  1. Just saw, our sister school from Portage County is playing Penn State at the Orleans in 3 hrs. Who's going to support?
  2. I had my timing off and missed this one. What's wrong with Patrick?
  3. Did anyone else notice that #10 for UCSB, Maxwell Kupchak is the son of Mitch Kupchak.
  4. Having mobile guards is the best aspect of Big West men's basketball. Other than that, I think the MAC has it over that league in all other areas, though they have a few good centers -- like UC-Irvine's 7-5 BIG man!
  5. One thing I notice is that we get a day off between games, while the other two teams have to play back-to-back games. Good work Keith and the DO.
  6. You there, 'topper? Was the crowd over 200?
  7. Having mobile guards is the best aspect of Big West men's basketball. Other than that, I think the MAC has it over that league in all other areas, though they have a few good centers -- like UC-Irvine's 7-5 center!
  8. We're just reaching our potential, with our guard talent. Need consistency from the bigs -- and free throw shooting!
  9. No comment.
  10. I kinda doubt they're better than UCSB, but we'll see.
  11. I was actually repeating what a Gaucho told me, so...
  12. At least you have SOMETHING!
  13. They were #3 SOS.
  14. Akron 16 ass'ts to 10 TOs.
  15. Women's basketball vs YSU streaming after this. How bad are Wahine Penguini? ;
  16. Offensive Rebound Big Dog! Then misses two FTs!
  17. School record for three pointers is...?
  18. Wonder how many Robothams and friends in the house.
  19. Only five offensive rebounds combined. 3-2 Gauchos.
  20. Akron 40-35 at half -- and 10 of 19 from three! Can we keep that up? Unlikely, though Big West defense is awful.
  21. 32-30. We've made 8/16 threes already? Holy cow!
  22. I got zip, i.e., nada, ninguna pintura.
  23. Yes -- they could have "won it all" in Hawaii...If they hadn't lost to Iowa State and South Carolina... ?!?!
  24. At this point in the season -- and perhaps in general -- RPI is based on Strength of Schedule. UCSB has played four PAC-12 teams, the best of them Cal, and has lost all by double digits except @ Arizona State, a 70-68 defeat. As I mentioned on the tournament thread, I know them well from the BWC, and they lost their only dominant player, "Big Al" Williams to graduation. He was two-time national rebounding leader, and a strong rim defender. This UCSB team has 10 freshmen! The two returners who can be trouble are both big guards (6-5 and 6-3). John Green, the 6-5 guard is athletic enough to score 15-20 pts most nights and is a good stand-up shooter. The same is true of Gabe Vincent, who scored about 25 vs Hawaii last year -- those guys are both very streaky shooters, who can stretch the floor to 20 ft. Since I haven't seen them (don't know how they haven't been on PAC-12 Net) this year, I can't really comment on any of the double-digit newcomers. UCSB's always a well coached team. Bob Williams has been the coach since Coleman Crawford was at the JAR. One more thing for those visiting to remember: If the Gaucho Locos head to Vegas for the Holidays, duck when the Gauchos score, because the tradition is to throw tortillas whenever they score a goal! Iona Gaels? They look form the sked like they would be below UCSB in rank -- and I don't think either of these teams could make the top half of the MAC.
