-fouls-if-games-were-quarters-not-halves/

Should have known it would be Marla that wrote it. She does great work when she writes Zips stories.

Yeah, that's dumb. I got the Arby's one and it was for a free sandwich. I just incorrectly assumed panera was the same. I was wrong.

so "bookstore" is what you old folks were calling it in those days?

Sorry K92, I bypassed it as people get their panties in a bunch every time I state my feelings about the state of our football program. I've been doing my best to avoid the football section entirely, successfully I may add, since I had my fanhood questioned for stating an opinion I feel the general public would agree with.

I agree there has been way more positive than negative, especially after the great start to the MAC season. I'd say there has been more than 5+ negative people over the course of the regular season, but that is neither here nor there. A lot of times your most cynical people are also your most vocal.

Personally, I like those Arby's and Panera Bread coupons that they dropped from the rafters. It actually gets fans on their feet. I get no chain is going to agree to commit to giving those out for all 15 home games, but it would be nice to line up more of those type of deals in the future. Some possibilities that come to mind are Chipotle, Pita Pit, or Taco Bell.

Ticket has been punched to Cleveland. More work left to do. https://twitter.com/MACSports?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^author

Yeah, I'm not looking to start a witch hunt. Some people have stepped off the early season ledge and have joined the bandwagon (glad to have you). Others are still bitching about not winning games by enough points and count the Zips out in deficits as little as 4 points. Those are the ones my link was more directed towards. On the flip side we've have a lot of positive people even after the YSU loss so it works both ways.

I just feel in general we need to build a solid lead 1 of these games so that way guys like Hughes can get some run. I can't imagine endurance is the problem as Poke only played 5 or 6 minutes last night himself. I just feel Hughes missed a large chunk of time and hasn't gotten the opportunity to shake off the rust. When you're down 10 with 10 minutes left, that's not the time you want your players trying to find themselves. You want the guys that you feel best help you at that moment.

I won't call out names specifically, but I will post some comments that can be found in various threads throughout the season. All 3 of these were posted by different people. It took me all of maybe 2 minutes to find them. If I took the time to go through other game threads, I could easily found more.

I don't know whether or not anyone had them going 12-1, but I distinctly remember several people saying this would be one of Dambrot's worst teams ever and no way we get to 21 wins. Hell we still have people that act like a 4 point halftime deficit is an insurmountable deficit. Its like have you not watched this team all season? Winning nail biters is what we do.

Besides Noah's shots not falling, I felt he played decent. In the last 2 games he has combined for 11 assists to go with 1 turnover. Last night he held Toledo's leading scorer to 4/16 from the field.

Edit: what skipzip and uazippers said.

Time to finish this one out. Not over yet. Feed it to the closer (Big Dog).
-
Playing great D. Just need to settle down on offense and run some plays. We're trying to force things.
-
Missing a lot of shots near the rim. Need to get those to fall to pull this one out.
-
I'm expecting big 2nd half from Big Dog and Akron win.
-
You can checkmark Big Dog's Titanic buzzer beater from the list.

Not sold out
