What was worse than the fumble was rushing that play when the previous one was a TD. Staff just had to give refs time to look at it. One of the biggest boneheaded offensive calls I have seen. Pretty obvious on a low res ESPN3 feed. UMass is pathetic.

All you have to do is throw the ball to him. He could have a good week every week. Zach has been our most consistant receiver...given the chance.

AJ makes a call a few of us have been begging for. Fake to Cody, and it results in a touchdown....well it should have been one, except TE tries to catch the ball with his chest.

When you lose the potential Mac POY, yes, it hurts the team and it's fans. This should not amaze you yesterday, or today, or even if you copy the same post tomorrow. Will the team rally around this controversy or crumble? Experienced fans (and even unexperienced fans) are going to discuss it even before it has been decided. The effect should come in to focus at the end of January like most seasons. Since there is a history of KD losing top players in his lineup, he does have some experience dealing with the situation. So the Zips have that going for them. At the very least we have a chance to see if, and how the offensive and defensive game plans changes without Tree in the lineup. With this news, that part is interesting to me. Too bad that is not being discussed more. Good luck.

What personnel package will the Zips run the majority of the time? My prediction is based on the answer. Sixteen degrees at kickoff with 15 mph winds. Again I say, make AJ stand down on the field to call plays so he gets a feel for the conditions. This ain't Alabama.

Yes, the play calling should have adjusted too. It did not. Hard to fly like an eagle...

If we had half of the talent they have on that side of the ball we could run it all they want. Play is made for when the talent level is so much more skilled on the outside than the opponent. That is pretty far from the case right now. My bubble would have to have air to be "burst."

We run 10, and 11 as our base. we run some 12, but not enough. Once in a while we line up with 01 personnel, but not often enough to even mention. I've covered this multiple times over the course of the season. We need a talent upgrade at the offensive skill positions in the worst way if we are going to continue on this personnel path.

For the love of gawd, the Steelers have the best WR in the league and a top QB, and the stupid play resulted in a turnover against the lowly Jets. It's a stupid play that I can't wait until the NFL adapts out. T minus whenever and counting...

Only way that stupid play is halfway decent, is if you fake it, and get one on one coverage, or no coverage on the receiver next to the WR faking. This works because EVERY defense is aware of this dumb play. BUT (and this is a big one) you have to actually block people, the QB has to pump fake the short throw, then make an accurate throw with the football down field (wild concept). Then the receiver actually has to catch it. On top of that, you would need to call the play at the proper time and place on the field. I think it's asking way to much for our struggling offense. Just throw an incomplete pass over someones head on first down, run the ball into the back of the offensive line on second down, and throw at someones feet on third down. Hope the other team muffs the punt, and kick the field goal. That's what we are good at.

You are correct, but if we continue to run this "offense", I think we need multiple guys with his ability. He was recruited for the 'Y' position, a tight end/wide receiver hybrid.

Good points UA87. One I would add to your list would be MTB. He seems to be the only "down field" threat we have. What is his injury? The lack of offensive game planning, and the play calling just can't be ignored anymore. I actually saw our other receiver knock a ball down after he didn't catch it. That was special.

Still think it was Anthone Taylor that got the coach fired? I saw a hard runner with a low pad level that keeps his legs moving and doesn't give up on any plays. 32 attempts last night. That's a grinder I would take on my team. BTW, He is 13th in the nation in rushing yards now.

I blame this thread. Worst topic ever. The Buffalo Bulls, NOT THE BUFFALO BILLS, rolled up 536 yards on offense with 310 coming in the running game as UB running back Anthone Taylor racked up 178 yards. Taylor had close to 100 by the half. Even his backup Jordan Johnson got into the act, crossing the century mark with 104 yards rushing.
