  1. While killing time waiting for the next big Zips recruiting news, I visited the transfer portal and focused on the MAC from a slightly different perspective than I did last time. The punter/kicker who committed to the Zips is not listed on 247 or here (probably a walk-on) but would be classified as a LOWER.
  2. I just visited 247 and they have all our commits and transfers listed except one. The last time I remember them paying that much attention to the Zips was never.
  3. Sounds reasonable. 247 has him as the 58th best tackle in the country and 27th best player in Michigan. https://247sports.com/player/kamarii-landers-46100998/
  4. Yes, but he shouldn't get too carried away. Removing the restroom stall doors and replacing the urinals with horse troughs is not recommended. I'm beginning to suspect that the Zips will not have the lowest-rated recruiting class this go around.
  5. Neither being targeted as a football recruit this year.
  6. Wow! Perhaps Akron should investigate becoming a degree mill.
  7. Transfers coming in from Auburn, BYU, Hawaii, Minnesota, and Utah should provide them with some relief. There is no return game scheduled and they are paying us money to show up, so technically it is a money game, but it is hard to believe they would come up with seven figures.
  8. I could have sworn we had 3 payday games coming up, but I just looked at the official schedule and only see Tennessee and Michigan State. Was I imagining the third?
  9. Partial agreement here. MAC schedule can't come soon enough. Getting through 3 payday games is still likely to be painful.
  10. Are there plans for the university to post a real time official list of commits?
  11. Based on the number of times I'm seeing the name Joel Rodriguez show up on 247, I'm thinking he must be spending about 28 hours a day recruiting.
  12. I hope you aren't implying that the hall monitor is too stupid to grasp cerebral humor. I for one have come to appreciate his well-thought out postings on Zipsnation. His insights have ranged from criticizing posters who posted comments that were not supportive enough of Zips football to applying the laser-focus of an outsider to the poor organization of the current staff and how it was preventing them from locking up commits because there was no way for prospects to contact them. All members of Zipsnation are urged to be more supportive of the hall monitor. In my mind he can do no wrong. .
  13. I don't do Facebook. But I'm assuming you are referring us to Adrian Martinez? Booty calls will no longer require long-distance car rides for him next season. He had really good numbers for 2 of 3 years at Nebraska, and unfortunately a knack for making game-killing mistakes late in way too many games. If he could avoid injuries (which he was prone to as a Husker) he would make a decent defensive back at the next level.
  14. I'm with you man. I don't think any of these boys be the perfect fit. Let's get a real coaching staff in here that know whats what.
  15. I don't know if we ever got a verbal from a 4* straight from high school, but I do know we have never secured a LOI from one.
  16. Kind of slow lately! So, here is my rationalization. The staff has actually secured numerous additional commits, but they are withholding announcements so as not to discourage targets that remain uncommitted.. Yes, that's it; I'm sticking with that.
  17. I'm hopeful, but I'm not getting too excited until the hall monitor tells us he thinks the kid is a good fit.
  18. One of the ESPN3 announcers just mentioned the "enthusiastic, large crowd." On the screen, it looks like many of them are dressed like empty chairs.
  19. Because there seems to be so much debate whether the 5*, 4*, 3* and 2* system adequately measures athletic talent, I propose a new trademarked rating system. This system is based on the apparent magnitude of all known stars (excluding the sun) rather than either the stars absolute magnitude or its distance from Earth. This criterion results in the following four categories: Sirius, Canopus, Rigel Kentaurus and Arcturus. This system should provide welcome relief to the severely mathematically challenged, and the only drawback I predict is that for a while we all are going to have to suffer through sentences that include, for example “the canopus (formally 4*) wide receiver…), similar to what we experienced when 1AA was replaced by FCS. I’m looking forward to the day when the Zips nab their first Sirius. Go Zips.
  20. I think you had it right the first time.
  21. If we can't get this kid an NIL deal with....... Three Little Pigs Dijon Mustard, Maille Dijon Originale, Roland Extra Strong Dijon Mustard, French's Dijon Mustard, Koops' Dijon Mustard, or Grey Poupon Dijon Mustard; somebodies not trying.
  22. Oh no! But, this has to be good news for a D2 or D3 coach somewhere.
  23. The situation does not look promising for them. With the number of D1 scholarships being offered to high schoolers dramatically reduced by the portal, the odds of one being offered to a zero star athlete (I know stars don't matter) are not good.
  24. I agree you initially had it correct, but then you contradicted yourself 22 hours ago. Please stop flip-floping, you are embarrassing yourself.
  25. Ok sport, even if you were limiting the discussion to what the Zips have done (which was not clear), you are absolutely wrong about official visits being limited to commits. If that is what they have been doing (which I doubt), rest assured it will change now that we have a legitimate D1 head coach. Everything else you claimed about official visits, except that which I have already expressed agreement with, may occur but is not universally the case. End of discussion because I'm pretty sure you are not going to get it.
