Lets hope he multiplies points at an alarming rate ;-)

New coach and losing their top four players? Buffalo returns to MAC level basketball again. League has suddenly become wide open again.
-
Is anyone not rooting for BGSU tonight? They have never won the tournament and if they do it puts two MAC teams in. Go Falcons

They explain the categories in the article Tradition – The history of the program Media Exposure – Games on national television Game Atmosphere – Includes attendance Budget/Resources – Includes coaches’ salaries, recruiting budget, travel budget, private planes, cost of attendance, etc. Buy Games – Programs who are bought the fewest number of times will rank first Geographical Recruiting Base – Proximity to players Facilities – Not just the arena, but also practice facilities, weight room, locker rooms, etc. Selling Pros – Being able to sell not only NBA players, but also those who play overseas Zips have had a lot of National Television (for the MAC) in the last decade or so. Ans for Selling Pros we have had a lot of guys continue their careers overseas after they were done at Akron. Of course on Buy Games couldn't it just be no one wants to pay to play some of these teams? :-)

15th straight year that the Zips have won at least one tournament game. Pretty impressive streak. In contrast prior to that I think they won one tournament game period since joining the MAC.

I do hope Buffalo loses somewhere before the final so it might as well be to us. Love to see the MAC get two teams in the tournament.

8 seed vs Miami since NIU beat Ball State. Then Buffalo. Going to be a short tournament run
-
Zips are now locked into 6, 7 or 8. If they lose the only way to avoid the 8 and to reach the 7 is if Miami and NIU both lose. If the Zips win the only way to get the 6 seed is EMU or CMU loses (or both), everything else is irrelevant otherwise it's the 7 seed. So now you know who you need to root for (or against) depending on what seed you prefer. And BTW after losing to the Zips BGSU can only be seeded second if they beat Buffalo and Toledo loses to Eastern otherwise they will be the three seed. Bonus - if the Zips beat Kent and CMU beats WMU at home (likely) then the Flushes fall to the 5 seed.
-
I just went through all the permutations for the last week that matter for the Zips seeding and I couldn't find any scenarios where they finish higher than fifth nor lower than eighth. So it looks like a guarantee of a first round at home but you don't want that 8th seed to run into Buffalo in the quarters.
-
Good news - I haven't been able to run a scenario where the Zips lose any tiebreakers for the fourth seed if they finish 10-8. Bad news - if either KSU or CMU wins two of their final three, the fourth seed possibility is non-existent. Edit - I found one - Akron, CMU, Miami and EMU all finish 10-8, Akron loses the four seed to CMU.

Awesome about time we picked up an Explorer. Hudson has a long history of excellent soccer. I think I have a new favorite player :-) -
I thought the name Justin Meram sounded familiar. He was the Michigan player who scored a goal for them just a couple minutes into the 2010 National semifinal in Santa Barbara.

Eastern Michigan is the 8 seed at 0-2 vs the Zips and Miami while the Zips and Miami are 1-1 vs each other. Miami the six seed based on better divisional record (4-3 vs 3-4 for the Zips).

I'm no basketball expert but I believe turning the ball over every time down the floor for an extended period will not help you win a game
-
A team of three point shooters who can't hit threes.

In one of those if the MAC tournament started today ... The Zips would be the fourth seed. They have an awfully difficult schedule in front of them but they certainly have the opportunity now.

Thanks for putting this up being out-of-state I had seen nothing on it and there is no team at the University more deserving. I just submitted my donation. -
I saw that list as well and dismissed it. They tried to incorporate "game day experience" to try to justify it. Well if that's the case just list the whole MAC and Sunbelt and be done with it. I've been to over 100 D-1 FBS stadiums and there is no way Infocision is in the bottom 25. Sadly though a lot of MAC Stadiums are. Vanderbilt is no prize but there is no way it is the worst stadium in the country.

Incorrect - Johns Hopkins is an affiliate member of Big Ten lacrosse.

Right after someone notifies Kent.

Just saw this as well and my heart sunk too. Akron is the type of place where good coaches do get poached but you'd hope it would more difficult to do in this situation, thank goodness Jared perhaps explored the possibility and decided Akron was still his best option. I don't have any problem with coaches looking elsewhere that is their right and I am thrilled that it appears we're keeping him. But to Louisville? No school I have less respect for than them. In addition to losing Lolla to them (even though it was a blessing in disguise) they had the two absolute worst low-life football and basketball coaches in the country, Petrino and Pitino. So happy both are now gone but they will forever stain Louisville. There is one University that absolutely sold it's soul. Jared you made a very smart choice to stay, I hope this University appreciates it and shows it.

Zeke not only got his degree, he has actually done some freelance tech support even while pursuing his basketball career. Might be my favorite student athlete ever to come through Akron. Great guy and very smart. He prepared himself well for whatever follows, he will be just fine. I know your schtick is to try be the board smartass but you're way off base on this one.

Holy crap. Buffalo is now listed as a three seed in the latest Bracketology.

Noah got himself on SportsCenter tonight by hitting a three-point buzzer beater in overtime when UNLV was down by one to BYU. Good for him ?
