  1. Hakes, who guided Nolan Catholic High to a 22-4 record and Texas state titles in 2004 and 2005, chose Akron over Bowling Green, Colorado State and Mississippi because he felt the Zips' pro-style passing offense suited him.But when offensive coordinator Jim Pry left after Hakes' first season for Illinois, Akron switched to a West Virginia-style spread option. Hakes wasn't comfortable with the new system and left.http://www.delawareonline.com/apps/pbcs.dl...300357/0/NEWS01
  2. Wasn't 2007 Moorhead's first year as Offensive Coordinator/QB coach? (IMHO, it should have also been his last year in this position.)

  4. I'm 100% with your son. I was very happy to read this yesterday!
  5. Absolutely you can copy. Have at it. No pride of authorship...just pride in my Alma Mater!
  6. I much prefer the gold myself. It looks great on my mailbox.Awesome. Simply awesome. I just found my Sunday project.... :thumb: Thanks. I have received a number of compliments from my neighbors.

  8. That's too bad about the opponent at the Q; KD was excited about it. But, screw them. I used to be a big fan of theirs, but I'm finally sick of them and their wanting to control everything. I think a better opponent for us would be West Virginia...even if we'd have to play them at the Q. I'd love to establish a good rivalry with our former coach.
  9. [/The end]I know you better than you know yourself. lolYou just don't like it when someone disagrees with your position and sounds valid doing it.Yes, you asked for snide, now your getting it.[The end /]You're wrong. I think this is the first time I posted a response such as I did. With me it's not so much that the settlement was against UA for such a large amount as it is there are so many, including you, who think "let's stick it to the government or the big university" or "the government has to take care of me". WE are the government. And being selected as a juror brings a huge responsibility to be impartial and fair to all parties. No way is $1M for a parking lot fair.
  10. I'll be honest...kiss my @ss with your "holy-er than thou" attitude. Yes, they won because there are so many STUPID people out there willing to give someone $1M for a parking lot or spilling hot coffee in there own lap.okay, you disagree with me and it pisses you off, and since I didn't insult anyone, you have to claim I have a "holier than thou" attitude. Just like the topic, above, I think you need to get over it.Our disagreement didn't piss me off. The snide way you put it did! The end.

  12. Actually what amazes me in jury cases like this is the stupidity of jurors who don't realize that Ohio taxpayers, including them, are the people who foot the bill. Keep on awarding ridiculous settlements like this and then ask why Ohio's taxes and in-state tuition are so high.
  13. I had a GREAT time at the banquet. I ate, but I wasn't there for the food. KD told everyone that some year we'll get this thing right, it is about sharing time with each other, celebrating our program and good times together. (He'd like everyone to show up in shorts and T shirts.) That's exactly what I was there for...to let my team know how much I appreciate them and to let them know I'm confident they will continue to build on their successes. It was great opportunity to talk to the seniors and let them know how much I appreciated them and to wish them the best in their futures. As for the opponent at the Q, KD seemed to think they would be able to announce that very soon.
  14. Thanks zipseuph for the words to "Win for Akron"...You would think the lyrics would be written somewhere. As for the logo, I guess it will always be a matter of opinion...the "A head" looks much better TO ME than any other logo UA has ever had. I definitely prefer the true gold & blue as opposed to the yellow when I was a student. As far as the words to UA's fight song, it's nothing to get so worked up over. Not that it matters, but even the dreaded school in our state capital has issues with the words to it's fight song...I think I've seen at least 5 versions of "Across the Field" or "Fight the Team" or "Fight the Team Across the Field", or whatever it is officially entitled. My high school may have been small, but thank goodness it had its own original fight song rather than duplicating that one as numerous Ohio high schools do.
  15. I'm with you GoZips19, I'm extremely happy they did away with the moving A. I like the current logo (the A Head); I don't understand when they make polo shirts why they don't have the logo with "The University of Akron" underneath it. I think that would look good. One new tradition that I've heard mentioned is the band marching from Gazetta Hall across campus to the stadium on game days.Zippy is the BEST.Also, does anyone know if there are words to "Win One for Akron"? (I think that's the song title, but I can never find lyrics for it.)And of course...
  16. How about Cleveland State's run the same year that Huggins took the Zips to the NCAA..."Cleveland State University became the first #14 seed to reach the Sweet Sixteen." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1986_NCAA_Men...ball_TournamentClick on Bracket, and you'll see 15 Akron vs 2 Michigan in the Midwest Region (I remember watching in the Chuckery in Gardner Student Center)
  17. UMass 78 Florida 66, if ESPN's website is correct. Zips loss by 5 (on UMass floor) lookin' ever better.
  18. Perhaps the announcement is that LeBron and Nike are purchasing the Can't State University and turning it back into an open field, like what happened to the Richfield Coliseum.Personally, I love LeBron because he so p*sses off K.SUcks fans.
  19. Impressive that the Zips held UMass to 68 on their home court! UMass 81 - Syracuse 77 at Syracuse in front of 20,000+
  20. Quade was already signed while Hipsher was the head coach. Cedric was KDs first recruit. After Alan Hanson pulled out, KD signed Cedric late spring. For Dials, I don't remember if he signed before or after Hipsher left. I seem to remember after, so he would have been the other KD recruit from that class.June 22, 2004AKRON, Ohio (Ticker) - Ohio State guard Nick Dials, who started nine games as a freshman last season, has transferred to Akron. The decision comes two weeks after Ohio State coach Jim O'Brien was fired for alleged recruiting violations. Under NCAA requirements, Dials has to sit out next season, then will have three years of eligibility remaining. He averaged 4.5 points, 2.1 assists and 1.4 rebounds last season. "Nick is a perfect fit for our program," Akron coach Keith Dambrot said. "He is the ultimate winner and was a player we really wanted out of high school. He has excellent skills and tremendous knowledge of the game." Dials attended Ohio State last fall as a walk-on, but was awarded a scholarship just before the start of the season.
  21. That was my favorite, too.
  22. I would think that the article about the Zips' plight in the New York Times (after the snub) may have helped a little.
  23. More respect for the Horizon League than the MAC, I guess.Go Zips! SF Austin at the JAR on my birthday would be priceless!
  24. Nice call sgm405Tallahassee!
  25. Right on...that piss (golden showers) yellow is exactly why it looked like K.S.U.cks had more fans.
