  1. A well deserved vacation.
  2. I don't know... I've read Beaven's movie reviews and they just don't match up with what Georgie can cut and paste from real critics. Rimshot!
  3. Sadly, for all the depth we have, we only have one true PG & we play like an entirely different (i.e., worse) team w/o Rico.
  4. What an emotional jerk ride we've been on. To go, in three-weeks time, from rumors of Jim Tressel to the difficult reality of losing out on Paul Winters.
  5. I am still waiting on Keener to show up for a basketball game. The next game is wednesday, a day you said you would be available to attend. Believe it or not, I actually planned on coming tonight, but then I heard the news about PW and my head almost exploded, ending my plans. Exactly my mood tonight. I had been looking forward to the YSU game for quite a while, but tonight I was too bummed to even get out of the house. I just sat around & watched the game online.
  6. +1. He's the best thing to happen to Akron since Seiberling invented rubber.
  7. I'd like to think that he'll feel as though KD has taken a special interest in him & is truly interested in his basketball development. KD really is an excellent coach. Also, playing in the MAC will afford Tree the opportunity to work on his game at a more comfortable level than if he played in a Big Six conference - much akin to Zeke's situation. Also, playing pickup ball w/ LeBron every summer can't hurt our chances of keeping him around (and bringing in others like him).
  8. Do you ever watch any games on TV with Montana St, Montana, Northern Iowa, Appy St, Ga Southern, etc? Coaches at programs like these have absolutely nothing to gain by coming here (great crowds, similar pay). The guy at Lehigh or someone like Rob Ambrose from Towson might present a different story. My point is, we had better be looking at mid-to-lower level FCS teams/conferences to have a realistic shot. Those Montana & Montana State crowds are awesome. Right now, I'd actually say we'd be a step down for those coaches!
  9. I would be absolutely jacked to see MB as the full-time Zips beat writer! He actually cares about both our fine city and university.
  10. It honestly may be as simple as this. He's not as young as he once was.
  11. Good to see you post, dude. I'm wearing black right now.
  12. For what its worth, I do think it will turn out that Akron just hired a pretty good baseball coach. I don't know exactly how much of a hand TW had in that search. Of course that hiring pales in comparison to that of one of the "money programs" at the university. It does pale in comparison. The kids like to say, "Epic Fail!" Well, with this football situation, TW pulled a truly Epic Fail. A fail costing the U literally millions of dollars. And $65 million worth of potential InfoCision Stadium/Summa Field momentum absolutely flushed down the . EPIC FAIL.
  13. Okay, thanks for the tip. I take back my GT comment. And to be clear, I really do appreciate Michael Beaven's work.
  14. Very true, but facilities are still necessary in the NCAA football "arms race." I just can't believe how big a bust iCoach was. He was utterly incompetent in absolutely every respect. He was an awful recruiter. He was an awful evaluator of talent. He was an awful strategist. He was an awful in-game coach. He was an awful communicator. He was an awful face of the program. He was an awful motivator. He had an awful sideline demeanor. He sucked, and sucked absolutely. But that is entirely on TW's head. TW is honestly driving me away from being a Zips' fan. And (since I don't personally know anyone from ZNO) I can easily say that I am the biggest Zips fan that I know.
  15. Great to see George Thomas all over this HUGE story! Here is Michael Beaven's contribution from the Akron Beacon Journal.
  16. Simple. Get rid of TW!! IF,this is true,I hope this puts to rest the idea than some had that just because Akron has 'nice facilities' that coaches would fall all over themselves to get here. Now because of the history and the people who are currently running the show, the program has to take what appears to be the leftovers. Whether or not this signals Wistrcill's exit,we'll see. Wouldn't be surprised. HOPEFULLY,and hope is all we have, whoever is hired can get this turned around in a couple of years. Otherwise, this program is going to continue to freefall to who knows where! I think we're now officially in hell. It can't get any lower than hell, right? Well, perhaps we're still on the 1st ring of hell? If that's the case we can expect to follow TW down to the 9th circle.
  17. I’m stunned, for certain. I wasn’t in the room but I can’t imagine Paul getting a great offer and saying, “That’s a great offer, no thanks.” So I conclude there wasn’t an offer made that was good enough to lure him out of a comfortable situation. I’ve been thinking his options were Akron or Wayne, but who knows, in 12 months there may be another couple dozen openings better suited for him. I can see Paul feeling a certain obligation to his school, but not this athletic department. Who knows, there may be a time when Akron & Paul’s needs align. Hopefully the faithful here won’t hold this against him, he wasn’t involved in the hype & excitement of this site; he didn’t snub you. I however, did participate to feed and feed off the excitement of his possible hire. I really wanted to enjoy UA football again. But without the PW buzz, I don’t think this will be as fun. Take care all. This was a one shot deal. Paul Winters will never be offered this job again. The administration can ill afford to have a D2 coach, let alone a former player and alum say thanks, but no thanks. It is an enormous black eye to the program. I have already gotten several texts from friends today talking about how pathetic our football program is because we couldnt even get a former player to come here that is coaching D2 in the slums of inner city Detroit. It is truly pathetic. PW is a native Akronite. A St.V/M alum. A former Zip RB. A UA alum. A D-II coach. Located in inner-city Detroit. And said, "Naw."
  18. Just ask for two in the first row of the loser's section. You can say that again!!! We're clicking tonight (why can't we click every night? some night's we're awful.) and so YSU is running into the proverbial buzzsaw. But YSU is a good looking team - athletic, quick & can definitely shoot the 3. They lack bigs. But I can see why eguins is excited about this team. I'd love to see Eargle sporting blue and gold (and grey ).
  19. Who does he remind you of? That's a good question, which I don't really know the answer to. But with his height, muscularity, explosiveness & all-around athletic ability, if he keeps improving his mid-range jumpshot & defense, I just think he could find his way onto an NBA bench.
  20. This has me so bummed I didn't even go to the YSU game tonight. I'm just slumming @ home watching the game online.
  21. Good grief, if Tree keeps steadily progressing he's NBA.
  22. I'm glad to see ChaUncey get the start tonight. Lumberjack will be glad to see that I've learned how to spell Chauncey's name.
  23. Damion Eargle is tough. He had a rough go of it here last year, but he's averaging over 10 ppg & over 4 blocks per game.
