Everything I've seen online points towards the new arena being very unpopular with alumni. It will be interesting to see how the vote goes.
-
Hell yeah. I've bought several of his cards on ebay just as keepsakes to remember one of the great Zips.
-
It seems quite possibly like a loss. But then you gotta remember that we're 37-2 (i think) in our last 39 MAC games if you include MAC tournament games. (This dates back to the consecutive losses to EMU and WMU going into the 2024 MAC Tournament.) So we'll probably win easily. 😅
-
Technically, if both teams finish with one loss, it would be regular season co-champions but Miami would get the #1 seed.
-
I don't think anyone is officially eliminated yet but some teams are basically done, especially EMU as they are the only team with 12 losses so far. They would need to win their last two games and have Buffalo lose their last three. The two teams do still play each other which helps EMU slightly.

I heard that they don't get nearly as much gear from Nike as they did from Adidas and that's why they haven't had it the last few years. Simply not much surplus to be sold.

Increasing JAR Attendance/Engaging the Fans
Zips1991 replied to clarkwgriswold's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
I would think it may not be happening. Or they could just be waiting until after basketball is over when there's less going on in the Athletics department. -
It wouldn't appear so. I don't know that the spread would change more than a couple points if he played but I feel like the O/U would be a little higher.
-
Akron favored by 15.5 with O/U of 157.5
-
Is it distributed evenly among the conference or does the team that actually plays get a higher share?
-
Yeah, I'd prefer to play Buffalo in the 1st round. Even though UMass seems to find ways to lose when they shouldn't. Generally that's bad coaching. 🤷♂️
-
Just a couple of Zips holding down the right side.
-
Now they're going to overtime so it's even better.
-
Malik and Richie both starting for Toronto in the season opener. Also, in a separate match, Shookalook is on the bench for Chicago after signing his MLS contract during the winter.
-
I just want to avoid UMass in the first round so they can either move into 6th or fall down to 8th. Either is fine with me.

Zips alum Darlington Nagbe retires after this season
Zips1991 replied to Spin's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
I think it would be helping individual players improve their technical ability. According to Google AI, this is the description... An individual development coach in soccer is a specialized staff member dedicated to creating and executing customized improvement plans for players at various levels, from youth academies to professional first teams. They bridge the gap between team-wide tactical goals and a player's personal needs, focusing on technical skills, decision-making, and psychological growth. By analyzing data, video, and performance, they provide targeted mentorship to ensure players thrive within the team's broader system. -
30 in my wish world, but fair enough.

Buffalo doesn't play until 6 pm tonight, which gives us a full 24 hours of extra rest. Plus we're at home, so a couple extra advantages over a team we should already handle fairly easily. Especially if Freitag remains out.
-
It's weird to put it in a promotional video but she's just trying to explain that if you ordered a single custom shirt, you'd pay $100 for it (although that's not true). But by buying in bulk (500 in the case of this giveaway), you can get the per unit price way down. I don't know why there's an economy of scale discussion being used to advertise though. 😂

I guess the good news is we played poorly and are still up 4 on the road.

Zips alum Darlington Nagbe retires after this season

Great news for both sides! -
Zips favored by 13.5 with O/U of 146.5
-
Yeah, something like that. But then in the box score, it says 4,847.
-
Yeah, it's definitely worse than before COVID. But also, I'm not sure our reported numbers are always right. Obviously many teams report numbers higher than actual due to tickets sold that no showed, etc. And I'm sure we also do that sometimes. But I also noticed that at the Kent game, they announced in the arena an attendance of 5,100 or so (I couldn't hear the exact number), but the reported attendance in the box score was 4,800 or so.
-
They might be even worse than NIU, which is saying a lot considering a couple years ago it looked like Ball State was turning into a decent basketball program.
