  1. I was more curious about "butts in seats" and what kind of support we got after the Pitt game.
  2. Chapman at WR?? If he is such a good athlete....we certainly need good ones.
  3. The box score for the Savannah State game says 16,763. Is that true? If so, I say nice job Akron
  4. Why not Chapman at WR?? If he is such a good athlete, we certainly need help there.
  5. Wow. Finally some intelligent reporting with meaningful information and insight.....not the "National Enquirer" articles they have been writing.
  6. Funny…..I felt the same way. After 10 minutes we were down 2-0….some of my buddies were saying "I thought you guys were good?" I took a few bets (getting improved odds) and never seated it. I did have a feeling OSU might be a let down but damn….this has to be one of the roughest early schedules I can remember.
  7. IMHO - I think everyone is getting too wrapped up around the "Polytechnic" identity or definition. I believe the move is to become Ohio Tech because it sounds bigger and will attract more students outside of NEO. I do believe there is a perception that the biggest schools in most state and that are more recognized nationally are ; University of "name of state" "name of state" State "name of state" University "name of state" Tech Akron is not sexy. Sorry….
  8. Any predictions on attendance for the Savannah St game? Did the monsoon experience and loss to Pitt put us right back on track for the worst attendance?
  9. Hopefully the mentality will be revenge!!! Since they knocked us out of the NCAA tourney last year.
  10. In addition….the number of degrees offered seems to weigh heavily…..(I have to say I am surprised but happy). Doesn't this lend itself to us specializing in the areas where we are strong? Being highly ranked at computer science seems like a good place to me. Stanford – presently offering bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in 2 computer programs. Illinois presently offering bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in 5 computer programs. Akron – Ohio’s Polytechnic University offering certificates, associate's, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in 10 computer programs. George Mason presently offering bachelor's, certificates, master's, and doctoral degrees in 13 computer programs.
  11. I don't understand…can you explain...
  12. Damn DIG....I wish I could have you write my thoughts. sooooo smooth.....I bet you kill it with the ladies. ?
  13. I was actually thinking it might have been a good idea to start Pohl against the opening two power conference teams and use Chapman to change things up from time to time…Main reason….. 1- Pohl has experience playing in big games and almost pulled off our biggest upset ever at the Big House 2- Confidence for Chapman (for him and the team). If Pohl would have pulled out a win against either Oklahoma or Pitt, keep going with him. If we lose both (as we did) you can say you gave him a chance and Now start Chapman against Savannah State (who gave up 65 points to Colorado State) and expect he lights up the scoreboard. I realize Hindsight is 20/20. I'm just trying to figure out what the heck is going on. This defense is TOO good….maybe the best we have ever had!! I'm pretty down right now but believe with a semi-competent offense with this defense we could easily be bowl eligible. I mean seriously……forget about scoring points……just give the defense some time to rest for god's sake. Jatavious Brown is on pace to get himself drafted early!! So impressed!!
  14. I agree 110%. Be careful what you wish for .....you might get it ?
  15. Or actually maybe some of us agree with the name change. That is not rolling over.
  16. The season is young and we keep in mind we have played Oklahoma and Pitt (both from power conferences). If your reason for stating this is because we are 0-2 at this point, I think you are jumping off the cliff a bit early (kinda like some did with our soccer coach ;-) ) The fact that we would even think we could beat Pitt is because of TB and the fact that we beat them last year. Having said that, I do believe we could have beaten Pitt this year if we had a halfway decent offense. Two things stand out to me as surprises during TBs tenure. Offensive scheme - we seem to be regressing with Milwee calling the plays. What I watched last night looked like a Pee Wee football offense….I can't think of any throws in the middle of the field…..everything was to the outside (which are actually harder throws to make). A few times we came out in some sort of bunched up formation that made it so obvious there was going to be a run up the middle. It was so bunched up that guys seemed to be running in to each other. If you have an athlete at QB….don't you want to spread the field to give him space to create? Recruiting - our best players are transfers AND on the defensive side of the ball. Our best wide receiver is actually a converted defensive player. Where are all the speedy skill players from the Florida pipeline? We have the best facilities in the MAC, we have the Bowdens….. I REALLY thought this is an area Bowden would crush all the MAC schools. Like Bobby Bowden always said "it ain't about the Xs and Os…..its about the Jimmy and Joes". Where are they? The only reason I can think the would have stuck with Chapman is because of the weather and the fact that it is difficult to throw and catch. If that is the case, spread things out and stop calling the same plays that are not working. At least act like you are willing to throw the ball. Pitt stuck with their 2nd team QB last night…..OSU moved their 1st string QB to WR……I think we should do the same. There is no doubt in my mind that Pohl should have started the 2nd half and deserved to do so. This is soooo RG3/Redskins……I don't think I can take much more.
  17. I too have been and will continue to be a supporter of TB but I don't think I have ever seen a worse offense in my life. Milwee must go. I am a Redskin fan and I have to say watching Chapman is like watching RG3. You hear about the mobility and speed but he takes more sacks than any other QB. And the offense doesn't move the ball. Pohl goes in and we score. He should have started the 2nd half. Hell, Pitt kept their 2nd stringer in!!! WTF!!! I feel so sorry for our DEFENSE. They played absolutely amazing and somehow actually kept us in the game with about 10 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. I almost think all the unsportsman penalties the defense committed at the end of the game were a BIG FU to the offense. That was painful to watch.
  18. Yea, nice assist by Leo ;-) I initially thought Jared was getting the card.
  19. Booyah!!! A long way to go but a great start. Stay positive ZNO. The ODU loss sucked, but look on the bright side……it was an early loss (to a ranked team) and will be forgotten weeks from now. As far as polling goes, it is better to take a loss early in the season vs. late in the season from a ranking standpoint (at least that is the excuse the NCAA uses to put the power conferences in post season when it is convenient ;-) I LOVE THIS TEAM
  20. Agreed, Holding on to a 3-2 lead AT MARYLAND if 5 minutes to go is a good time ;-)
  21. Akron earns 3-2 victory over No. 6 MarylandLZip……was your bar set at a 3-0 victory? Let me tell ya….it could have been. We kicked their asses.
  22. So, now that you have highlighted my spelling error……do you have anything productive to say or should we dig through all the grammatical/spelling errors on this board……I am sure I gots lots o' dem. If you have tendencies toward Marquis de Sade, I would suggest counseling….or you and Keener get a council together to try and figure out what your point is!
  23. It was an appropriate time for a coach to call the refs out and take the yellow card. There was some home town stuff going on. The team was inspired after the yellow card….. Nice job coaches!!
