Having it televised, on a Friday night, doesn't help in drawing a crowd. But I'll agree COVID has killed our attendance. It'll take some time to get it back up post-COVID too. Sucks, because we may have our best basketball coach ever...and have seen two of the Top 10 Zips players ever...and perhaps the best Zips basketball team ever...and few fans will have seen them work their craft in-person.

Non MAC, Non Zips College Basketball Thread
Captain Kangaroo posted a topic in Akron Zips Basketball
I heard an interesting stat while watching the Loyola/Bradley game tonight. There were 430 seniors that took advantage of getting an extra “COVID Eligibility Year.” Of those, only 30 stayed at their original university. Of those 30, 4 are from Loyola Chicago. Didnt know where to place this, so I created this thread. -
I hope some Zip steps up and gets in Carry’s grill the entire game.

Freeman is going to be a Top 10 all time Zip. He’s awesome every night. Wonder if he can develop a jumper in the off-season? -

@zippy5 as our resident western PA recruiting expert, do you have any feel for this kid? All-time leading rusher at Farrell is an impressive feat. -

Probably as good an explanation as any. That Akron Echo tweet does smack of dumping Gatorade on your coach when there’s still time remaining. I’m waiting for the clock to show all zeros before I begin any victory laps. -

Pinned atop his Twitter, he says he's 100% Committed to the Zips? That's a pretty high percentage. -

Those non-believers are the scum of the earth as far as I'm concerned. 😁 I'm happy the stars are aligning for Joe & Co. Putting together a nice class for having such an incredibly late start. Bowden predicted with the advent of the early signing period, that the traditional February signing day would fast become a "non-event". But it seems with the rampant transfers, coaching changes, rescinded scholarship offers, etc. February remains very relevant. Lots of talent remains available in January. -

I remember the story of Niko's father passing away last fall. Really sad. Hope the kid has a great Zips career. He definitely has the mental toughness you need to be a great kicker. -

2021-2022 Zips Women's Basketball

After the part of you that died then, and the part that died after the t-shirt cannon assault, what's left? -
We go as Trimble goes. The last good team we played was Kent...and we were run off the floor. Trimble was 1-9 from behind the arc (2-12 overall). If we omit the statistical anomaly of the 10-14 BG game, in his other 5 most-recent games he's a combined 5-39 from 3-point land. That's 13% over 5 games!? Even if you include that 10-14 performance against BG, he's still only 28% from three over 6 games. For the volume he shoots, that's a killer. Our rebounding suffers when balls are careening off the iron from 25 feet away. The Zips are good enough to eek out games against lower competition when Trimble is off. But if he hangs another 1-9 game against Toledo, we'll get smoked. Prediction: If Trimble hits 5+ 3's, we win. Anything less and the bus ride home ain't no fun.

There's a possibility of a 3-2 start? That's three season's worth of wins in "Arth Years."
