  1. Akron has been practicing indoors with the fans off trying to emulate the possible heat conditions (per coach Bowdens weekly presser). PS Can you (pphilfran) stop back after the game to give your take on the game at some point? Many of our members (including myself) enjoy reading from a different perspective.
  2. Now that the depth chart is out, I'm anxious to see new starter, and redshirt freshman Kyron Brown play.
  3. If anybody has Fire TV (or other android) and is proficient with sideloading apks, I'm guessing Live Stream Player will have the game. All starting WRs listed at 210 lb or above...lots of blocking power?!? Zipsoutsider posted this above, but missed a dash between "mac" and "sports". It's fixed now, but here is the direct link too... TB Interview on the game.
  4. Lemon Dropped.
  5. Thanks for the review. If your QB has turnover issues, our defense should expose that. That will be something we will have to do to compete. Don't worry about your defenses coverage skills, but they better be ready to tackle...a lot. PS If Westbrook catches a quick pass, near #1, he better get down quick.
  6. I would be shocked if he makes that practice squad. His team has bigger issues on the other side of the ball and probably won't have room for him. He's getting a shot there because he's a local guy, but maybe some other team has a need at that position that can fit him on their squad.
  7. Khalil embarrassed Ohio State's offensive line in his big game of the year legitimizing himself as one of the top picks in the draft. Hopefully Jatavis can do the same against Oklahoma. It's a shame that even if scouts eventually get to see the game, most college football fans won't due to Oklahoma's silly PPV. JB's tape against Pitt last year is nice one to have for scouts to look at. The day Khalil got $paid$.
  8. I think it's a hard comparison between Akron football fans vs Pittsburgh baseball fans. It amazes me how effective any giveaway at a Pirates game is...like you wrote, even when they stunk. Demographics. AM radio is inexpensive for a reason.
  9. Nope. A few years back, my wife's sporting organization bought a advertising package that included print, billboard and KNR advertising extremely inexpensive.
  10. Years ago, my new years resolution was to stop complaining about this subject. One of the best resolutions of my life.
  11. Put me in this category. I also think you would have to consistently do it, and market it before you can judge an actual attendance comparison. Most fans assume the Zips are playing the cupcakes since we have been doing just that. Pahlease. If a tree falls in the woods...
  12. Nirvana for College Football Uniform Geeks Skip directly to the MAC
  13. According to coach Bowden (multiple times this offseason), it's going to be the guy that doesn't turn the ball over.
  14. And this guy...for now. Has Zach even made a catch? I have been out of town for awhile, and haven't been able to watch all the preseason like I usually do.
  15. Aggressive CB play? Let's turn it into some play action success.
  16. Pretty cool. Products of ZipsNation.
  17. Entertaining thread. I like everyone's answers. Can I answer twice? If the answer is yes, today I'll go with a group (Zips instead of Zip). The offensive group. I can't wait to see our new offense and how it preforms, and who flourishes in it. If the answer is no, see below. I'll go with a group (Zips instead of Zip). The offensive group. 18. How this would escape any Zips fan is beyond me. It's obvious the Zips aren't going to get top 40 teams to play at the JAR. Fans (who don't go to every game no matter who the opponent) want to see competitive entertaining games. There are plenty of those teams that can be scheduled. Blaming everything on the JAR is old and tired.
  19. GREAT news. I hope this translates during game time.
  20. Connor wasn't even the best running back on the field that day. He was handcuffed by predictable play calling (run, run, pass), and an awful display at the quarterback position. If we were a better team last year, we could have killed them. I expect two totally different game plans this year. Very intriguing matchup. Will be fun to see if the new AD will reach out to the local community to garner support.
  21. Chapman will have most to do with the success or failure of our season. After seeing him run the vanilla offense in the spring game, I'm dying to see him run our real offense. Not that I won't enjoy it, but I have a good idea of what the other side of the ball will look like.
  22. Ibrahim out for season with Achilles injury. He only had one carry against us last year, but it was a ten yard carry.
  23. It can only get better. It can't possibly be worse. I'm optimistic.
  24. Looks like he was recruited as a safety. While he was interested in four other MAC schools (Miami, WMU, UB & UT), Akron was not one of them.
