  1. Nobody sneeze around this team. I don't want a flu situation again.
  2. 2 tickets bought. If you're not going through Akron, you can use PAT30 for $30 off your purchase on Seat Geek.
  3. When will the times be officially announced? On paper, this is the best possible matchup for Akron I think. No matter who were playing, we knew we were going to have to make our shots. So with that factor being a given, here is why I love this matchup... - Creighton is only 6-7 deep. They have 4 guys that play 30+ minutes, 2 guys that play 21-22 minutes, and another that is 9.8 minutes per game. In terms of production, they're even more thin, with 3 guys averaging 17-18 ppg, another averaging 10.7 ppg, and then the next closest is 5.7 ppg. - They're top producer is a 6'7" "guard" named Baylor Scheierman. 18.4 PPG, 9(!) RPG, an 86.8% FT shooter, 37.2% 3P shooter, and 44.8% overall from the field. Ali Ali will most likely be on him. Not sure you can stop him, but slowing him down is going to be required. - Creighton is 177th in the country in possessions per game, and only 1.5 possessions more per game than Akron. We're not going to get ran out of the gym with pace; the only way we get blown out is if we don't hit our shots, meaning there's a decent chance we're in the game start to finish. - Creighton is 94th in the country in opponent points against at 69.7. Akron is 30th in the country at 66.8. Regardless of the competition level, defense travels. This will be a strong defensive matchup overall. - Creighton's guards, outside of Scheierman, are 6'3" or shorter. We have the height advantage in the backcourt, and I don't believe they have any quick, shifty guards that can give us fits like Santiago, Sullinger, or Jaylin Hunter. Tribble staying out of foul trouble will be a massive factor. - Creighton has the height advantage in the front court with their center, Ryan Kalkbrenner, being 7'1" and their other 2 semi-contributing forwards (Mason Miller and Isaac Traudt) being 6'9" and 6'10" respectively. I don't know Kalkbrenner's game, but against Freeman, bigger isn't always better with how quick Enrique's moves are. If we don't make our shots, none of this will matter; we'll get blown out. If we make our shots, game on.
  4. I'll post more in the game thread once @clarkwgriswold creates one, but on paper, I LOVE this matchup. Creighton is only 6-7 deep and while they do have some height, their production mainly comes from 4 guys. It's a big drop off in production after their top 4.
  5. AKRON vs. CREIGHTON! PITTSBURGH!
  6. WAIT PITTSBURGH IS BACK IN PLAY!
  7. Oakland vs. Kentucky as the 14 vs 3 in Pittsburgh. Damn. Get ready to fly west!
  8. Wish granted - Illinois in Omaha vs. Morehead St. Duquesne gets BYU. Drake and SDSU also in that bracket as Zips OOC opponents - Drake a 10 seed, SDSU a 15 seed vs. Iowa St - oof.
  9. Congratulations to our resident Illini fan - @Illini Zip - and his Illinois Fighting Illini on winning the Big Ten Tournament!
  10. Rollins fouled Tribble Pinky started crying hard Akron goes dancing
  11. I wonder how much they influenced his decision to redshirt this year. Coming into the season, I felt like he could easily contribute as a freshman, and was very disappointed that he decided to redshirt. From his high school highlights, he looks like a stretch 4 that could've been instrumental this season. Oh well. Really hope he decides to stay at Akron and make a name for himself - he could be special.
  12. Out of reactions, but yes, good call out.
  13. The plan was to use our two tallest, but slower guys to force Sullinger towards one side of the court, shielding the other side with the height, and having Ali Ali with his length and speed cover Santiago & Bekelja in the event Sullinger did somehow get it to an open guy over there. Once Sullinger got too deep, he became solely Freeman's man and he was moving towards the baseline, not the basket, making the shot that much tougher. It was brilliant, and it was setup because Groce used the timeout for that purpose. Meanwhile, that was made possible because Pinky didn't make sure his team was on the same page.
  14. What did Groce do after the made free throw by Tribble? Groce owns Pinky for a reason.
  15. Pinky should've called a timeout after their basket so they could get setup and on the same page as a team.
  16. You should see my shocked face that a Kent player would make a stupid, immature decision.
  17. If I found them all, that wouldn't be fun for others. 😉
  18. Sharron Young had a game winning 3 in state championship game.
  19. We are very borderline 13/14 according to these rankings.
  20. For those who haven't seen this, this is getting as much publicity as Kent's blunder last night. It's the ball throw towards the end that really gets me. 🤣
  21. We interrupt the Pinky love-fest to bring you a new segment... Find a Pinky Pose!
  22. Definitely picking up 2 of these - there's a non-auto version with multiple variations, and there's a sticker-auto version. Loren Christian-Jackson also has some cards from 2020-21 if anyone collects Zips cards.
  23. What if I told you I went through that video last night and grabbed 7 screenshots AND made a meme with them?
  24. No, but he was one of the 4 main contributors that got suspended. By the way, Kent St MBB Twitter still hasn't posted a final score graphic.
