I would watch them at canal park. i wouldn't at the field they play at, at least not often. i love baseball, i've played for 16 years, but my high school field has more seating, nicer dugouts, and our facilities weren't even the cream of the crop in our district. the place sucks quite frankly, and i'm surprised they get any D-1 recruits to begin with. I think it's incredibly stupid not to share Canal park.

As it stands right now, we do not need a new arena. As awful as the JAR is, it is not sold out except for a couple of games a year. When seasons start to get sold out, then they should look at building a new arena. There is no long term evidence in sports proving that "if you build it, they will come". They might come for a season or two, but when the excitment ends over a new arena, the big crowds will end. Let's see what football attendance is in three years. The last thing UofA needs is a top notch bb program with a 9,000 seat arena that sits half full for 80% of the home games.like I said, in 10 years...

well be realistic, if there isn't a new arena in 10 years, someone dropped the ball. Either the team for sucking and not drawing fans, or the Athletics dept. for not building this team an arena.

looks like some sprinkler action on the endzone grass. I guarantee it will be in use for the season. I don't think they would tell everyone that's where the student section will be and then not have it ready.

Build it downtown. It's a 5 minute walk for students. Hell, a downtown arena would be closer to Grant Hall, Gallucci, Exchange, and 22 Exchange than an arena bordering Rt. 8 would be. Plus, there are bars for people to go to before/after the game. A stadium is a different monster, people hang out and tailgate all day, then go to the game. All in presumably nice, cool, fall weather. Basketball games- people show up, and hit the bars before or after the game. The weather sucks here in the Winter. No one is going to want to walk downtown to celebrate the big win if the arena is a 20 minute walk from downtown.

the intro in 07-08 was awesome. the one with requeim (spelling?) as the music. if that didnt get you pumped, then there's no hope. but they should also come up with some sweet player intros also. i wish they could turn off the lights, that always pumped up the crowd.

I think a pep rally would be awesome actually. something during the week so the team can be there to meet and greet/ get the fans pumped. have the band practice their walk through, people will love that. people can also tailgate and everything. then hold the actual rally inside the stadium. and let anyone in that wants in. it'll be a great time, you can practice the whole routine, and sell a bunch of tickets while you're at it.

really bad football combined with really bad records makes really bad attendance.

from what I recall, the one plan actually called for the arena to sit in the area from E state to E Exchange, which includes this building.This news, in essence, kills the idea of the arena in that area. In fact, this really kills the idea of a new arena for the forseeable future. Theres nowhere else that would work that i can see.that hasn't stopped us before
