  1. I appreciate everyone’s support. If there comes a time when we need to pass a hat I will let people know.
  2. Yes. But we have a life, and sometimes we misplace trust that our members will act like adults. Jut so everyone knows - when I cut the check to Invision every 6 months to keep this site going it comes out of my pocket. I do it because I feel Zips fans need a nice place to discuss their teams comings and goings. 97% of you "get it," and I appreciate your contributions. If you are a cyberbully looking to inflate your ego, you're in the wrong board. Start your own Zips site and run it as you please. But here, you play by the house rules. It's as simple as that.
  3. Guthrie may get the Interim Hire of the Year Award?
  4. Did look like an 8 year old trying to tackle their dad when #31 carries the ball.
  5. You knew if we didn’t match their scoring it would get ugly.
  6. During the WMU game broadcast the announcers said none of the existing staff would be retained, including Oscar. Oscar said he wanted to win the Wagon Wheel “as a gift to the next staff.” That tells me Oscar isn’t the future.
  7. My opinion- Kent’s defense sucks, and Gibson is rolling. Look for a high scoring game … like 48-34 Kent. But the Zips have a puncher’s chance. Kent is NOT rolling right now. If the Zips can jump out to an early lead, the Flashes could panic. Question of the day- is Guthrie hoping the Zips win, or get blown out?
  8. Great football acumen. Would be a great recruiter in Western Pa. Might stay a while, with his family being so close. Great leadership skills. Would pique the interest of a lot of scorned football alumni. MACC QB. He's a home run if we could get him.
  9. How many of the Arth 2021/2022 class will stick with Akron? I’ll guess - zero.
  10. It worked out so well we fired him?
  11. They probably rested their starters in preparation for tonight. Trap game.
  12. If that’s a trigger, I can’t imagine what this is.
  13. Playing Malone tonight, and Akron tomorrow night. Ambitious scheduling. Wheeling Site
  14. His record says “yes,” his wallet says “no.”
  15. View of the student section and bar area.
  16. “The Kangaroo Hops Garden?”
  17. On the topic of beer - They did have a few other non-advertised offerings. Yuengling and Heineken. There were probably another couple I missed. They don't seem to want to sell the beer. The bar behind the south hoop looked nice, but was empty for the bulk of the game. You'd figure there'd be a PA announcement promoting it, inviting people to stop down? Call it "Porky's Taphouse"...market it somehow? Word in section 2B was - there was a $20 cover charge to enter the area? Maybe true, maybe an urban legend. But I didn't feel like walking down to find out.
  18. IMHO - I think our problem is less coaching, and more talent. Feeney isn't misusing Mean Joe Green, Lawrence Taylor, Jason Taylor and Michael Strahan. Or even Coe, Marcus, Davis II and Gilbert III. We're just smaller, slower and younger than every OL we face. A single instance of stopping the run, or getting any sort of pressure on the QB has been cause for a ticker tape parade for any of the Arth-Feeney's defenses.
  19. Both Gen Z’er season ticket holders will be stoked.
  20. Miller Lite...White Claw...Corona...? I thought you said they were selling beer?😁 I guess it's a start.
  21. I think you misinterpreted the post. He's saying it was stupid to put Irons in the game when Gibson was rolling. Inserting Irons is like tossing water on the campfire, and our staff has done it two consecutive games. Irons showed some high level FBS ability earlier in the season. Auburn and Ohio State fans would attest to it. I would too. 😁 I've watched a lot of football, and I've only seen this bizarre QB swap done one other time...when Butchie Washington was having a great first quarter against Penn State, and Lee Owens yanked him in favor of Greg Gromeck. I recall Gromeck threw two quick pick 6's, and a tight game quickly flipped to a blowout. Gibson has improved quite a bit over his 3 Freshman seasons at UA. He definitely gives the Zips the best chance to win football games. End zone fumble aside, he values ball security way more than Irons. Good leadership, pocket presence, poise, accuracy and good arm strength. What's not to like? But if Gibson elected to transfer at season's end (hope he doesn't), and a good OC and QB coach had the offseason to work with Irons, and we plucked 4 mature OL's out of the transfer portal, I think we'd be in good shape with Irons at QB in 2022.
  22. Does Kato get the 1st series against Kent? Do we stupidly force Irons into the Kent game, mid scoring drive, like we did against Ball State and WMU?
  23. If basketball games were 39 minutes 58 seconds long, and football games were 58 minutes 59 seconds long, I’d have had a hell of a Tuesday night. Instead…
  24. The next pass better be in the end zone
  25. Gibson gets a chance to make a signature comeback win!
