We should save the money and go after his brother Rural. He could recruit the tractors, hay fields, corn fields. -

They showed him during the time out and I told my wife "That kid looks confident. I don't know if he has enough leg but the moment isn't to big for him." It was impressive. Plenty long enough and right down the middle. The kid never had a doubt. -

the coaching carousel is now up to 11. Only 1 (cousin Eddie Orgeron) is finishing out the year. There are still 8 vacancies. -

I don't disagree with any of this but I will point out the Vantrease is 2nd in pass attempts (211) in the MAC while completing 61.1% DJ and Zack are 1-2 in completion % and passer rating in the MAC for more than 5 attempts. DJ has 104 attempts completing 69.2% for a passer rating of 155.4 Zack has 59 attempts completing 72.9% for passer rating of 178.5

JMU has the facilities to come to the MAC. They have a beautiful stadium. It's layout is a little different with how they expanded over the end zone. The campus sits right off the highway and other than the tolls in PA, its a nice drive. I'm not too familiar with Illinois State's facilities but they would have to invest in their stadium to at least meet FBS attendance requirements. At least how it is written now. In looking at Illinois State i was reminded of this and had to throw up so thank you for that.

Matt Kaulig (Racing) Former Zips QB
Section210Zip replied to Section210Zip's topic in Akron Zips Football
Everything Matt does turns to gold. His Xfinity team is the dominant team this year. He already has a Cup win in a part time effort which is the quickest a new team has won in the modern era. There is constant news of his expanding businesses. Even with all this, he is still doing what he can for the Akron area and Northeastern Ohio in general. The president of his race team, Chris Rice, is on Sirius about every other week because he is a great interview and they win about every other race. He always start with "Im at" or "just got back from" a fundraiser in Akron with Matt to raise money for The University of Akron or Zips athletics or they are raising money for the children's hospital or passing out teddy bears that the Nascar foundation raised money for. They are always using their platform to better the area. Chris is a very positive, intelligent and high energy kind of person who has the ability to make everyone around him better. He is a great example of Matt finding great people that are like minded to oversee his companies. -
What are you looking for in a Head coach?
Section210Zip replied to LZIp's topic in Akron Zips Football
My #1 choice would be Joe Moorhead with Luke Getsy as OC. This is a pipe dream as they have probably already advance to far in their carriers to come back here. Especially Luke. He can probably get a higher profile OC gig or a HC job himself. Our offenses would be way more productive and would put up a lot of points. I don't know if they would be able to bring in anybody to fix our D but at least it would be fun to watch shootouts. If we were able to get Joe, I wonder if he could get Frye to come with him here. I don't know that Frye would be as good of an OC as Getsy but I do think Frye would at least bring some excitement to the fan base as well as alums. We have struggled for a long time in our program to develop QBs. We have seen flashes of talent and potential over the years with a young QB but never seen them get any better as they age. Nicely , Pohl , Woodson, and Kato. All these guys had moments or games early on but never built off of that success year to year. The sample size and injuries of our QBs makes it hard to tell how Arth has done but I think if you get either of these guys you would see or QBs develop and get better from one year to the next. -
Our best streak at the Info is 5 in a row. 2017-2018. Ironically that streak was ended my Miami.

They haven't lost at home since 2018 to Western 40 to 39 on Sept 29. They only played 1 home game though last year. If I seen it correctly, then they have won their last 11 at home. Another streak it would be nice to end this weekend.

I was out of town and put on the game I shut it off at the end of the 1st. I ended up putting it on the radio at the end of the 2nd and then questioned why I even bothered. I got the notice on my phone when it was over that the Zips won and I was shocked. I went back and watched it later and that 1st half was brutal to watch. I kept truck'en through it knowing at some point it turns around. When Zack the Zip comes out to play in the 3rd I was like "What in the world happened Saturday". That 2nd half looked like a different team. Zack rolling out reminded me of a different QB that wore the 5 for us. ... at least for that half he did. Going back and reading this thread, I have tears in my eyes laughing. The extremes this team and the fans went through Saturday....

not much here other than they are thin on offensive linemen. https://www.thepostathens.com/article/2021/09/ohio-bobcats-football-tim-albin-press-conference-akron I've also seen that Kurtis Rourke is out with a knee injury

Kicking off both halves and running around with a clipboard jammed down the front of your pants should automatically qualify you for this list. -
Matt Kaulig (Racing) Former Zips QB
Section210Zip replied to Section210Zip's topic in Akron Zips Football
Matt Kaulig Racing in their first attempt to make a Cup Series race, was fast enough to get locked into the Daytona 500. They will be racing in the 1st Dual race tonight that sets the line up for the 500 on Sunday. They will also field 3 cars in the Xfinity Series on Saturday. The same drivers that went 1-2-3 at the last Daytona race. -
Biggest Moment in Zip Football History
Section210Zip replied to DannyHoke's topic in Akron Zips Football
I want to throw out there 2 other moments that haven't been mentioned. The Andre Jones walk-off return for a TD in 2007 against Western Mich. That was on every news network and ESPN top 10 plays for over a week. The other one is the Daron Alcorn 58 yrd field goal to Beat Toledo in the home opener at the Rubber Bowl in 1992. The Zips would go on to a 7-3-1 record that year. Daron Alcorn would then go on to be Mr. Irrelevant in the 1993 NFL Draft -

After looking it up ...I forgot a good one that also did it twice. Mike Johnson. Guys that have done it once in a season also include Jeff Sweitzer ; Carlton Jackson ; Matt Rodgers ; Clayton Moore ; Tommy Woodson. -

I could name 2 QB's that have done that twice. Marcel Weems and Charlie Frye. ( I though Butchie Washington ran for 100 in a season but it was only 99) Marcel Charlie -

They issued a statement and said both cars will be on track. This was for their 2nd car that they have run part time this year. The actually just announced they are fielding 2 full time cars next year with Ross Chastian. Ross is one of the hottest up and coming drivers. This is a pretty big get for Kaulig Racing. Ross has all the talent in the world and is supper aggressive. He is the kind of guy you love when he is on your team or hate him if he is not. -

The defense will score a td in this game but my Fearless Forecast will be that Kant ends up losing due to 2 missed kicks during the game. -

This was so irritating last year. I was hoping they would change the route so it didn't mess with the faithfuls in lot 9. I'm thankful for the heads up though, since last year I showed up and was told i wasn't allowed in along with the line of trucks behind me who were not aware either. The university just doesn't know how to plan events around their sporting events. They totally botched the fan application tailgate on the home opener. -
