  1. This is a good conversation, @kreed5120. Thank you. While I still think, if we were to build a true D-1 arena, the capacity should be 7,500, and I also think that across from Canal Park would be a perfect location... I also would be satisfied if it were on Exchange Street. I think the block between Allyn & Kling, where Thursday's Lounge & the Starz Market currently sit would be a good spot. If that block's not big enough, then cross over Kling & go from Allyn to Kathryn Place. Exchange is a major road in/thru downtown & would have auxiliary benefit to downtown restaurants/bars (which in turn would have auxiliary benefit to the U, especially after the city completes the Exchange Street Corridor project. I want Akron to be a college town!).
  2. I'm close to your thinking, @72 Roo. I think 7,500 would be ideal. I definitely see where you're coming from, @kreed5120. I often think about how electric the JAR can get and the old saying comes to my mind, "Don't know what you've got till it's gone." But if we were to build a true D-1 arena (especially if it were downtown and able to attract more casual fans, which the JAR really doesn't) we should go for it & shoot for around a 7,500 capacity (just a shade less than Canal Park seats).
  3. If any of you are on Twitter get on there and tell him he looks good in the blue & gold!
  4. Certainly not great, but not bad either. I don't see any loges.
  5. Good description of Zach's play. Very, very good high school baller but I was also surprised to see this as I'm not sure Zach's athleticism is at this level. Very similar to Evan. So I'm guessing this is also a walk-on opportunity. Both players could do well at a lower level but they want to test themselves against the best. I love it. At the worst Zach will be a fantastic practice player as he's intelligent, big-bodied, and always gives 100%. Someone you want on your team for the culture.
  6. Any idea of whether Zach is a walk-on or on scholarship?
  7. We got a verbal from Walsh Jesuit SG Zach Halligan. Don’t know if he’s a walk-on or on scholarship.
  8. 3:00 p.m.
  9. It's been working fine on both my Mac & iPhone.
  10. I agree w/ everyone here. IMHO Enrique is the best post I've ever seen play for the Zips. I'm even putting him ahead of Jeremiah Wood - possibly my all-time favorite Zip. On my short list he's also ahead of Romeo Travis, Zeke Marshall, and Tree Treadwell. Enrique will make good money playing professional ball... just not in the NBA. He'd have an excellent shot at the NBA if he played in the 80's, but not nowadays. He's simply not big enough. In today's NBA, at Enrique's size, you've got to be able to stroke 3's from 10 feet behind the line. Today's NBA players are just insanely talented.

  12. I'm confused. 1. These guys could barely see the field for us. 2. Our OL was a weak spot... possibly the worst in the MAC. 3. But these guys are getting offers from programs we're trying to catch up to. 🤨
  13. Interestingly, the article doesn't mention us as having offered most of these guys.
  14. Really? That's strange. Lol
  15. As far as us being upperclassmen-laden next season, and it looking like we'll be gutted after next year, we may just be getting used to the new Transfer Portal Era norm of college basketball. It's tough to take high school seniors and wait 2 years (or possibly never) for them to develop into consistent contributors, all while crossing your fingers they don't transfer out, when you can recruit a known commodity junior who you can plug-in-and-play? After next year's graduating seniors depart we'll still be left with PG - Tavari, Shammah W - Shammah, Prather, Nate, Marvin P - Amani, Darrion, Marvin Plug a couple ready-to-play upperclassmen transfers into that lineup and I still think you've got something.
  16. Not the outcome you'd like (EMU-9, AKR-2), but it was a beautiful day for baseball yesterday
  17. From what I can tell (2¢) Bass hasn't been offered by anyone yet. I'd be extremely excited if we landed Bass. 6'4" big-bodied shooting guard with a scorer's mentality and has proven he can fill it up. I love Nate's athleticism but don't know if he'll ever develop that edge mentally, and Prather is a complete unknown (to us, of course - in Groce I trust).
