  1. Can we eek this one out without Woods AND Travis?
  2. Was sitting here watching and thinking the same thing - our web site and audio/video options suck. I can't get our 1350AM broadcast way out here 8 miles from Akron and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay for it. Nice to be able to sit here and actually watch it instead.
  3. No doubt we need this one if we hope to climb the ratings ladders.I also hope all of the guys come through finals OK and are eligible for the MAC portion of the schedule. I hate losing people because they didn't take care of business in the classroom.
  4. Wow, excellent thread.Holding firm on the 2PM start time for Tiffin on a Sunday afternoon when the Steelers are in town to play Charlie Frye and the Browns. Why NOT move the start time to 6PM?!? My two seats were empty at the JAR.Winston-Salem State - my 12-year-old son who bleeds Akron blue and gold asked if he could stay home but I MADE him go to the game. This is the same boy who talks Akron up at his middle school and helps to arrange a Zip night out for his Upwards! basketball team. I know - when you want 1-for-1 scheduling, you take what you can get but ... St. FRANcis (Pa.) - another dud that will see me dragging either my son or my 8-year-old daughter to the game. NEVADA! Thank you ESPN. EVERYWHERE I go, people are talking about ... uh, no, wishful thinking on my part and TERRIBLE sales and marketing (I hope I got that right) on the part of the U of A. THE game of the year other than Can't and what have we heard about it? Little if any mention of the game during the Winston-Salem game and even that was of the "oh, by the way ..." variety. I picked up tickets for my mother- and father-in-law and another for a former Akron student friend of mine who will be back in town that week. Why NOT mention SOMETHING over the PA system asking everyone to BRING A FRIEND to pack the JAR for the #19 Nevada Wolf Pack? (#25 or so now after their loss to UNLV) I've arranged for three additional butts in seats and I didn't even make much of an effort to do it!?! Same thing can be said for Loyola Marymount. It's Christmas break and many of us have family and friends coming back into town. These are quality opponents and the games would make for a great night out for people looking something to do with family and friends while in town.Hello, Mack, you guys are REALLY missing the boat!
  5. (nudge me if they show the "Zippy Kicks Other Mascots Asses" video)Zips 102-47.
  6. "Piss me off" exciting OR "We're going bowling!" exciting ?!
  7. I'd like to see him stay at CMU as well. Another in the growing list of MAC QBs to the NFL?
  8. DAMN! I think I missed that game ... OK, the mayor has only been spotted ONCE at a U of A event in recent years. I stand corrected!
  9. Wait a minute ... has Mayor Don been able to put his ego aside enough to see/recognize the University sitting in his own backyard?! I don't know the details behind the bug up his ass regarding his relationship with the U of A but I haven't seen him at a U of A event in years. Correct me if I'm wrong but I just don't see him giving a rat's about a new U of A football stadium.
  10. We had'em all the way ....
  11. Yeah, but these kind of games become pretty important when at-large births are being determined. Great opportunity to move up in the RPI and
  12. I love the idea (great run of beer commercials) but ... the Zippers were based on a product by the B.F. Goodrich Company, not Goodyear.
  13. We've got big games against Nevada and Loyola coming up in late December when students are on break and probably away from campus. I hope the UofA and AK-ROWDIE management make sure that the word gets out enough (billboards, newspaper, ZipsNation.org, whatever) to absolutely pack the JAR for Nevada in particular. It wouldn't hurt to have that happen for Loyola as well. Haven't seen anything so far. The JAR needs to feel like a Can't@Akron game when Nevada rolls into town.
  14. Akron is 0-1 when I give up the points and bet Akron to win (at Can't). I'm keeping my money in my pocket and going out to the Rubber Bowl Friday afternoon to enjoy some college football on what is shaping up to be a nice day for late November in Akron, OH. The forecast sure beats what we had for Can't last year. Go Zips! and here's to a little more success in 2007!
  15. I'm in Wally B's court - give Charlie an o-line that gives him a little more time and a running game that the defense has to respect and he'll be fine. Pretty easy for the defense when they can pretty much blow off the run game and key on the pass, including blitzing. The time Worthlessburger had in the pocket in the 4th quarter yesterday was obscene ...
  16. It's also a full-price scrimmage! Kinda like making Browns season ticket holders purchase pre-season tickets - it sucks. Not happy about the 2PM start and will be watching the Browns (and Charlie Frye) instead.
  17. Sorry, but I'm ready for Carlton Jackson. Getsy does not seem to make very good decisions under pressure ... 14-0 OU at the half.
  18. 54 seconds left in 1st. OU has ball on their own 37 1st and 10.
  19. Akron 3rd and 2 on their 29 but Getsy's pass to Harvey at the 35 was incomplete. Sounds like OU may have made contact before ball arrived but no penalty. 4th down.
  20. If you have broadband, you can listen on www.1350radiofreeohio.com.Zips started into the wind from their own 5 and made it as far as about the OU 45 before going backwards on a 9-yard loss to the Akron 46. From there, Getsy got flushed out of the pocket and threw an INT. Ohio started on their 35 or so but just went 3 and out. Akron starts their second drive on their own 34. 7:02 to go in the 1st quarter, no score.
  21. Final - Akron 89 G-W 61
  22. NO FREAKIN' KIDDING!?! DUH! Will be watching the Browns.
  23. 83-59 Akron w/2:45 to go.
  24. Milam dunk at the buzzer. Zips up 44-29 at the half. Half-way to Tiffin!
