    Sort of similar story to one of the Zips own. After just three weeks, Adrian Coxson left Florida — the school, the team and the NFL dream — to go home to Maryland and help take care of my father (who become blind). I wouldn’t even say it was a tough decision. It was the only decision. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Forsythe has two eyes tattooed on his chest to represent his father, Patrick, who since high school has been battling a degenerative eye condition that has gradually taken his sight. His father's worsening eye sight is one of the main reasons why Forsythe elected to transfer from West Virginia University to The University of Akron three years ago.     If they do, you won't be the first in history to underestimate the importance of a quality QB making those other "pieces" look "good." According to CBS sports, the Zips will play against two of the top 9 QB NFL prospects this year.

    UMass's Blake Frohnapfel is the best QB you've never heard of He is Blake Frohnapfel from the University of Massachusetts, arguably the most promising yet least known quarterback in FBS. But that is likely to change this fall as he plays his final season at UMass.

He seemed fine for the spring game in April. I would like to know more. Another interesting quote from the same article: … Known for bringing in transfers during the fall camp, Bowden said there was nothing on the horizon for his team." PS I love Cody Grice. (see Keener's video above) He seems like he has a good time with his life. He seems proud to have grown up in the city and play for his city. With his talent and attitude, I would market that.     Pitt will have a chance to have a better atmosphere and weather. I know it's always a hard sell getting friends to games, since we beat the Panthers last year, it may be a little easier for you.     MAC Football Media Day will be shown on ESPN3. The broadcast will highlight the league's annual kickoff event from 1-3 pm this Wednesday, July 29th at Ford Field. Reghi and Dustin Fox will anchor ESPN3's coverage that will include interviews with commissioner Jon Steinbrecher and each of the conference's 13 head football coaches. Select students from around the league will also be interviewed. More info here. Coach Bowden, Jatavis Brown and Cody Grice will attend. Will Cody speak more about scoring or defending?

    Nice writeup. "The Zips hope Tommy Brown (Firestone) will be able to realize some of his potential under the tutelage of new offensive line coach Darrell Funk." I root for another team in another league that changed offensive line coaches. The line went from one of the worst, to one of the best in less than a year. I hope this is the case for the Zips this year. A successful line will go a long way in helping many of our offensive struggles.

Switching From "A" to "Z" Adopting a new logo has been discussed for months with athletes, coaches and other university constituents, said George Van Horne, associate athletics director."Moving to the 'Z' logo separates us from those other schools and makes us more recognizable," he said. Reaction to the new identity is mixed on zipsnation.org, a blog for UA fans.

    Barrett's Job to Lose: Barrett will win the job, sooner or later. And probably sooner. Barrett, will be a full go when preseason camp begins in August. That means Barrett will be in a full sprint to catch Jones, who has opened a big lead considering he’s been the only healthy Buckeyes QB since Barrett went down. Several coaches indicated they believe that Barrett, a redshirt sophomore from Texas, will retake the starting job during August camp or early in the season, at the latest. “He’s the guy. He’s a dog,” one coach familiar with the Buckeyes' situation said. “The [team] recognizes what kind of player and leader [barrett] is and they’ll rally behind him and play for him. It’s nothing against those other guys, who are very, very talented, but [barrett] is the total package. He’s got to be the guy.”

    2015 NFL QB Tier Rankings A voting panel of 35 league insiders. The process was straightforward: The coaches and evaluators I polled placed each of the 32 projected starters into one of five tiers, with Tier 1 reserved for the very best and Tier 5 reserved for the very worst. Carr (20) This relatively high ranking for an unestablished player reflects a fair amount of projection from voters excited about the potential they've seen to this point. Bridgwater (23) Bridgewater made it into the third tier after a 13-game rookie season featuring 14 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions. That's not bad, but it's tough not to notice how much Bridgewater lagged behind Carr, his fellow 2014 rookie, in this survey. Bortles (27) Bortles played sooner than anticipated and got very little support, making it tougher to evaluate him fairly. Voters were not particularly critical of Bortles, but that doesn't mean they were optimistic, either. For reference, Manziel did not make the list, but the guy that will more than likely be the starting QB on his team (at the beginning of the season) is listed at (29).
