Matt Kaulig (Racing) Former Zips QB

I just heard an interview on Sirius Nascar radio of the woman that heads the Nascar Foundation. They were interviewing her because she is in Akron with Matt and his race team. They are at the Children's Hospital handing out teddy bears. One of the host of the show asked her about being with Matt in Akron where he is a rock star. Owning a Nascar team, being a former Zips quarterback and all he does for the city. She said its not just Akron but all of Northeast Ohio with his philanthropy. That its unbelievable all the things Matt does and is involved with in this area. They also talked about our marching band being there. Lebron was the caretake and face of this area but I feel Matt has taken over that role. As far as the UofA, nobody has promoted the university more. side note: One of the host is a NIU grad and the producer of the show is a Ball St. grad. so there is some MAC banter from time to time. They know my love for the Zips so when we play those schools, there is some fun dm's back and forth. Here is the press release https://sports.yahoo.com/nascar-foundations-speedy-bear-brigade-155326239.html -
Randy was a beast. When they joined the MAC in 97, my dad and I went over to Kent to see him play since we were playing at Marshal that year. I got to see him again at that years Motor City Bowl.

I just seen this too. Tried to record it to post but the play back messed up. Stanford Steve is replacing the "Bear" as the GameDay betting guy.

I had taken the over at 3.5 on Draft Kings.

I agree. The articles make it sound like he went after the "U". The video clip though shows it was little more innocent than that. Now that it is out, there is no sneaking into town. Ironically the Hurricane's defensive coordinator Lance Guidry was with the Redhawks when Haywood was the head coach.

https://www.inquirer.com/college-sports/temple/temple-football-stan-drayton-staff-offense-ej-warner-20230814.html Sounds like they are going to be young at WR. The stats from last year between us and them are almost a mirror image but in today's football that means nothing. Atleast from what you can get from that aticle, they didn't make any major gains to their roster.

Who is the one 4 Star listed for Miami?

I just seen we are 10.5 dogs to Temple.

With Pat Fitzgerald being fired at Northwestern, the transfer portal is now open for all those players that are there. It will be interesting see how many players leave and what will be left of the program. There is some talk about if they have an exodus, will they be able to field a team. I don't know about that. There are so many kids in the portal they should be able to get bodies to fill roster spots but their going to be BAD this year either way.

Remembering the Rubber Bowl News 5 piece with interview with Lee Owens. Growing up in the Rubber Bowl was magical. I know it was a hole but it was our hole.

Fun Fact about Paul Brown. As coach for the Massillon Tigers, In 1940 they played Kent State in a scrimmage. Paul Brown's Tigers beat the Flashes 47-0. -
That is SFC. The Terriers from Brooklyn not SFU Red Flash from PA that we played last year and Western plays this year.

Kent on Wednesday is bad. No way around that one. Ohio on black Friday .... I don't dislike it. Gets out from under the OSU-Mich. shadow that really is an abyss for the casual sports fan. If we are having a good season we can actually get some spot light that Friday from the local media. Is black Friday even a thing anymore with online shopping? I'm confident (maybe naive) that Kentucky will play here. That contract has been edited multiple times and we have kept that as part of it and in fact they are paying us now to come here as part of the payment plan type structure that both schools came up with. It's not a uncommon for the non top of the hill P5 schools to travel. Iowa State has come here to play and Kentucky is probably lateral on that level. The Hurricanes played Toledo at the Glass Bowl, these kind of games happen every year. https://www.kentucky.com/sports/college/kentucky-sports/uk-football/article260410282.html

Thanks for the heads up. I'll go back and listen.

I still feel that one. Explodes for a big freshman season in 06 then fails out of school and never makes it back on the field. Unlike Baine, we actually got to see the potential and then it was gone.
