I like the announcer talking about K.e.n.t's "Spicer-Hall Combination."

I don't recall too many greyshirts from Bowden, if any? There are non-qualifiers who sit out 1 year and enter as Sophs, redshirts who sit and enter as Frosh, and prep school kids.

I love that the local kids are buying into the Program. I love that a classy former Zip like Marques Hayes is proactive in getting his East High players to play their college ball at home. I hope former Zip, now Saint V Coach Marcus Whattley has that same enthusiasm about funneling kids to his alma mater.

Elton Alexander's pick as the #1 team in the MAC sits at 10-10 overall, 2-5 in league play.

Zips vs. Northern Illinois

Yeah...why would anyone want their Coach to be coveted by a school like Arizona State? Hurley was great for the MAC. An entertaining, great coach. It sucks that he's gone. I don't want to see KD get a technical in every game. It makes no sense to get T'd up against Malone. But the tight MAC home games...the times when he's getting jerked-around by the refs at home...he needs to blow more fuses. That seems to be the only way to get the blue hairs to shake their canes, and the millennials to look up from their phones. -

KD's technical made that game go from a "What a freaking waste of a Tuesday" to "Man, I had a lot of fun Tuesday!" The ref's BS Whistlemania™ absolutely sucked the life out of the building. After he blew a fuse, the place was electric. Like an OU or K.e.n.t. game. Big Dog is really playing tough, hard-nosed basketball right now. I love it! No one can match up with him when he's aggressive. I love that some of the formerly-lesser MAC programs are now giving us a run for our money. It makes for a much more entertaining evening. The 4-game Thursday in the MAC Tournament will be awesome once again! I hate that the Zips are jerking the schedule around to get on CBS Ocho television. Fridays conflict with HS basketball...and this upcoming week, the Cavs / Celtics game. You go through a lot of effort to clear your schedule to attend games, and UA moves the weekend dates. Move weekday games, but not the weekend ones. -

Certainly are some bugs. We are waiting a couple days, because some of the problems seem to be "self healing." Starting Monday, whatever problems still exist will be corrected. For those of you who don't know how this works - most of the problems require us to submit a "ticket" to Invision to get the problem fixed. Most are not correctable on our own. We will get everything fixed soon enough. Until then - This thread is brought to you by Keener Auctions. -
The site has been updated. This will add features, and also make it more immune to SPAM and viruses. While usable now, there are a lot of background things still running. Some features will not up-and-running for a few hours. Skins (colors, logos) need to be re-done. Some work remains. Thanks for bearing with us.

We expect the board will be upgraded today. Hopefully it is seamless, but there may be an interruption in board availability. Hope everyone likes the improvement. Me included. We'll see how it goes.

Akron fans are too cheap. They'd lose money if they were sold.

Best-refereed game I've seen this year by a mile.

As crappy as they are...they beat us twice last year?!

Trivia question: Who's the last Lee Owens recruit to still be playing professional football? This guy? Is Jabari still playing?

I agree with Zipsoutsider - It is not permitted to contact recruits if you are considered a booster in the eyes of the NCAA. So don't do it. If you opinion is "everyone else does it" or "it's an outdated rule," that's your opinion... but it is still an NCAA violation.

Thanks for the update on K.e.n.t.'s recruiting. -
Our 3-point defense was off last night, but our free throw defense was much improved.

The refs tried to make a really good basketball match up suck, and they came close. But at the end of the night even f-ing whistle-happy refs couldn't spoil Reggie McAdams Night. He and Big Dog were fun to watch. The other guys chipped in sufficiently at critical times to pull off the win. EMU is finally good competition. They look like a real basketball team now. Nice, tough guards. Glad to see they're climbing out of a decade-plus abyss. Ivey and "Ace" continue to swing and miss at their opportunities to get more PT. If either can hit free throws and defend, dramatically increased PT is the reward. I'd love to see one of them step up. Kwan doesn't look like "the most the NBA-Ready Zip" I heard touted earlier this year. What happened to the Kwan I saw back in November? Not a perfect game, but the Zips showed spunk and tenacity for the first time in a while. It was nice to not see us get out-worked, Looking forward to the Purple-out Saturday. Hope to see a big crowd.

Larry Williams only job is to fill InfoCision. If anything else were remotely close in importance, we'd have kept Wistercill. Bowden has given him something to sell, so it's on him to get attendance moving in a positive direction. Bowden took unarguably the worst football program in D-1 to an 8-5 record and a bowl win within 4 years. So we know the impossible can be accomplished. I'd expect a good AD, with creativity and a plan, can get attendance to 15k+ average butts-in-seats within the next 4 years. That should be what is expected.

Huge upcoming stretch of games for the Zips beginning tonight. A win this evening, and all's well with the world. A home loss, and the JAR faithful will probably start thinning out. We know Miami is at "Cupcake Level." But with the added incentive that it's a MAC East tilt, they'll play tougher. Should be a competitive game. NIU looms next, and they are certainly at EMU's level. Gotta sweep these three, because @Ball State, @OU and CMU follow. Tough MAC slate this year. It's good to see.

There is no one on this team that should feel entitled to their minutes. If Aaron Jackson or Williams or Ivey want to play more minutes, freaking defend, move on offense, and defend, and you are a starter. The talent on this team is as good as any I've seen, but the hustle and effort is the worst. No excuse for getting their ass whipped in successive games, other than having a big head from eating a ton of cupcakes. Top 25? This crew is below the Top 125. Wins against some weak competition has hidden some critical weaknesses. It used to be KD'd say "The first team to 65 will win". Now the opponents are hitting 65 with 9 minutes left in the game. That's a problem. We shoot three's like we're Golden State. But we make them like we're Central State. That's gotta change. Too much potential to give up on the Zips...but right now....this is the worst Zips "team" I've seen in 12 years.
