  1. Yep. You make sure you have a scholarship. If you don't commit, somebody else might do it and then the school would pull your offer because they only take so many recruits at a position.
  2. Maybe. But Auburn is getting the most total votes of any mascot, over the course of the competition. Zippy is 3rd.
  3. Auburn fans are really, REALLY taking this thing seriously. Need to keep an eye on them.
  4. Can we PLEASE stop referring to players by some letter/number combo? I hate having to pull up a roster every time I want to decipher somebody's post.
  5. Is it really a question when the answer is obvious? Tell Chisholm to stop wasting time dancing around in the backfield or he'll get replaced. Hundley may not have that explosive threat, but he's solid and consistent, which is exactly what this offense needs right now. Bowden/Milwee have their run and pass philosophies at odds with each other. They want the run game to provide the big plays and the pass game to chip away at the defense.

  7. 6-6 240lb TE Trey Dunkelberger has committed to the Zips. Plays for Pierce CC in Woodland Hills, California. Added him to the list.
  8. It might have been arrogance on the part of the coaches. They may have known full well what it meant.
  9. http://www.hustlebelt.com/mac-football/2014/9/3/6101803/matt-johnson-injury-news-bowling-green-junior-qb-out-for-the-year With this news, Akron is essentially bumped up to being favorites to win the MAC East.
  10. The AD wanted to conduct a national search. Some important people wanted Embick. I don't see the current situation as his fault, though, I blame the players.
  11. Already dropped to 60-40. Get your daily votes in, and the weekly stuff if you can.
  12. The media and coaches usually just pick whoever looked good last season. That's where the hype comes from. In reality, replacing the head coach on an inconsistent team usually doesn't lead to immediate success.
  13. Realistically, none of those teams are so good that we can't beat them.
  14. Post-game, Bowden mentioned that the team didn't know how to play with a lead. He said something to the effect of "You need to be able to run the ball even when your opponent is expecting you to run it." We did no such thing. The OL didn't do a great job with run blocking, but once again Chisholm did himself no favors. To many stutter-steps before attempting to hit the hole. He can be dangerous once he gets to open space but he rarely gets to that point. At least we didn't see any more of those ineffective sweeps.
  15. Tomorrow is game day. I don't expect a great student turnout but I hope I'm wrong. Weather looks pretty nice, though.
  16. I figured you already knew this would happen. Maybe you just forgot. http://zipsnation.org/forums/topic/30449-akron-zips-marquette-golden-eagles/?p=213807
  17. I remember when he was suspended. Having watched that farce of a game in person, I say it was worth it.
  18. Just percentages. https://capitalonemascots.com/matchups
  19. Another important point is that you don't want to do all your weeklies (social media / challenge) early in the week. Save that stuff for near the end of the week in case we need to make a big push.
  20. As for submitting the challenge this week (pic of yourself grilling in school gear), we need to find out if it counts if we snap 20 pics as an album, and upload them all at once with the same hashtag caption. Also, for the social media thing, as well as the challenge, does it count for each social media platform (facebook, twitter, instagram)? If so, it's an easy to double your share points and triple your challenge points.
  21. They've changed the rules, in a very big way. Given certain Zips fans' love for tailgating, this should be a cinch. Vote here: https://capitalonemascots.com/mascots/mascot/zippy
  22. Just how high is Tree's ceiling?!
  23. Darius Hoisten has left to play for a DII squad in Georgia.
  24. Incredibly disappointing. Not even a decent premium fro locking into the deal for such a long term. Only half what the MAC is worth, and it gives even more distribution rights to ESPN.
  25. The old MAC deal was locked in at a stupidly low payout by the previous MAC commissioner. I'm pretty sure that's why he was replaced, in fact. If the new deal isn't worth at least $15 million annually, the MAC is getting short-changed. The AAC's deal is $20 million, the MWC's deal is worth $18 million, and C-USA's is $14 million per year. The MAC in its current state is between the MWC and C-USA in terms of football quality.
