  1. I don't completely agree with that. With online reservations and reviews, people have the ability to find nice places to stay no matter the brand. We've stayed in only two or three "name" places in the past 7 years and we travel at least three times per year. But I do agree that there is a certain comfort in knowing what you'll get from a chain you've had some experience with. I'm curious how the renovation project by the Civic and Lock 3 was going. There were three old buildings that a developer was renovating for residential/retail.
  2. Interesting idea. Could be cool to have a stairway (think walkways similar to those Vegas, only covered?) up to the NW corner of High St and MLK at the bridge so access to the restaurants, shops, art museum, etc. is easier. There's lots of things nearby there to interest visitors: art galleries, park access (trails, train, Mustill Store, canal, new Schumacher Mill site), food... It would also be nice if the Innerbelt went back to being a top jazz club, but I'm not sure if that would be economically feasable anymore. A trolley loop (Main/Howard, Furnace, Summit, MLK/Perkins, High) could be another possibility. I know they run one similar to that, but I don't know how regular it is or if it's just for special events.
  3. Let's center that a bit more... econ -0.5 social -1.5
  4. Whoever gets him better have a Nike contract since he won't wear anything but Air Jordan.
  5. Congrats to Wood! Still miss that rebounding here.
  6. Well if they were to back out of a game with Akron, that would mean Akron would have to find a replacement game. Otherwise there would be no effect. In response to GP1's question, the answer is 40. You guys sure ask the tough questions. I'll go with 42; the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything. I enjoy both teams coming to the JAR because it brings more fans to the game. Also gives Zippy the chance to entertain the fans further by fighting with the 'guin and the vike.
  7. There was an article in the ABJ about it. The psych department having a "wall breaking" rather than a ground breaking.
  8. UA might not be able to, but someone else could and then in turn sell it to UA.
  9. Skyway onion rings yummmm...just had them for dinner tonight. wait is Skyway being built or not? I'm confused... According to the Summit County Recorder's office, the parcel on the NE corner of Exchange and Spicer transferred to UA Trustees on 18 Dec 2009. Perfect site for a real on-campus, multi-purpose, "Screw You Mayor, First Energy, University of Akron Arena. He and his "Joe Akrons" can call it a downtown arena just like they call everything north of North Canton, "Downtown". It's also possible they are just getting the land for parking... or not.

  11. New life! Let's get it done in OT!
  12. Not true at all. On TV they showed a stat that Kool torched everyone who guarded him...except Jimmy Conyers who guarded him half the game and Kool had less than 10 points against. Great job Jimmy!Kool is a great player. I liked watching because you could tell he was playing for fun and love of the game. I wish I saw that at the professional level but I suppose that is part of what makes amateur athletics so special.Nitro also defended him well at least a few times.
  13. Refresh the channelsurfing page and you'll see another link for the Akron game.tried that... still gives me the same linkback now

  15. Channelsurfing just switched from our game to an SEC game
  16. Actually Miami is 16, OU is 60 and OSU is 59 in the link provided.
  17. stumbled on this... some of you may already know about it but I thought I'd share since it seemed to be a popular topic in another thread. There are dropdowns for current and former players dating back to the '96-'97 season. There are also tabs for football, NBA, HS basketball, and NASCAR.
  18. Don't forget B. McKnight's "stellar" 4 points on 1-5 fg, 1-3 3s performance.
  19. Landing Sampson is a pipedream. Mainly because he's going to be able to pick just about whoever he wants. Secondly, he's not a true hometown kid. He lives in Cuyahoga County (Solon). He just happens to attend high school in Akron.Wonder if he knows or has any ties with CJ Oldham.
  20. One of the best parts of the schedule is going to be ruining homecoming for Can't
  21. not to mention the travelling call at the end of the game with less than a second left
  22. Heaven forbid the student union allows liquor inside. Too must risk. There were also talks of putting a tanning salon in there but too much risk for that too. The Planet Underground Lounge is now open starting at 5pm each night. I encourage everyone to check it out.Too much risk? Are you being sarcastic?...im confused. The sad part is that I am not being sarcastic.Back in my day <insert old man voice> they had beer in the Student Center. No one rioted. No one died. We drank beer, ate pizza and then went on with our day/night.crappy beer mind you, but beer nonetheless.
  23. I'd gladly substitute LSU, Penn State, Iowa, or Indiana for Malone in our schedule, not that they would ever agree to a 1-for-1.
