  1. I'm still puzzled by the slower times in the finals. C. knows how to maneuver in the last half lap, he just didn't seem to have the gas in the tank that night. I haven't seen any comments by him yet on the race specifically.
  2. fyi, the ABJ is offering 6 months for $1 and you can cancel any time thereafter. Arguably, their coverage of Zips football for the season is worth at least $1 😐
  3. You mean Harry Reid International Airport? πŸ˜„
  4. C.M. human interest story
  5. And about now there are probably 6-8 AAC and MWC schools reaching out to the Big 12, again.
  6. Probably not that. Looks like a new round may be starting though. The MAC could be affected if the AAC has to look for some new members.
  7. So you're saying I could win an easy $20 if I'm willing to park $1,000 for the season (or at least until mid-Oct.)?
  8. 5) We're in vaccine-hesitant Ohio and there's a Covid Delta variant firing up...
  9. faculty layoffs fallout after a year.. https://www.the-daily-record.com/story/news/2021/07/15/university-akron-layoffs-tenure-one-year-later-lawsuit/7785699002/?utm_source=the-daily-record-Daily Briefing&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=daily_briefing&utm_term=list_article_thumb&utm_content=OHIO-WOOSTER-NLETTER65 Sue Ramlo, another professor on the list of those who were laid off a year ago who has taken on a leadership role with the group, said not one tenured faculty member who got laid off has found an academic position elsewhere. Following the layoffs, faculty members who lost their jobs and those who kept them pushed back hard on the university for not cutting more from athletics before cutting the academic side of the house. The athletics budget cut about $4 million, but still relies heavily on the university's general fund for support. With a goal of looking for ways to lessen that reliance, the university formed an athletics working group, which contained members of the faculty, to review the finances of the athletics department and make recommendations. After 10 months, the group released its findings and recommendations this month. Chief among them is increasing fundraising, through corporate partnerships and hiring additional people specifically for fundraising in athletics. It also stated leaving the Mid-American Conference and Division I was not a viable option, given the cost of leaving the league.
  10. So Buffalo and OU have lost their coaches and Can't may be next. Arth may be the dean of the MAC East before we know it.
  11. For some, NIL success will be more a result of their social media activity than their profile as an athlete. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/as-nil-rules-go-into-effect-these-ncaa-athletes-moved-quickly-to-profit-from-name-image-and-likenes Cavinder Sisters Fresno State women's basketball players Haley and Hanna Cavinder have racked up millions of followers on TikTok, and now the twins can capitalize on their social media prowess. The duo scored a deal with wireless carrier Boost Mobile that illustrates the possibilities for athletes who don't regularly play in the national spotlight. They also posted an endorsement for a nutrition company on Instagram along with a dollar symbolic of the new day in college sports.
  12. Very interesting how bodies seem to be optimized for a particular event and their own particular styles of running it. World-leading time for the kid from Ohio πŸ₯‡

  15. I saw on Twitter Heydinger had a complete game. From the photo it looks like he can unleash a filthy curveball.
  16. It's a good sign we're hiring well.
  17. Ivana, Ivanka, Golf .... reminds me of another family I know 😁
  18. Per footballscoop... ...So it’s possible Kotelnicki, Ianello and any other internal candidates could make more as KU assistants than as the UB head coach...
  19. Wow, I guess 56-yard FG's aren't good enough in the league 😐
  20. So does it say anything about his NFL career?
  21. I was there but the only thing I remember is the kick. I was thinking it was later in the season and frigid cold but obviously I'm confusing it with a different game. I also don't remember what happened with DA in the NFL after being drafted... did he make a team and get any FG's?
  22. Kudos on the streak and another strong result πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ
  23. Probably the 2 most similar schools in the MAC in terms of history, mission, size, etc., in the state's #4 and #5 sized cities. It would be a more natural rivalry than teacher colleges Kent for us and BG for them - if it weren't for the distance factor and the difference in football program history and community affinity/support.
  24. as of this morning i'm not having any problem viewing it. Akron Swimming and Diving Seeks Eighth Consecutive MAC Title https://gozips.com/news/2021/4/15/womens-swimming-diving-akron-swimming-and-diving-seeks-eighth-consecutive-mac-title.aspx Go Zips! (looks like U@B is the primary competitor)
