Someone from the marketing department must at least occasionally read threads on Zipsnation. For the first time all season, the yellow car finally won the Sheetz remote control car race promo. The red car was undefeated, because every time the yellow car got to the cones, it went out of control and drove in circles. Game after game, it became obvious to anyone paying attention, that there was something wrong with the yellow car. It became a running joke in my seating section and here on ZNo. Why is this important you may ask? Its important because it points out the lack of professionalism by the athletic department and the people who run the events at the JAR. Just like CK points out, its not one thing that makes people hesitant to come to a Zips game, but a whole bunch of little things. An overall lack of attention to detail makes the game experience less than it could be. A paid master of ceremonies or cheerleader would be a good idea. I loved it when the Pep band director took things into his own hands to get the crowd pumped up Saturday night. He did the same thing at the football games this season with the roving pep band. Maybe they could get him to fill the position.

*Pssst*...don't tell anyone....but if he sent out that video, no one would take him, and he'd still be a Zip. Sorry, I didn't mean to include your message when I quoted Rootforoo44. Do you not agree that he is the best all around player on this years team?

Green Schools are not "in turmoil", but we are trying to pass a new levy. If the levy doesn't pass there will be some cuts of teaching positions. Tom Stacy is a Phys-ed teacher at the high school. Phys-ed is a required course, you have to take it in order to graduate. Most likely, the teaching positions that are eliminated will be for elective courses not required for graduation. He could possibly be bumped by someone with more tenure, but the other 2 phys-ed teachers currently have less tenure than Stacy. I guess its possible that Stacy mat want to get back into coaching at the collegiate level, but I haven't heard anything that would make me think that was true. Stacy has worked hard to improve Green's football program and the results of those labors are just starting to pay off. I would be surprised if he left, but anything is possible. I'll check around and see if there is any truth to this rumor and report back. ps; I find it humorous that every time I use spell check on a quoted post involving Zac, it wants me to change Zach's name to Schlep! Tom Stacy announced today, that he is resigning from his position at Green HS to accept a position at Ashland University. He will be rejoining his former mentor Lee Owens.

MAC Tourney If Today (Post-02/05/11 games)
Hilltopper replied to plowerman78's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
You said if we win we'd have a bye period. Buffalo also had to lose to make it work. You are correct. I'm sorry .. maybe I missed something, but last night's win gives us a bye? Wow! Is the tournament this week? Zach said so, so it must be true. Title of thread; Replying to MAC Tourney If Today (Post-02/05/11 games) -
K S U at Miami tonight.. A big one in the MAC East !
Hilltopper replied to The Hip Zip's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Now that I've got that out of my system, I think its in the Zips best interest if the flushes knock off Miami. Now I need a drink. -
We have been getting those open looks all season. The difference is that now we have started to make a better % of those shots. BG's extensive use of the zone defense plays right into our strength if we make the wide open looks it gives us. My dad always said that the MAC is a guard oriented league. If you have good guards who can shoot, your going to win alot of games in the MAC. The reason we lost in the championship game last year was because OU's guards were red hot from the 3 point line. Same reason those guys knocked off Georgetown. We have 5 guys who can shoot the trey. I hoping for a month long streak of lights out shooting.

Dials, Joyce, Travis, Middleton and Wood. Tell me which 2011 Zips starters would beat out any of that starting 5. Does that answer what type of season we SHOULD expect? Those guys won as many championships as this years team.

He played like one too! He was like a human wrecking ball when he was on the floor. I've never seen a guy who could get into another players head the way Bosley did.

Good showing by the Zips. One down and one to go. We need to follow this up with a solid win on Saturday against Ball State.

With four MAC home games left, its now or never for the Zips. With road games at Can't and at OU still on the schedule to finish out the season, this game is a must win if we are going to turn things around. Our inability to win on the road makes every home game a must win. I expect to see quite a bit of zone defense on Wednesday night. I hope it makes a difference.

Why is a YSU cheerleader spaming our boards?

I loved his new routine. It was like he was receiving a pass and just put up a shot, no dribbles. I think the ref got an assist on the one he made.

They both played.

It looks like things are starting to unravel in Mt Pleasant. Rashid leaves team.....the rest of the story............. It might be similar to what happened with KD.

Ah, an old Suburban League reference (which looks nothing like it did when I was there - think we have maybe five teams left that were in it back then). Green never did much in basketball, but always used to have Hudson's number in football. Actually had a year where Hudson and Green with both 9-0 and ranked 1-2 in the ABJ poll. Then we went to Green and got our butts handed to us. I know more than once Green was chosen by Canton McKinley as their first-round district tournament opponent. Do they still have it that way, where the #1 seed can pick who they want to beat up on? Green had a first round Bye last season. They won the disrict title.

BGSU Ups the Ante for MAC Basketball
Hilltopper replied to Dave in Green's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Sold out vs. butts-in-seats are two different things. While it's nice for the University to have those seats sold out every game it looks bad for the program when a third to half of them are sitting empty for the vast majority of the games. Good point Quick. I agree with all you stated. We should reserve the right that any seats in the lower bowl that aren't filled after 10 minutes into the game can be sold by the university to someone else. That way we get the lower bowl filled, bring more pressure to the palying area, project better on TV and give a vitality to the JAR that is sadly lacking. One other thing, all seats in the lower bowl should carry with them a season's supply of blue-gray hair dye and free use of difibulators. Maybe that with get those folks to cheer. Do either of you guys have seats in the lower bowl? Maybe you could step up and buy a couple, then you could give them to whoever you want if you don't use them. -
If the Serb follows through with his desire to leave, we would have another scholarship open for next season, right?
