  1. Carefull Bobby....You're making sense. He doesn't like sense being made. Or factual evidence.
  2. Too late. I already suggested that last April first. If the MAC really wanted some attention they would sell their collective souls to the devil pay OSU and PSU the collective sum of the top three performing nations GDP and make them play in the MAC. Besides the money they also get the added advantage of playing 7 games against against "cupcake" schools while also being able to add 1 FCS school and schedule 4 more Sunbelt and C-USA schools. That way they can almost assuredly guarantee the weakest schedules in all the land.Seriously though, if we need a balanced schedule because of NCAA rules, then I stick with SIU as a full member because they add benefit to the west in basketball and have a natural rivalry with NIU. Though they would need to add about 6-7 thousand seats to the new stadium they are building (only 15,000) oh and hell this team already beat Indiana at home. But my best suggestion for balancing the MAC is getting us the heck out of it.
  3. I aint killin nobody..Nah, it was just joining me in my snake oil business.
  4. I say look at the games you want to see, if more than half of the games are quality "I really want to be at this" than it's worth it. If not, then just by single game tickets for the few you want, save the money and find a way to make it up here to the Info for Indiana and Can't.
  5. I went with SIU for the simple fact of bringing a solid basketball program into the conference.Oh and as another reason for us to push for a new arena. SIU arena seats 9800 and is getting some nice renovations to it (office space, 4500 plus chairback seats etc.)
  6. Some great shots in this article
  7. I'm worried about parking, but I'm hoping for traffic. Thankfully I’m close enough that I can walk. By the way, how do you think they will handle the demand for student tickets? 5,500 seems way low to me. This isn't just a football game, this is history; students will be there!I believe they said that students will have to go and pick up actual tickets (free of course) for the "4 main games".Those being...Home OpenerIndianaOhio (Homecoming)Can't (Wagon Wheel game)As always first come first serve.
  8. That just gave me a great idea. We should play up the "What's a Zip?" thing. It can be a viral thing. Post billboards and flyers all over town with only those words on them in blue and gold. Or maybe do it nationally in random conspicous places. Offer no explanation, no link to GoZips.com, nothing. Be mysterious and let people find out for themselves. Get buzz started all over the country. Sometimes it seems like you can't start anything cool from within Ohio; it has to come in from outside the state.Maybe hold a youtube contest where people try to explain what they think a Zip is.The athletic department can take full credit for this. Take it. It's yours. Just do something, something big.Could lead into a whole "I'm a Zip" thing? Or is that just way too much copying?
  9. Awesome, I love that they have the picture from the perspective of the rendering. The weird thing is, the sideline turf depending on the side (facing north or facing south) one side is greener than the other.
  10. How about The House of Roo?I think someone mentioned this in the nickname for the Info thing but...The House Roo BuiltWhich technically it kind of did, the Fear the Roo campaign was probably one of the biggest things the athletic department ever did.(Sorry oldies, Acme Zip game was nice for a game but I never saw too much Zips paraphanalia during the year or even at the game, I see Fear the Roo everywhere I go)
  11. There marketing department, I helped you out.Now try another cutesy thing likeWhose House? Roo's House!
  12. Yeah, especially if it has better hours than Porky's.They had also better have jerseys (basketball, soccer, football) tired of not being able to find authentic jerseys.
  13. I'm only the messenger, not the creator.Roos Refuse to Lose
  14. I believe we have a chance. I think this year is probably one of the best shots we've had in a long time of beating a ranked team. Assuming of course certain pieces work out the way we all want. (Bain, Henderson, Sewell, Tonga, Hazime, Lemon)
  15. That is one way to look at it. The other way is like this...It was an Orlando Sentinel article and UCF is in Orlando. Auburn and NC State represent the SEC and ACC respectively. Local school and the area power conferences far outweigh RPI when making a headline.
  16. Those have been there since the goal poste were put up...And here I was popping champagne corks... Hope you were in the Firstmerit Club Level when you were doing that.
  17. I think this is a great idea! But how about a "practice tailgating" a week before the season starts? And have the team come out and mingle! They would love some good cooking and we could get to know the players better. Maybe wqe could have a BBQ contest and the team captains could be the judges. Getting to know the players. What a concept!Really both of those are excellent. It's kind of a team appreciation/meet and greet. Even if only the regulars show up, at least it gives everyone a script to follow for the real game day experience. Also the the first idea gives us a chance to test the video display and a small scale dry run of the ticket gate (don't charge anyone) and perhaps concessions. They could use the practice.
  18. Ugh it's spreading. You should give that advice to Miami, Pittsburth, Cincinnati, Louisville, Syracuse, Memphis, Georgetown..................................................
  19. How? Do you have some magical eight ball telling you that students will avoid downtown (which they flock to by the way and is part of the reason downtown is growing)? Let's see. I disagree with you, I'm a lying snake oil salesman.WinZip disagrees with and he's dishonest. (btw WZ I have a business proposition for you )Hmm, Bilbo, I'm not really sure why you even both talking to use dishonest lying snake oil salesmen.Answer that last question... The spot was chosen because it was cheaper to acquire land since UA owned 90% of it, Alumni owned 5% of it, and the rest they thought they could easily purchase. This spot meant that the stadium project could be done quickly. Downtown (which there were no cheap footprints available) was not selected because the cost of land is much higher, and the city needs the office space.
  20.   So across Exchange street is more pedestrian friendly? Where 10,000 students drive from 9 am - 7 pm plus traffic going to downtown and from the west side to Goodyear. Do you think the city will close one of its two major routes to Goodyear Heights? So that Campus can be more "pedestrian friendly"?So one way traffic (easier to cross by the way) is less pedestrian friendly than 4 - 5 lanes of east west traffic. You are really digging here, and you're coming up dry in your theory.
  21. No.From Rivals.CMU has 1WMU has 2Miami has 1BUGS has 2Can't has 0Buffalo has 1Toledo has 2Temple has 6 (which is disheartening, but again it's Temple)EMU has 0NIU has 1Ohio has 1Ball State has 10With Temple and Ball State. If any of those kids garner any bigger schools, they are gone. Of all the recruits listed there is only one that is a 3 star. If we are still lagging as the season starts or when visits start, then you can get your panties in a bunch.A stadium under construction, is just that, a stadium under construction, until the facility is complete and you can throw their highlight tape up on the video screen and play deafening cheers (recorded from some game) and a announcer calling their name, its really only a "cool, I can play in new digs and this school might care", not "WOW look at this, this school is no joke."Remember, as much pride as we all have in our school, it's because we have the experience of it. To these kids until there is something to experience, we are still just a mid level MAC school.
  22. Wow...I'm starting to like our chances against this D-3 team!Well I think he's saying he'd rather us get athletes like these...
  23. Something like this would look pretty cool I think, though I like the permanent brickwork more. What do you guys think?Yes, I don't know why they went away from having the large player banners on the sides of the stadium.
  24. Some official numbers...2005 Season Ticket Sales: 1247 Ticket allotment: 7626 Sales Generated: S151,0002009 Season Ticket Sales: 4200 Ticket allotment: 11500 Sales Generated: $1 million plusAkron News NowA lot is being made about how far off they are of the 10,000 season ticket goal, but nearly a three fold ticket increase following 3 sub par seasons is pretty impressive. I see it peaking out around 6,000 for this season. But it is more important than ever before that we start having consistant 7 to 9 win seasons.
  25. I personally see Dashan Miller breaking a simple slant for a 60 yarder for our first touchdown in the new stadium.
