  1. so wait... let's start the rumor that jason is leaving town and working for waddell in cincinnati and for newhouse at fsu...haha
  2. try upwards close to 100,000 for a pitt team that is only 1.5 hours away on bus. That one was almost complete until the fear finally hit of playing a MAC team that has only lost once at home in two years and third longest home win-streak in the country (i think) at their place. Pitt would not like that on their face for a lot of reasons. It would not be worth the 100,000 for them.Think about all it would hurt with their recruiting efforts in not only basketball but football. all of the kids that are in close proximaty around the akron and pitt areas. this would also look bad since we just stole a couple from their own back yard. (see sweich and mcneese)Go Zips! and as always...
  3. well done Blue & Gold, well done... at least someone 'gets it'!
  4. I cannot wait for the season to start. It's a great time be a Zips fan and i look forward to my trips at the JAR this season! what do you guys think about our probable starting 5 of Conyers, Dials, Joyce, Wood and Travis? i believe these guys will be solid but how deep is our bench. will Bardo play up to par right away? As hard as this is for me to type, i think we will miss the size of preston and futch. Note, i said nothing about their ability. Anyway, Go Zips and i look forward to some of the pre-season thoughts from my fellow Alums! There iso ne thing i haven't seen in a while..... oh wait... there it is!
  5. you DO realize that OSU played in Akron last year, don't you? Also you realize what happened 4 years before that when they played at Akron, don't you? An OSU player died in that game. I heard that they wanted to wait until all of the players from that team could not come back to Akron due to eligibility becaue of the memory of what happened the last time they were at Lee Jackson Field. Last year we beat them 3-0. I believe that is the answer you are looking for.
  6. FSU was/is also in the top 25... make sure to add this to your arguement!
  7. no way... after next season he will be gone unless we can pay him something close to his worth in the open market. 4 more years is a dream. I wish he would stay but i am also a realist. he's not even at the top of the list. Explain to me why he'd be gone?? there is a lot more than wins and losses. if a coac his not happy becasue of whatever that may be happeneing from within that would be a motivator to leave. that is just one example of things that could happen but think about it; there are so many off-the-field issues that could affect a coach's status other than w and l's. the season is not over. if we win the MAC again you will see his name surface as a candidate at many other schools. I believe he will sign his extension in the off-season but will leave after next season... just a hunch... go zips

  9. i believe tha is what the administration is trying to avoid because of so many people in the past going back to the lot and not going to watch the game inside. i'm not saying it was you but i remember seeing it all the time. just get plastered, go into the gates and keep partying with your free shirt. Go Zips!
  10. that shows how little you know about the MAC at this point in your short life. Amstutz from Toledo will not leave unless he is forced out for negative things. i don't think Brookhart is/will be the same way. I do not thin kthat he will leave at the end of this season, but next season he will once a Big Ten job like, say, Michigan State were to open up. ;-)Akron will continue to be a mid-major and be in the shadow of Ohio State. Over time we may be able to get our 1 in 100 chance of beating them but it takes time. life, college football and all of the truely good things in life need to be treated like a marathon, not a sprint, no matter who the head coach is. remember we are building for the community, the school and the benefit of student-athletes, not a quick fix to crumble.Rome was not built in a day. viva la roo!
  11. i love it! some of the students that post on this board have to take this to the AK-ROWDIES board members and make this happen! W.W.N.D.! What would Newhouse do... lol Git-R-Done! i think Eric Baker and jason Smith are the guys to contact to get everything going for AK-ROWDIES now. i would love to be there but vaca with the mrs has me tied up... what great timing hun!
