#1 from Kirtland is a player. Lightning quick. The combination of #1 and #34 for Kirtland was devastating. Tough to tell if #34 has the foot speed to be a D1 player due to his bum ankle. But he passes the eye test. Big, tough kid and a winner too. And that's what we need on the Zips.

Other than Walt Harris, has any D1-A coach ever been fired 2 years into a 5-year contract?

IMO - this game is HUGE, if anyone cares about getting butts in the JAR over the course of the next month. A win over CSU will get us a lot of nice local press, and cheer-up a fan base reeling from the post-Mississippi State string of "L's." Another 20-point loss would be a major, major disappointment.

I don't see keeping our 3 or 4 commits as a major priority. And I don't see Ianello dropping from HC to Recruiting Coordinator. Beyond that, I can't see a new HC wanting the old HC on his staff. Unless we get Charlie Weiss.

And if your job is college athletics, shouldn't TW, or, for that matter, any other D-1 AD, pretty much already know who the consensus hot commodities are? Look at our last football HC hire. Do you really think Wistercill has a pulse on today's hot coaching commodities? $50,000 to keep TW out of the search loop would be the best 50k the University ever spent.

I could see Wistercill at the podium...bragging about how he "stole" YSU's 9-13 coach.

Can you see UA hiring a 60 year old Californian who sported a 4-8 record in 2011? I can't imagine it. The couch-ridden UA fan base would be in an uproar.

I agree with you about seeing more of Gilliam. He's getting very frustrated and finding it hard putting on a zips uniform. Then it's a good thing he isn't a Zips football player.

2001? Who knew? I'm getting old, I guess. Fresno did tread some water at an elevated level for a couple years after Carr, but lately, my point stands that Hill's magic has pretty-much disappeared. While Boise has kept on rolling. 2, 4-win seasons out of the past 6 3 lower-tier bowl losses out of the past 4 appearances (granted, one more win than OU) The guy is obviously a good coach, but his best days appear to be behind him. I think it would be like the Vikings picking up Donovan McNabb. The Celtics picking up Shaq. Stats, schmatz...his better days are behind him.

I heard that comment. It cracked me up too. #45 for Norwayne is a player. Put him anywhere on the field and he'll impact the game. I loved how patient he was going through his progressions. He was a beast running the ball, and no single d-lineman could sack him. His strength in the pocket reminded me of Roethlisberger. Maybe his best College position is LB, but I'd give him a look at QB.

Why has Fresno State eroded since David Carr left? 6-or-so years ago, I loved watching the Fresno State games on Thursday nights. They were as fun to watch as Boise State. But Boise kept up the pace, and Fresno State regressed. On the surface, it seems like Hill lost his magic? Maybe he's another Schnellenberger? Maybe he simply has a nice mustache like Schnellenberger?

To quote Lee Corso: "Not so fast, my friend!" I want to interview multiple candidates. Winters should be one of them. Any coach from Wisconsin or Minnesota shot not be one of them. And anyone caught asking for Barry Alvarez's advice should be fired. A silver lining to Winters being overlooked again would be - It would really piss Terry Pluto off.

Better than Mike Johnson? Played pro QB for several seasons. UA alum. NFL coach for many years. Kids want to hear that they can get to the pros. Even if they have no chance of doing so. Mike's NFL connections could be HUGE in getting a higher-caliber athlete to the UA campus.

If they win this week...than I guess we should hope they win it all. Maybe getting the D-2 Champ Coach gets a little more of a buzz going in the area? We know that Pluto would be all over it.

Then why hire a new coach? Things can never change.
