  1. Discussion on a Georgetown forum from last year and early this year. http://hoyatalk2.proboards.com/index.cgi?b...2735&page=1
  2. I applaud the effort for trying something new to get fans in the seats for all sporting events and how flexible this is. AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron Department of Athletics and Rubber City McDonald's announced on Wednesday the launch of the "Zips All-Access 10-Pack" presented by McDonald's. This unique ticket package includes 10 vouchers, redeemable for general admission tickets to any 2011-12 regular-season home athletics contest for the Zips five ticketed sports as well as 10 buy-one, get-one-free breakfast or lunch extra value meal coupons at McDonald's – all for just $100. "This package allows Zips fans to supplement their season tickets by inviting additional guests to games, and offers families, businesses and community groups the flexibility to create their own Zips schedule to support all of our teams," said UA Director of Athletics Tom Wistrcill. "Those who purchase the 'Zips All-Access 10-Pack' can determine exactly which games they want to attend and how many people they want to bring with them. We are very appreciative of McDonald's making this offering even more valuable to our fans." The "Zips All-Access 10-Pack" presented by McDonald's is valued up to $200 for the tickets and the McDonald's offers. Vouchers must be exchanged at the Athletics Ticket Office for general admission tickets (based on availability). One voucher will be redeemed for one general admission ticket, except for the Can't State football and men's basketball games, which will require two vouchers to be exchanged for one general admission ticket. General admission tickets are available for football, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's soccer and women's soccer. All vouchers must be used for regular-season contests during the 2011-12 Zips athletics season. Those who purchase the "Zips All-Access 10-Pack" by June 3 will be eligible to purchase a ticket as part of the UA allotment to the Zips away games at intra-state opponents Ohio State (Sept. 3) and Cincinnati (Sept. 17). Fans will be eligible to purchase one ticket for each "Zips All-Access 10-Pack" purchased (maximum of four). The "Zips All-Access 10-Pack" presented by McDonald's, can be purchased online anytime at GoZips.com/tickets, or from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET on Mondays through Fridays by either calling 1-888-99-AKRON (25766) or visiting the Akron Athletics Ticket Office at InfoCision Stadium – Summa Field (located at 375 E. Exchange Street, near Gate 1 at the southwest corner of the venue, at the corner of E. Exchange and S. Union streets). Rubber City McDonald's operates 20 locations in northeast Ohio, including one at 246 East Exchange Street in Akron within walking distance of the Zips athletics facilities and ticket office. "As an alumnus and longtime supporter of the University, I have always loved the Zips," said John Blickle, president/owner Rubber City McDonald's. "We know this will be a great partnership to promote McDonald's and Zips Athletics and add value to our customers and fans."
  3. Desmar Jackson, Wyomings leading scorer from last year is transferring to Southern Illinois. http://siusalukis.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl.../041311aad.html Jackson went to Harding not St. V's. Daylen Harrison went to St. V's but I can't find where he is transferring.

  5. This should be interesting. http://northcarolina.scout.com/2/1056161.html
  6. For each 18 holes your top 4 out of the 5 scores count. They played 2 rounds today and will play 1 saturday and 1 sunday. It is going to take a nearly impossible finish to overtake Can't unfortunately. Can't shot lights out their second round and we trail by 28 shots. So our guys need to outscore their guys by 3-4 shots for the next 2 18 hole rounds. If 2 of the Can't guys get DQ'd they couldn't win. I guess we hope for that. http://www.golfstatresults.com//public/lea...ayers_2255.html
  7. I'm a little concerned about team chemistry with this guy Committed to St. Johns. http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/ncb/news/story?id=6443546
  8. I don't see any dead unicorns. I never noticed the palm trees next to the scoreboard before. I need to stop watching the beat down on the field and pay more attention to the beautiful Ohio scenary at the games.