  12. Here is Pat Forde blasting 'coach chest'Other Coaches Who Could Use A Hug -- And A Few TDsChuck Amato (27), NC State. Coach Chest is under fire in Raleigh and is handling it with a notable lack of grace. Two days after losing at home to Akron, Amato took a shot at the Zips for accepting academic nonqualifiers into the school. A loss to the Zips has Chuck Amato complaining."They're in a conference that allows nonqualifiers in school," Amato said during his weekly news conference, according to The Charlotte Observer. "Nonqualifiers. Do y'all need to look that one up to write your stories? " … Do you know what kind of players nonqualifiers are, usually? They're inversely proportional to what their grade-point average is. They can make a big difference." Right. Certainly a bigger difference than the facilities, ACC revenue and television exposure NC State receives. It's a wonder how the poor Wolfpack could even stay on the field with the mighty Zips and their horde of sketchy students. Actually, an Akron spokesman told the Observer that the football team had three nonqualifiers on its roster, one of whom had done the necessary academic work to be eligible for a fifth year. (The Dash also wishes to salute the gusto of Akron coach J.D. Brookhart (28), who went for the win on the final play at NC State from the 1 instead of taking the tie and playing for overtime. Brookhart is a scrappy 14-12 at a school where the wins have never come easily.)bow down puppies.... you just got punk'd!
  13. this is the poll that i believe is the most accurate representation of everythingAkron 56... composite 56, highest is 24, lowest is 89
  14. um... you do realize that a bunch on the bleachers under the tarps are broken, right? that is the secondary reason for them being covered. As i understand it capacity will fluctuate from 21,000-25,000 depending on the smaller tarps used on the sides of the larger endzone tarp. I would say 24,000 is expected if we beat CMU. if we lose then i would expect around 20,000. Either way, it was a solid win for us yesterday!
  15. Well done my friend... Well done!
  16. the blue uni tops are still the same... come on Zips beat NC State!
  17. http://www.ncaabbs.com/forums/mac/phpbb/in...bb4fd903a2477abYou will see "K ent State" and a sub-forum called "K ent State Smack Forum". This is also the largest MAC message board i believe. Just don't foget how bad when you are on that board. It is a painful read.
  18. Link to the ESPN ArticleFor unintentionally comedic use of the school's mascot/nickname: Akron (16): "Akron Blue And Gold" Zzzip! Zip go the Zi---ips!Zzzip! Zip go the Zi---ips! And now five that are set up to fail: Akron: The Zi--ips come off their first bowl game since 1976 and proceed directly into five road games in their first six, including three in a row on the road to start. Five Fearless Dash Predictions For Week 1Penn State (37) will struggle out of the blocks against Akron. One line on this game has plummeted by a full touchdown, from 23½ points to 16½ -- perhaps in respect to 17 returning starters for Akron, perhaps noting that the Nittany Lions return only nine. But it's hard to envision the Zips have an answer for receiver/kick returner Derrick Williams.
  19. the game that is mentioned in the article was on ESPN yesterday afternoon. I was flipping throguh some channels and they were talking to Curtis. He said he will be on campus this winter and will participate in spring practice. seems like a good guy and he could be be a real asset to the program not only on the field but off of it as well.
  20. It has been confirmed... I have known Matt for two years now and he has been a good friend to the students and done a lot of behind the scenes work that we don't see everyday. Plus the way i undertand it after waddell and olivett left he was the next in charge that everyone trusted that kept everything going throughout the spring as a full-time grad student. This is well deserved and i wish him the best of luck! Good luck House and come back and run this place someday! Holla atcha boy!
  21. those are new orders per the ticket office girl today... she told me the same thing and i freaked! she then proceeded to tell me that those are in addition to the renewals that are out. still, that is not excuse, horrible!
  22. capt... NC State site is ran by CSTV throguh your link. The new Zips site (which by the way is just shell for right now) is now run by XOS, not CSTV. Give it time. I have seen some awesome XOS sites and some awesome CSTV sites. It's all preference and based on functionality for the fan.... all in due time.
  23. i nominate this as a candidate for "Post of the Year"!
  24. the rumor is true... he's around for a bout two more more weeks then of to the 'natti.
  25. great job Zips marketing! way to respresent in New Orleans, Newhouse!
