It looks like we lost a player to another powerhouse team. BUGS ended the latest (shortened) season with a better record than the Zips; 2-11 versus 1-12. They finished the 2019 season in 8th place in the MAC with 8 wins in 26 conference games, and 16 wins out of all 49 games in which they participated. I wouldn’t put it past the Zips being able to match or surpass that record if we ever get a full season in because with the exception of PCCC, the Sweaters, Testicle Tech, and CMU, MAC baseball sucks the big one.

Class of '21 Verbal Commits

Hard to believe we beat out both Tiffin and Findlay. -
Good news. We can replace all the guards on the Zips roster with the 9 ACC/BIG guards still not showing a target school on the transfer portal. Unfortunately there are no centers available from the ACC/BIG and only 2 forwards. Interestingly, they show Wynn leaving WF, but don't as yet show Wynn going to the Zips.
-
I believe bigjim's point was that Wynn's production at WF was anemic. I don't see where bigjim said you couldn't decide for yourself what good news is to you.

Have you spoken to him? Your second sentence is exactly why I asked the question. The good news is that all is not lost if a player does not speak English. There are way too many cases where an individual's skill set was pretty much limited to basketball and a tenuous grasp of the English language.(my favorite was the guy who disclosed that he could not read after graduating from Creighton). And yet academic advisors were able to find enough basket-weaving classes to keep these individuals eligible for four years. But, the advisor's task would be more complicated if the player does not speak English.

Athlon has 5 Zips on its preseason list as opposed to the three on Lindy's list, but in both cases we have the fewest selections of any team in the MAC. https://athlonsports.com/college-football/mac-football-2020-all-conference-team

Well let's analyze this. We are adding what is arguably the worst recruiting class in the conference to what was clearly the worst team in the conference last season. COVID-19 appears to be the most likely factor to prevent another long season; although miracles do happen. Go Zips.

I'm thinking his one game suspension to start off 2020 convinced him his dwindling minutes weren't likely to increase if he stayed put. Hope things work out for him here.

Read the article. Laughed out load when I got to this quote from the kid, “Once I’m committed, I’m committed." Reminds me of my ex-wife. -
Does he speak English?
-
He does look tall.

Who can really blame the kid (Oakland was the first D1 school in Michigan to add esports as a varsity sport)? Additionally, the Oakland baseball team won 11 of their 48 games in their most recent full season and finished two games ahead of Youngstown State who finished last in the Horizon League only 13.5 games out of first.

I have so many questions. Here are a few. When is the esports season: efall or espring? How will it be determined who the home eteam is for each ematch? Is it true that each esport will have weight classes just like wrestling? Will there be ereferees for all ematches? Will the eplayers jerseys have numbers (will fractions be allowed)? Does UofA plan to allow beer sales at the egames? Will there be a time limit on each ematch or could an ematch go on and on for eons? Has Akron announced a head ecoach yet? Is there a limit on how many assistant ecoaches/etrainers/emanagers/eetc. each eteam can have?

Actually the number at the time I posted the article on ZipsNation was at least 100 because between publication of the article and my posting here Wright state dropped three sports. One thing that makes the Wright State cuts extremely interesting is that they knew the cuts would drop them below the minimum number of sports required to qualify as a DI school. They plan to petition the NCAA for a waiver after the fact! I think I heard the AD and university pres mumbling their new mantra "I have always relied on the kindness of strangers." -

2020-2021 Akron Zips Basketball- Looking Forward

It may just be dulusionalism on my part, but I'm nominating this post for the ZipsNation Haul of Fame. -
How does one quantify cultural fit between players in order to determine if the statistical correlation between it and winning is significant?
-
I've read on ZipsNation that the number of commits and especially stars don't matter and yet a recent peak at 247 Sports suggests to me that we have the 10th strongest 2020 recruiting class ahead of only Ohio and Buffalo. And plenty of room for improvement regarding the 2021 class. Please tell me stuff that will make me feel better about this situation. 2021. MAC Rank School commits 3 star 1 Mia 17 10 2 Tol 14 13 3 niu 13 7 4 wmu 10 5 5 cmu 13 7 6 Buf 5 5 7 bugs 6 5 8 TTech 7 3 9 pccc 9 3 10 OU 3 2 11 emu 1 1 12 Akr 4 0

In a heart beat. A better contract would have paid him $24K per win. 12-0 gets him his $300K and would have dramatically reduced his salary for last season, but I don't want to see his family using food stamps so how about $100K base and $17K per win. -
I suggest that in addition to dressing each doll in an appropriate manner for a football game, each doll should also be wearing a COVID-19 mask. Otherwise TV viewers might wonder why so many of our fans appear to be perpetually surprised at something. ?

It's too late for you, but current students should be aware that one can miss some really interesting stuff by avoiding all the services and venues that you did. For example, I remember the day a heavy set young lady accidently launched herself down one of the bowling lanes in the student union basement. The force of her landing sprung one of the hardwood boards up just enough to spear her lower leg before returning to its rightful place among the other boards; pinning her to the ally. It took the firemen what to her must have seemed like a,really long time to cut her free (they cut the boards, not her leg). The pool hall, swimming pool, and rock climbing wall also offer the possibility of observing someone doing something really dumb. -

Are these both supposed to be bad things or does one offset the other? -
