  1. Huskie Fans Thoughts on Kaleb
  2. You're always one step away from an AD decimating your Division 1 program with a horrific hire. Huggins had 4 straight 20-win seasons, including an NCAA and two NIT berths. Enter Coleman Crawford, and a deep dive into the basketball abyss. Our own Charles Guthrie fired a 92-80 coach, replacing him with a "Name" guy...Will Ryan (son of Wisconsin legend Bo Ryan). Willy was a .500 coach at D-2 Wheeling prior to leeching on to his dad's resume like a remora on a shark belly, and bamboozling Guthrie. The apple fell faaaaar from the tree, as son Will went 15-61 before being fired. Names like Ianello and Arth obviously also apply. Enjoy whatcha' got...because tomorrow is promised to no one. Even the Tar Heels.
  3. He was only at the JUCO for one season, and was immediately eligible at NIU, so his HS grades were fine. I'd guess his HS recruitment was light in part due to an injury?
  4. Does Groce need to apologize when the Zips acquire another MAC player? Are we becoming NIU's "Marshall?" Or do the Huskies just figure "He's going to transfer anyhow...might as well be to a MAC program"? Solid, but not spectacular offensive numbers. A 1-ish points less than Hankerson...a couple more assists...35% from behind the arc. Definitely a step or two above Clarke...an overall "wash" as a Hankerson replacement? Gives us some versatility and depth. Wish it were more of a "splash" guy, but I'll take a 5th year baller like him.
  5. I'm awaiting my PWO offer from Houston. Should arrive any minute now.
  6. He finishes lay ups and shoots 3's better than Clarke, so I'm sold.
  7. Big? Ja Morant would brandish a gun if you said that to his face.
  8. The only thing I can speculate is - 6' 9", 330 lbs is tantalizing for some coaches? There aren't many his size out there. Xavior came a long way from topping 400 pounds and being relentlessly heckled as a high schooler. But was never remotely serviceable as a D-1 LT. Could they possibly have offered him a scholarship? His feet are soooo...slooooow.
  9. In my book a sucky 14 win team, from a sucky conference gets no post season play. Ever. From this day forward, until James Naismith XXVI celebrates his 95th birthday.
  10. A 1-bid, 15 team conference.
  11. They fooled me this season. I really thought they had the potential to make some post season noise. Instead they fell flat on their face in their two defining games and proved they’re just another decent MAC runner up team that deserved no better than what they got in the post season. An NIT bid, and an embarrassing first round exit. Since the Rockets last NCAA appearance the Zips have made the Big Dance 5 times, under 3 different coaches.
  12. I thought the revised rule limited players to only one transfer with immediate eligibility?
  13. If he transfers again he needs to sit out, right?
  14. I hope this post sets the ZN.o record for likes.
  15. If Huggins would entertain returning, it would be an interesting decision.
  16. If bad tastes in our mouths bothered us we wouldn’t be Zips fans. BTW- Saw YSU is hosting Oklahoma State in the NIT.
  17. In the transfer portal era, I think teams are going to look completely different every year. Tomorrow's team is promised to no one. Is passing on the CBI an affront to teams of the past that would have killed for the opportunity to compete, but were robbed of it for whatever reason? A little bit. The CBI is definitely an unsexy tournament. But it is a decent-sized assemblage of like-ability teams, and it would have been fun if the Zips participated and happened to string together a couple wins...even if only against North Alabama and Tarleton. Moot point now...we now forge on to the Portal Season, and prep for 2023-24.
  18. Could Travis wire Guthrie 27k?📞
  19. If Cleveland State and Duquesne are willing to spend money on their basketball programs that were not, that would make me sad. Awaiting Guthrie’s comments on why his 22 win team isn’t playing in the postseason. I know Travis, Joyce, Middleton, etc would have given anything to have a crack at the postseason. Ditto Banks/Cheese/Williams and LCJ.
  20. Zips vs Duquesne
  21. Toledo is a great team. They remind me of the Xerious/LCJ/Cheese/Banks Zips team. They could easily go to the NCAA round of 32 pending the match up. They will beat Kent.
  22. I agree with you, but our chances of turning it over 4 more times is better.
  23. You’re right, but Kent has a front runner mentality. 12 minutes to go we still have a good shot.
