  1. I looked up our previous elite 8 home matches to see what the attendance was at each. I didn't write them down but they were roughly 4,200 (2009), 3,400 (2010), and 3,000 (2015). What do we think the attendance will be today? For reference, last weekend was 1,344.
  2. I didn't look into the reason behind it because I'm lazy but I see that the Georgetown vs NC State match was moved to tomorrow afternoon. I assume weather related?
  3. Zips are favored by 7.5 points according to ESPN
  4. Looks even worse now that season ticket holder seats have been made available for public purchase. Hopefully there's a lot of walk up sales tomorrow but I'm not confident in that. It's too bad but I'm gonna choose to focus on the game!
  5. One thing to keep in mind, although I don't think it's really factoring into him not playing right now...Two-way players can only be active for 50 NBA games per season. He couldn't be active every game from here on out even if they wanted him to be. Unless, they convert him to a regular contract.
  6. Great article from the Beacon Journal previewing Saturday's match and drawing some similarities to the 2018 Zips team. https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/soccer/2025/12/04/akron-zips-soccer-saint-louis-ncaa-tournament-college-cup-jared-embick/87558472007/
  7. This is the plan but it's only a great Saturday if they both win!
  8. Still something me and my friend talk about. We were students at the time and sitting in the GA seats behind the hill. As the match went to PKs, we realized that we were sitting right behind the family of the Cal goalkeeper.
  9. Also, important to note is that for the September 23 match, Saint Louis was on the 2nd game of a road trip during which they played at Duquesne a few days before so they had been on the road for several days leading up to the match.
  10. I was curious were Akron ranked in terms of NCAA team offense leaders. Turns out we're 5th at 96.1 points per game. But, more surprising was Kent State at 3rd with 97.2 points per game. That hasn't been their style in recent years. Although, I guess it wasn't our style until last year either.
  11. I believe I saw somewhere that NET does not take into account preseason expectations as a sort of starting point, while KenPom does. So, for example, Buffalo is probably higher in the NET ranking than KenPom because KenPom is essentially adjusting for them to "come back down to earth". Is this correct?
  12. Match is scheduled for Saturday at 1 pm.
  13. I'm still cold two hours later but it was worth it!
  14. Great game and great defensive effort down the stretch to make sure Duke had no false hope! Feels good to be back in the Elite 8. Let's hope for a Saint Louis win and a week of recuperation for Stefan and Remi!
  15. Based on the ticket map that I just looked at, it doesn't look like the crowd will be as good as last week. But let's hope that changes as we get closer to game time!
  16. I was curious to see how Nate Johnson is doing this year and I must say it's better than I would've expected. Obviously we'll see how things go when they get into conference play, but so far he's started all 7 games and is averaging 13.6 points, 6 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/nate-johnson/12756
  17. With all due respect to Milwaukee, if we can't beat them at home, our team isn't what we're hoping.
  18. This is an amazing resource!
  19. Obviously when Akron played St Louis, it was very one-sided but that was also the best I've seen the Zips look offensively this season. Plus, St Louis was on the second game of a road trip (played Duquesne a couple days prior), so they were probably tired. They've had a good season so let's hope they can take down Bryant -- and that the Zips win, of course!
  20. It's on Sunday at 4 pm now. Just announced the change on Twitter.
  21. Saturday at 4 pm according to Twitter
  22. Immediately followed by a red card for Princeton!
  23. Akron won the Sun Bowl Invitational in 2016. But I think it might have only been 4 teams.
  24. If you search "Akron Zips" on eBay and sort by newest items, you can sometimes find some good stuff that I assume is from former athletes and staff members. Other than that, the Bookstore website is decent but expensive.
  25. We have the first result of the tournament and it's from the Zips section of the bracket...Duke beats FDU 1-0 to advance to a matchup with Princeton.
