i am guessing they are referring to j.d. relinquishing the offensive coordinator duties and going to the spread offense. best of luck to sean but if you can't beat out the cj's and you can't pull another d-I scholarship then it was best the two parted ways when they did

MOREHEAD STATE 29th????????? i can't take this site seriously with rankings like that.... -
cap one question.....when talking about jac; were you getting the feeling that the people you spoke with were just giving lip service and allowing him every chance to win the job? Or, did you think that they truly believe that he has made that big a stride?

perhaps i misunderstood what "Snack Toads" said to me then........i completely agree though that financially the uw makes more sense.

from what i've heard akron didn't make the decision to drop kentucky. chryst did. both kentucky and wisconsin were ok with akron backing out but cryst made the choice for them with conference scheduling. chryst is an idiot and akron needs to get out of the mac asap. i agree that the big east would make a lot of sense for scheduling unless it's a school like iu.

Given our history, it would be a bathroom stall without a door on it and a Cambodian guy sitting on the toilet.that's got to make the hall.......well played sir!

Great...err..Highly Controversial Column By Bob Dyer
gozips19 replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
you are right they don't and can't offer scholarships but they can offer "leadership scholarships" ( proud recipient of one). also they can offer you a job with the school and the hours you work for the school go towards your tuition. if you happen to be an elite athlete some one will always find a way just they way it is...... with that being said i am a graduate of a public school. so i can see the pros and cons of the article. -
Is a conference shake-up happening sooner than later?
gozips19 replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips Football
something to keep in mind when bigger conferences are looking to add teams. tradition doesn't always play a factor as some would think. usf and ucf are perfect examples of this. conferences will look at facilities, growth potential, and possible tv market. akron will have the nicest stadium in the conference and the city has made it clear it wants to build an arena downtown for basketball. enrollment is up and the university has a president dedicated to into a powerhouse for northern ohio. ut and akron really are the two that can make the move at this point. c-usa fits the demographics (campus wise) and would elevate the university. rifle i do agree with you that mack has done a very good job in the fundraising department. his legacy will be if he can get the university in position to upgrade in conference affiliation. -
Humpty Signs Ceremonial LOI
gozips19 replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Basketball Recruiting
it will be tough to keep humpty off the floor next year. i have heard that ray is still on their radar and hope he can qualify in two years. also, i have heard that parrish had some grade issues and is now a question mark. hope that he is fine come fall as he could have a chance to see the floor as a frosh. -
Zeke Marshall Verbal commitment!
gozips19 replied to joshgozips's topic in Akron Zips Basketball Recruiting
from the nbe site and a quote from his aau coachMarshall’s height, 7’4” wingspan, and athleticism are all huge plusses for his future on the court. The fact that “he can run all day”, according to Klimchock, is another rarity for such a tall player. As far as defense, Klimchock, who is no stranger to talent having coached two-sport phenom Terrelle Pryor in high school, is not shy in his enthusiasm. “I think if you ask people around the country they will probably tell you that he is the best shot blocker in the class. He is phenomenal at it.”i agree......is it 09 yet????? -
spoke with a few people in the ad department yesterday and they hope to make an announcement soon and i will drop one hint about the potential game at the q. the team is south of akron and the game still isn't locked up.

Zeke Marshall Verbal commitment!
gozips19 replied to joshgozips's topic in Akron Zips Basketball Recruiting
huge! both figuratively and literally...... glad to have the big man on board!!!!!! side note, kind of surprised that psu didn't recruit him all that much. pretty sure his dad played there and played well. -
didn't see this the first time but there is a really good and honest story profiling robinson before the draft. here's that linkclick me

looks like big nate will sign with the akron giants.....i mean new york giants. click me

great post ZW! here's a little piece from a rivals article.Marshall isn't one to look past either. He was beaten by Buckles several times with the dribble drive but he also showed some fla.sh on the offensive end. He scored on three straight possessions by playing up to his size and length. Marshall scored with some one-handers in the paint and was good on the pick and pop on the baseline. He blocked two shots in that span and ran the floor for the reward.Marshall's game is a fla.sh here and a fla.sh there. The finish product is not in the near future and that is part of the intrigue with the big man. He lacks great strength but there is something about his game that will have the high-majors following him around this weekend.fyi. buckles is going to Louisville

Kyle Peterson to Walk On @ UA
gozips19 replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Basketball Recruiting
this kid sounds like another ryback to me hope i'm wrong and he earns himself a scholarship....best of luck kid! -
i did think he looked a little smaller than listed but is plenty tall and has much better footwork than jac. My guess is no. Sounds like lip service. Pitt run the other style spring game, JD knew that and that's what he went with (at the time).i am not so sure about that, due to lack of depth on the d line akron would have had a hard time with a traditional set up the past few years. if they would have gone that rout the d line would have had to played on both sides and that would have tired them out and increased the chances of injury. even with akron's increase in depth they still had to have a few o linemen play both ways this spring due to injuries. can't wait to see this game outdoors!!!!!!
-
he was out with a foot injury. the people i've talked to have said he's looked the best in practice last year and this year. only gripe is he doesn't like to block very much. i agree with your apprehension about the the pos moves of b will and jones....that was until i saw them at the spring game. both looked very comfortable and can be difference makers on the field. b will can be an impact player from day one and jones; while raw has this year and (hopefully) next to become the play maker that he showed flushes up this spring. only thing missing is for rodgers to step up and for bowser to live up to the hype. that happens and this team will be very good.