  9. Looks like a done deal. http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/in...husetts_fo.html
  10. Wow, talk about impressive. Nice job, Zips!! Here are the final team scores. Quite impressive scores considering the weather. I went out today and played Chippewa and stopped keeping score but probably would have been around 120. I'm usually a bogey golfer and around 90. The wind was just nasty.
  11. They ended up winning by 10 shots over the 13th, 25th, 35th, 40th and 44th ranked teams in the country.
  12. Akron is currently first at the Illini Spring Classic featuring 10 Big 10 teams. The first day was supposed to be 36 holes but got shortened to 18 due to the weather. The final 18 is today and they are currently hanging onto a 1 shot lead over the host Illini. Live scoring can be seen here http://golfstatresults.com/public/leaderboards/team/static/team2525.html.
  13. I got the email too. I was expecting the addition of the Z-fund donation this year and feel that it is very reasonable. I will definately be renewing my chairbacks again.
  14. Remember that Genovesi also runs track for us. Even though his event wasn't on Saturday (he ran the 800 today), I wonder if he was with the track team since it was an actual tournament instead of an exhibition. It is weird if he played soccer last week and now isn't on the roster.
  15. Beaven updated the story to say the Zips have not offered a scholarship. They are only showing interest.
  16. We might be tapping the family pipeline similar to the Mcnights. I was doing a little googling and found this article on Blakes brother in 7th grade. 32 points, 10 boards and 4 assists. I know its early and who knows what will happen but maybe he will also be a future Zip. http://www.peoplesdefender.com/main.asp?Se...rticleID=130917
  17. According to Gaffney. http://www.ohio.com/sports/118414114.html
  18. I had one person back out, so I have 1 ticket for face value (about $83). PM me if interested.
  19. Just got a call that I got 4 tickets. I am not a donor or season ticket holder so others should be getting a call as well.
  20. Blake Justice's season has come to an end. I was hoping to go see him down in Columbus. Finished his prep career with a 27 point game at the OU Convocation Center. I think I would be more than happy if he averaged 27 points a game at the Convo the next 4 years. http://www.peoplesdefender.com/main.asp?Su...amp;SectionID=2
  21. If Zipsnation wants to show its voting support again, our little guy is entered in a contest that ends today at midnight. You can only vote for him once although you could vote for 10 different faces. He is #5 Drew. Thanks for your support. http://www.iheartfaces.com/2011/03/best-photo-february/
  22. You are correct if Western and Ball State hold on to their double digit halftime leads. I updated my scenarios above. Western would be the 2 seed if they win.
  23. I would say the 6 seed. We avoid Northern who seems to give us trouble. Also we would Miami in round 2 who of the bye teams (maybe besides Western), I think is our best matchup. Also hopefully Can't would beat Ohio cause I like the championship matchup with Can't better than Ohio. But ultimately, to be the best you have to beat the best, so we just need to win 4 games in 5 days.
  24. I think the Diggs ejection was because the ref was putting his hands on him and Diggs instinctively pushed his hands off him. Touching an official.
  25. Here is what I tried to do. Not sure if it accurate as I tried to do it quickly. 1. Can't 2. Western if they win or ball state loses; Ball State with a win and Western loss 3. Miami 4. Western if Ball State wins and Western loss; Ball State with a Ball State win and Western win; Ohio if Ball State loses (3 way tiebreaker over Akron and Ball State); 5. Akron if Ball State loses (3 way tiebreaker with Ohio and Ball State); Ohio if Ball State wins 6. Ball State if they lose (3 way tie, Ball 0-2, Akron 1-2, Ohio 3-0 vs. each other); Akron if Ball State wins 7. Buffalo if Central loses, BG if Central wins 8. BG if Central loses, Central if they win (3 way tie, Central 1-1, BG 2-1, Buffalo 1-2 vs. each other) 9. Central if they lose, Buffalo if Central wins (3 way tie, Central 1-1, BG 2-1, Buffalo 1-2 vs. each other) 10. Northern 11. Eastern 12. Toledo
