Nick isn't going to comment on something that doesn't affect his program. Is Bama the reigning National Champ? No? Then Nick has to do something to fix whatever is closing the gap on his dynasty. Bama was already losing their 4* depth to other program because of the open Transfer Portal, now they have to share the top level recruits with TAMU and Jackson State thanks to NIL. Jimbo had one of the greatest couple year runs at FSU before fleeing to avoid any NCAA investigation. When he can buy talent, he can win, and that scares old Nicky Poo. NIL and Transfer Portal are absolutely leveling the playing field.

Nick should keep his mouth shut, along with 70-80% of P5 coaches. The NCAA neglected to investigate the underground NIL market P5 schools have been participating in for years, and it got out of control (hence why there are only a couple teams capable of competing for the National Title year in and year out). I'm sorry Nicky didn't get the top recruits that Jackson State got or that TAMU "bought". Not sure how he'll survive.

Just made this my profile pic. The more I look at this, the more I believe they need to make the subtle change of adding the line(s) to highlight the Z in the logo. It adds that special flare that helps make it identifiable with the University of Akron Zips.

To answer your last question - yes. The piece missing from your equation is the improvement in the coaching staff. This staff is going to put the guys on the field in much better positions to make plays and win games. The offense is almost fully revamped with P5 guys. The defense has P5 guys littered throughout. JoeMo hasn't gone less than .500 in his other 2 first years as a HC. I don't expect anything less than .500 this year, even if we don't add anyone (and I expect to add a few more key impact players).

This is more what they should have gone with. But I still like the new A overall.

The summer of '09, Pete and Larry Jr. participated in the Akron summer basketball camp. Larry Jr. was noticably on a different level than his age group (high school), and Pete was the same way (elementary school?). One of the nicest families you'll ever come across. Had the pleasure of actually playing on Larry Jr.'s 3 on 3 team (we won the camp tournament), and they trained at Springside where I took tennis lessons so I ran into them quite often. Would love to see one of the Nance boys wear the Akron Blue & Gold.

I don't know if it's the quality of the video, but I am incredibly surprised by how much I like the logo. At first glance I hated it, but after seeing the video highlight the Z built into it, I love it. That is a sharp, modern, timeless design. I don't know if they can do more to highlight in the logo itself that the Z is there, but if they can or word gets out, this gives the University a notable and recognizable A. Arizona, Atlanta, Alabama, and Army have recognizable A's and this is unique from those which is key. Again, I think the video is the best marketing tool they have and many won't ever watch it, but that was well done and gave me a new, positive perspective on the logo after first glance.

Whatever they do, it has to be timeless. We have 3 premier sports programs ready to take their respective next steps in notoriety, and the goal should be to establish a logo that becomes recognizable and synonymous with the University of Akron.

What @LZIp said. They go by PCCC, Brimfield College, Rootstown U, Ravenna West, Can't State, KSUcks, etc. So many synonyms for "Failure".
