I saw this article on TDS but it was one of their insider articles but they used Embick as the lead picture so I was pretty sure he was included. Glad they were able to publish the article. Sure is looking more and more like Embick was a shrewd follow on choice. One other coach they mention is Dave Giffard at VCU who was an assistant for the Zips as well. The Porter coaching tree is spreading.

Especially since on the depth chart no kicker was named as first team, which means no one has stood out yet. Very concerning.

Nice job and really comprehensive. Just one thing - under your Marshall crash site/memorial section (I've been to Huntington to visit and it does give another deeper perspective) you mention that visiting the site adds a new sense of levity to the story. I suspect maybe you were going for gravity or something like that since levity means humor or frivolity you probably want to change that. Other than that nice work.

Elton posted an article that claims only three QB's in the MAC are incumbents, Terrell at WMU, Rush and CMU and Woodson. Even as he mentions both OU and EMU have lost theirs (to injury and suspension) this Hustlebelt article details that pretty much everybody has last years starter back (although a couple has starters from previous years too). Looks to me like there is some significant QB experience in the conference. THOMAS WOODSON / Akron Ht., Wt., Yr.: 6-1, 225, Junior Hometown: Monroeville, Pa. Did you know: Akron held Woodson back from the starting unit in 2015 because of his weight. And DeAndre Scott was named as one of their first team CBs.

And not to continue to beat the IPH (TM Captain Kangaroo), but this line was pretty telling too - “I had to beg Ianello to take Cody Grice [in 2011]. I had to take all kinds of film down there and he finally took him, and he was a great player for Akron". I think Terry had said something the effect he needed to find out "how to win at Akron" when he first arrived. I think he may have found it. Man were we lucky he was available and interested. "I remember when the search firm guy called," Bowden said. "He said, 'Would you be interested in Akron?' And I said, 'Yes. He said, 'Really?'

And in those notes were two other Zips, Jarrod Pughsley playing at guard and Bryce Cheek at cornerback (however the note on him was not so good )

Still amazing to see two Akron athletes together like that. Really wanted him to medal too but that's still amazing. Hopefully it makes him even hungrier for Tokyo.

Congrats to Clayton - well run race. Wow the Zips have a World Cup paticipant and an Olympic medalist. :-) Annoyed they never mentioned Akron but they sure love taking about the pig farm. Oy Edit: All right they finally did and even mentioned he and Shawn were teammates.

I didn't think that was a great movie by any stretch but I did think LeBron James was really good in it and by far the funniest part of the movie. And the prop football hall of fame just down the road ought to be enough of a draw just to keep it on topic. :-)

From a story in the Washington Post about the greater influx of Middle Eastern women in the Olympic games Akron was a training ground for a weightlifter from the UAE. Note her reference to "James LeBron".

It's cool but every one of those points are due to the "third place" finish of the soccer team. Clayton Murphy's victory didn't even help because it didn't put the Zips in a top ten position in T&F (they finished 23rd). So again while cool its more due to the excellence of one program rather than across the board athletic excellence (even though this was one of the best athletic years overall for the Zips men's teams that I can remember).

Yeah that seems fine here too. As long as nobody posts to it, here is a thread exhibiting that behavior right now.
