  1. Obviously we need to get wins in these next two games (Ball State and WMU) as these games are followed by probably the toughest four-game stretch in our conference schedule (away at Buffalo and Ohio, then home against Toledo and Can't).
  2. I guess I kinda thought we were just gonna go with Roggow and hope for the best. Interested to see who we end up with, although I assume it will either be a FCS player or someone who has little to no FBS experience.
  3. I was traveling all day until now and just saw the CMU win. Great surprise!
  4. Yeah, I hate when they put games only two hours apart but it was a quick first half and Miami is up 20 so there likely won't be any fouling at the end. Should be over by 8, hopefully.
  5. It appears he started 7 games at Center this season. Not sure if he missed the others with injury or lost his spot. I would think he lost his spot and that's why he's transferring.
  6. Good to see these guys still living their dream. I wasn't aware that either was playing professionally, so thanks for the news @Zip_ME87!
  7. They weren't lighting it up but they were contributing. When I think of BG getting a P5 player, I generally assume they're getting someone who was getting very few (if any) minutes. I haven't seen BG play yet this year other than a few minutes against Miami so I guess I'll see tonight what kind of players they are.
  8. Looking at BG's roster, they have two guys (Ruffin and Thomas) who played meaningful minutes including many starts at P5 schools (Colorado and Florida State) last year. Adding them to complement Campbell seems to have been crucial for BG so far, but I'm left wondering how did they get them? BG has had no success as of late and I haven't heard about them committing many NIL resources to basketball.
  9. Yeah, I saw that Miami line and almost decided to re-download the DraftKings app 😆 I think Miami wins that game fairly easily. But I also said UMass would beat EMU easily a while back, so I clearly don't know anything.
  10. Akron opens as -3.5 point favorites with an O/U of 165.5
  11. I would imagine they figured neither BG or Akron football would be playing in the Semifinal, and it would appear they were correct. 😉
  12. Halligan played 19 minutes last night, which was his most this season (tied with the Concord game). I didn't expect that after he played only 9 minutes against Miami. However, Sharron played only 18 minutes which was his lowest since he played 14 minutes against Tulane. I thought he played a little better on offense last night though so maybe that can start to tick back up.
  13. Agreed. Being 2-2 would feel so strange after going 17-1 last year but the conference is much improved this year and we'd have two of the most difficult games behind us.
  14. The Zips head to Bowling Green on Friday (8pm) for another shot at that elusive Q2 win. BG is currently 103 in the NET but with it being a true road game, it falls in the Q2 category. Akron is currently 56 in the NET after dropping 6 spots with the win over CMU.
  15. I think Groce is being pretty honest from what I've seen in the last two games. Both teams seemed to be pressuring us more than other teams this season and we haven't handled well. But last night (and most nights), we're able to overcome it because we shoot such a high percentage. However, in the MAC Tournament and certainly in the NCAA tournament, we'll have to limit the turnovers much more as the games are generally more intense and often lower scoring.
  16. This is the biggest issue with the portal right now, in my opinion. We have all these players that we're identifying and developing, then they leave and we get nothing in return. The transfer fees would help build parity in college sports. But I think that's probably also why it's not gonna happen, because the big conferences won't let it.
  17. We're facing Troy on Feb. 7 in the 2nd round of the MAC-SBC. They're currently 10-5 (3-0) and are 125 in the NET. They beat Kent but lost to Toledo (in a holiday tournament). https://gozips.com/news/2026/1/6/mens-basketball-second-round-of-the-mac-sbc-challenge-announced-zips-set-to-travel-to-troy
  18. But can we get one of them? 😆
  19. Zips open at -22.5 against CMU with an O/U of 165.5
  20. I don't know if losing by 3 on the road to an undefeated team is embarrassing. Especially when we had a chance to win it with less than 20 seconds left if Amani didn't step on the line while inbounding. I was disappointed too because we should've won. But it wasn't embarrassing.
  21. Yes, I'll be dwelling on it even after we win on Tuesday 😆
  22. Zips are favored by 2.5 points according to DraftKings. O/U is 177.5
  23. Thanks for the update. Two injuries at once is no fun at all.
  24. Anyone heard how long Barre will be out? I saw him with a cast on his wrist the last couple of games.
  25. How about a push to move to 8 teams? That also gets rid of the byes. Or maybe 4.
