  1. Dre, I appreciate your input on this topic and I even used one of my likes on a post you made earlier in this thread . On this subject I have to question who is really causing this so called racial divide on city council. The idea of a holiday in honor of indigenous peoples is a worthy cause. Proposing it to replace Columbus day, a holiday which many Italian Americans celebrate their culture was clearly not a good idea. Even the councilman who offered the ordinance admitted he never even considered the impact it might have in the community. The rush to right all the supposed wrongs of the last 3 centuries is not a realistic idea. You can learn from history, but you can't change it.
  2. The airport is doing fine. The FBO is busy and all hangers are full. The old terminal is used as corporate headquarters for Theken, a medical implant manufacturing company. They are also building a large addition right next door. Stricklands still fills the parking lots most nights and the other bars seem busy too. The blimp hanger was just re-skined in the last 10 years. http://www.lockheedmartin.com/us/who-we-are/eesh/remediation/akron.html

  4. I remember going the the Flying Machine mid seventies to drink 3.2 beer. They actually had some pretty good acts like the Ramones, the Runaways and Steppenwolf. As far as the Pelican Cove property I think is sat empty for a number of years after the amusement park closed. http://clevelandrockandroll.com/?p=1643 http://wncx.cbslocal.com/2013/09/04/the-flying-machine-akron-steppenwolf/
  5. Our head coach doesn't even know the names of his players. More than once he refered to Woodson as "Tommy Young".
  6. There is an easy solution to this crap about not standing for the National Anthem. Keep the players in the locker room during the anthem.
  7. Btw, the Draft House was also known as The Flying Machine.
  8. From an article in the Suburbanite. "Sandy Beach Park, East Reservoir — Owned and operated as an amusement park from 1919 to 1965 by “Swanee” Warensford. Then operated as Pelican Cove - a bar/restaurant before being sold to developers for upscale housing"
  9. In your opinion, is playing that many matches a week a good thing?
  10. No way.
  11. Historically, baseball only has 11-12 full scholarships to give out in order to fill a 35 man roster. Those would be split up with partials given to multiple players. Those players were still on the hook to pay for the remainder of tuition and sometimes, board.
  12. Baseball will be back starting in the 2020 season.
  13. Big announcement today at noon. Going to a lot of happy people. Keep your eyes on gozips.com.
  14. Huh? Bowden has a headset on that is connected to the coaches in the press box. I guarantee that those guys had a clear view of what transpired on the field during Kato's antics.
  15. Suck ups!
  16. Pot, meet kettle!
  17. 3 tickets taken. One still left.
  18. I have 4 tickets for tomorrow that I can't use. Section 212, row 1. These are great seats on the 40 yard line. Can be picked up at will call 30 minutes prior to kickoff. Send me a PM.
  19. I tried to embed a tweet today in the Iowa Cyclone thread and it will not work. I get a forbidden 403 messgae.
  20. Seems like TV is more important to the MAC than actual attendance at the games.
  21. The MAC decides when the games are played, not the UA athletic department. Most of those start times are dictated by TV schedules.
  22. There have been complaints made about the website (mobile version in particular) to those in charge of its administration. Not sure what is being done about it though. I would suggest complaining to this person. http://gozips.com/staff.aspx?staff=11
  23. I guess the three fumbles by JoJo in the final game sealed his fate.
