I didn't see Evan in any of the photos posted on social media. Was he involved in the photo shoots? Is he still practicing with the team despite being ineligible at the moment?

Did anyone notice if Johnson came back in after being injured in the 2nd half?

I don't think he's currently with a team for the preseason, so it would appear his chances ended after the summer league.

Vegas has the spread down to -5.5 for EMU. I've taken them at -13.5 but hope I'm wrong. I'll be there and am bringing two friends. Go Zips!

Did we hear anything on the NCAA response?

This is just anecdotal from my years of following college soccer, but to me, it seems like the usually view a tie against a top-25 team as better than a win against an unranked team. Of course, it depends on the circumstances (who was at home, how good is the unranked team, etc). I don't think they take into account stats such as shots, possession, etc much; it usually just seems to be based on results. I've seen Akron dominate matches and end in a draw and drop down significantly in the rankings.

Without looking at their schedules and just going based on my memory, I seem to remember that Georgetown lost on the road to a very good Maryland team. And they've also played a very tough schedule including our Zips. Akron's only loss came to G'Town so that didn't hurt us very much. I have not seen Xavier's schedule but I don't remember too many (if any) big wins so I think they've probably not played a great schedule.

That was West Virginia who we didn't finish the match against. We play Cleveland State on October 20.

I was surprised by Bunch coming out also as he's rarely come out this year. I would suspect it was injury related and if so, I hope it's nothing major as he's been great this season, in my opinion.

Were your tickets available for download? Mine are in my account but when I click on each, it says the ticket is not available for download. Probably too soon yet, as I usually get an email when they're available and haven't gotten that email yet. I was curious if the YSU game would be included since it's designed to raise money through ticket sales.

Yeah, it will be hard to get much higher than 14 seed with the horrible OOC schedule.

There were times in the 1st half last night that I thought Syracuse looked like the best attacking team we've faced at home in several years. They didn't really match that in the 2nd half but still looked fairly dangerous. But Akron was always there to clear the danger (other than the great strike from Syracuse in the first half but there's not much you can do to stop that once he's in the position to hit it).

I think what we need is for them both to commit to LSU, then re-file in Louisiana, get granted eligibility by a judge there, and then re-commit to Akron.

Not a great night of results for Zips opponents but with the next two matches being Syracuse (22 in RPI) and Creighton (17 in RPI), we have a great chance to build our tournament resume.

It's beginning to feel like there's no way for us to compete at the FBS level in today's college athletics environment.

Well, that was the last thing we needed in a game like this. Gotta make them maintain a long drive, not give them a TD on a QB draw.
