  2. It's why we need to get Hughes back in formand playing at a high level. If we can get Big Dog's minutes down to ~27 a game come Cleveland instead of 32-34, that should help. What would really be nice is if we went off 1 of those games and was able to rest Big Dog the second. We haven't done that all MAC season so that might be a bit optimistic.
  3. I posted a video of Big Dog's shot. That's all I found. Ball State threw the ball out of bounds trying to do a full court pass. That's how Akron got it back.
  4. Cbssports.com currently lists us at 9-2 and Ball St. at 7-4. I imagine it will be updated at some point. http://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/standings/
  5. Here's the game winner in case anyone hasn't seen it or you just want to see it again. https://mobile.twitter.com/LiveOnASN/status/829138837448310785/video/1
  6. I left after the Big Dog shot thinking it was a buzzer beater. Didn't find out until I was at my car that they added time back.
  7. Time to go on a run to put this out of reach.
  8. Defensive effort has done much better. Now we just need our shots to start falling.
  9. An over the back 90 feet away from the hoop that results in free throws at the other end is a bad foul. He has 29 fouls on the season in 121 minutes of play with a large chunk of them being away from the basket. That's a foul roughly every 4 minutes. Hughes struggled with fouling early on, but he hasn't committed more than 2 fouls in any game since Air Force. In fact the last game he committed 2 fouls going into the Ohio game was when the Zips played Coppin State.

  11. Yes, to everything.
  12. I say Zips come out looking to redeem themselves after Saturday's loss.
  13. He accumulated 5 fouls in 13 minutes of play, including an over the back 90 feet away from the basket which put Ohio at the line for 2. If I'm not mistaken he had another defensive foul away from the basket to put Ohio at the line as well. He's a big reason why Ohio spent the bulk of the 2nd half in the double bonus. I feel he has potential, but he needs to learn to play defense without acquiring fouls at rapid rates.
  14. Sure that definitely has played a factor. I just feel if we don't have a rich history of tradition to sell, we'd be better off on selling the kids on our vision for the future and how they will be the ones to help us achieve it. The University between paying for the IPF, new stadium, and bring in a coach with a recognizable name has showed it's willing to invest in the program.
  15. When I read more minutes for Aaron Jackson and Olojakpoke, I cringed. Getting Hughes back into basketball shape while he refines his game will be vital. I'm for getting more minutes out of Utomi/TDM and fewer out of Josh Williams.
  16. They've been producing pro-bowlers consistently for decades. If I counted right the below link lists 57 players that went onto have NFL careers with various different degrees of success. That doesn't even count the players that flamed out after a year or 2. Over that same time we've had like 4 players that have went onto have actual careers. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Miami_Hurricanes_in_the_NFL In 2015 alone they had 7 players drafted. That's about as many players Akron has had drafted in the past 20 years combined. Between the years of 2000 and 2015 they have had 93 players drafted, which is 2nd only to the team that you refer to the Suckeyes.
  17. Not to mention Josh Cribbs, Edelman, James Harrison, and Antonio Gates just to name a few.
  18. So we have outstanding offers to at least 6 RBs (Assuming all accurate). Clearly being addressed as a position of high priority.
  19. I like to see we are targeting guys all throughout Ohio along with western PA and MI. Kind of hard to make any clear takeaways as so many of those guys hold 5-10+ offers.
  20. Pessimist? I'm a realist. People were jumping ship on Akron basketball after the YSU basketball game and I was the one telling people to not be hasty over 1 game. Same can be seen in the Ga So and other various early season basketball threads. Just because I'm not pleased with the current state of the football program doesn't mean I'm a pessimist. I'm just not going to sugarcoat things as I see it. We have differences of opinions. Not everyone is going to share the same opinions. I want the team to succeed as much as you do.
  21. The fact they went onto NFL careers at all is extraordinary. Only the top 1% make it and on average an NFL career lasts 3.3 years. I also appreciate they show their pride in being Zips. Stil doesn't change the fact the average 18 year old kid has never heard of them.
  22. There is no evidence to show that it has helped us over the past 5-10 years, but now that he is going into the HoF suddenly the Dade County kids will be wanting to go to Akron. Good to know. I hope you are right. You do realize LBJ goes to Akron games and occasionally drops by to practices and such. When you commit to Akron, you know you'll see Lebron a few times per year. I'd buy into JT being a boost to our recruiting if he actually would stop by for a game or 2 or would attend a spring practice.
  23. I concede it was unfair for me to call Smith a bust. He had a productive NFL career. Blackburn did ok for himself for being undrafted, but he was a career back up. Nothing to write home about. Hixon was the #4-#5 receiver on a SB team. Hixon had 1,492 yards and 7 TDs in his 6 NFL seasons.
  24. Yeah, I have a meeting scheduled at work until 5. Hopefully it doesn't go over as I'll have to haul a** as is to make it to Akron, park, and get into my seat before the 6PM tipoff. Unless you work in downtown Akron, I imagine most people that work standard business hours will have similar problems.
