I see it too...but to me it's just human nature. Every night we are facing teams that are bigger, stronger, more experienced, deeper...that beats you down. Utomi's points, rebounds and minutes are through the roof when compared to last season. He's worked really hard to improve himself, but he just doesn't have the supporting cast to win. And if you came to Akron to play basketball, your expectation is to win...a lot. That beats you down. Tough season for the players and fans. Hopefully the guys shake this mid-season malaise and get a couple wins to finish the regular season. A little confidence, and Sayles return, might get us a game in Cleveland? Seems impossible right now, but once you get past Toledo and Buffalo...the MAC ain't very good. A hot Utomi/Ivey/Duvivier can do some damage.

2 years at a lower division. 1 year at a D1 program. I don't see him leaving. Groce has raved about his work ethic and commitment all season. Now that's he's hit a little wall he's out the door? Not buying it.

I was watching the Patriots post game show last night and Charlies Weiss was being interviewed. He said NFL teams will scout college games searching for creative 2-point conversion plays. In particular he mentioned Boise State having some good ones. Obviously someone was watching the Zips/Bobcats...

Does he prefer football or basketball?

I recall Jami Bosley going for something like 41, hitting a half court buzzer-beater to beat BG? One of those early "teaser" wins that made you thing Hipsher might actually have something going on.

Like Will, my son is also a Junior at Hudson. They've both played in a school-sponsored rec basketball league over the winter. Will could dunk a basketball last year, as a Sophomore. That alone makes him unique among the local HS soccer standouts. Great shooter, and ball handler. From a competitive standpoint, he has no business playing in the rec basketball league ...he's head and shoulders above any of the other kids. If he wanted to be an all state Div 2 guard, he could do it. He's the best athlete in the Hudson 2019 class. He lists at 5'10", 165. But he's a "thick" 165. Not the typical slender HS soccer player. He's strong. He could easily be an elite HS football running back or slot receiver too. For the Zips I think you'll see a player that is strong, aggressive and does things at a very high speed. Great coordination. Just a gifted athlete that happened to focus on soccer.

I feel old when I see a kid from my son's class committing to a college. Will is an amazing athlete. If he didn't elect to focus on soccer he could be an all-state player in multiple sports.

The foul on Cotton leaping over the fallen BSU player that'd just lost the ball was pretty egregious too.
