  1. I'd say both are earning time through production. Especially Tribble. He's always played tough defense. But recently he seems to have traded his 3-point shots for aggressive drives to the hole. He's finishing at a higher percentage, drawing fouls, and hitting his FT's. He played great against Southern. What's not to like? There were probably 28-32 game-minutes freed up by KJ's departure, and it seems like Dawson and Tribble have seized them. It's a small post-Florida sample size, but I like the trend.
  2. A Zips game broadcast mentioned the Infocision turf would be replaced in the offseason. It is 12 years old, and typically shouldn't go more than 8 years between replacements.
  3. If Joe can address Irons’ ball security issues, and the Zips OL issues, we would be in good shape with Irons at QB next year. Definitely trust that Joe will bring in a quality veteran qb to compete for the job too.
  4. Try clicking on the quote box and hitting the keyboard delete button. If that doesn’t work, just complete a nul post and a moderator will delete it.
  5. Can we create a script Fear the Roo logo for helmets? So cool. Please don't show this to Gary Miller, or we might actually get it. 😁
  6. For those hoping Old Man Winters would get another crack at the Zips HC position...his 2021 Wayne State Warriors matched Arth's 2-win total.
  7. Mike Dawson is doing well @ Nebraska.
  8. Groce said the game was on Sunday due to graduation on Saturday. My comment regarding attendance could apply to any game. I really wonder how much Covid and the mask mandate will cut into this season’s attendance. There are a lot of familiar faces missing from the JAR so far. It’s always sparse in the non-conference season, but seems much more so this year. Giving the students the lower reserve seats helps fill what would otherwise be a pretty barren section. Hope attendance improves. This team will only get better as the year goes on.
  9. Predicted actual attendance- 586.
  10. PUH-thetic attendance tonight. Dawson and Tribble seem to be taking advantage of KJ’s abandoned minutes. Both are playing well. Spirited effort by Southern. Punched us in the nose early.
  11. The “Z” is cool and has style. Script Akron is lame, unimaginative…it has all the sex appeal of The Turnover Pencil.
  12. He needs to stick to Presidential stuff and stay out of marketing.
  13. Marshall 83 Duquesne 72
  14. I respectfully disagree with the esteemed Farmer Jones. If Joe focuses on QB and skill position transfers before bolstering the OL, DL and LB’s, we’re in trouble. Re-recruit Gibson. Make sure Mumpheld and Mathison are in the fold. Personally I’d be happy if Norrils stuck around. That’s where I’d focus my early skill position “recruiting.”
  15. I’d love to see a Reno back in Akron. Hope it happens.
  16. We’re getting a lot less offensively from Walton and X than anyone thought. I figured they’d be good for 20-25 per night combined? At least for last night, X took good care of the ball and hit some FT’s down the stretch. Do we remove the redshirt from a freshman? Or did last night show we have enough incumbent firepower to fill the Walton void?
  17. Todd Stroud is the former Zips coach with the health issue. He was a Bowden assistant.
  18. Pittsburg guy. Coached with Moorhead at UConn. Looking for a job. Makes sense.
  19. Only 2 wins were FBS (BG). Bryant was FCS. Even ouchier.
  20. Until prove otherwise, the osu game is our potential, and the Fordham and App State games are what we are.
  21. My guess regarding coaches - Maybe a Grad Assistant. That's about it. Incumbent Players? Whomever wants to stay, and buys into his program. 2022 Recruits - I'll guess a handful. Probably < 5 of those who remain committed would be offered by the new coach My guesses based on past "new regime" history...
  22. I assume there's a clause in Arth's contract that he loses his UA pay if he accepts a coaching gig elsewhere? Bowden took a grad student position and took UA's money. But Arth is young, and marketable as a position coach somewhere. UA will likely be on the hook for little, or none of Arth's salary if he ends up coaching elsewhere. At least that is my understanding.
  23. I doubt they'd leave positions with the Packers and Dolphins to be a Zips assistant. Maybe if they were fired and out-of-work, but that's it.
  24. Good 2017 SI Moorhead Article
  25. Completely disagree. @Hilltopper has thrown as many college TD passes as Marousek and Jankowski combined. In the transfer portal era there are scads of decent, disenchanted QB’s falling from the trees. If QB is a problem for the Zips next season, we have bigger issues than QB…we will have picked the wrong guy to turn around Akron’s football program. Just my opinion tho…😇
