  1. After this guy's success, I just keep predicting.
  2. The job would be a drop in salary, but not as big a drop as Fickell's would be. Knowing nothing about nothing, I'll predict a guy on Ken+ State's staff.
  3. Thanks for the post, good to know. Was DIG wearing his "I heart Tressel" shirt when questioning?
  4. That is exactly what coach Larrañaga did before the Akron game. He explained how he attacked a certain defense and the options his team has. If you google it, there is video. You can also google coach Huggins explaining the way he attacks certain defenses. Roy Williams, Tom Izzo, etc... When you have good plays, there are options depending on how the defense reacts. Defenses can know exactly what your doing, and if it's run correctly and the shot is hit, there is nothing they can do. It's not a secret, it's just entertaining to see the coach go over it. Every opponent has tape of what Akron does. Nobody is asking for the game plan to the PSU game, just a few plays that we have success with. Educating your own fans can go a long way. For having two of the most talkative coaches around, Akron does an awful job with letting them provide fans with intelligent information.
  5. Seems like he is better at firing coaches than raising money for basketball arenas. He's recruited a great QB from Florida to play at Marshall, imagine what he could do coaching in Florida.
  6. Care to expand? I got this explanation from a staff member years ago. I Would love to see KD with a whiteboard on his show going over some plays, and giving his thoughts the way coach Larrañaga did during the Charleston tournament.
  7. Complete story found here. Akron, Can't State football teams both benefit from unintended break “It’s a chance to take this program to another level,” he said. “Will it be a step backward? That’s in the eye of the beholder. We are building a program here and the next step — it’s a rivalry game. It’s big no matter what because you want to go out and win your rivalry game. “But a chance for us to take another step forward is always big. It’s always something you want to do.” The “step forward” would be a 6-6 record, enough for the team to be bowl eligible. “We’re keyed in for this football game,” Bowden said. “It’s a chance to win six games. We haven’t done that in a long time and we sure want to get there. Right now, we’re focused on that game and doing everything we can to win that game.” A 6-6 record would represent the team’s best since 2005, and a bowl appearance would be the Zips’ first since 1985. Right now, all of the guaranteed MAC-affiliated bowls are filled, but getting there is an accomplishment, Bowden said.
  8. PSU is favored by three and a half. Per my above link. You can get another half point some places. It's a TRAP! Kwan Cheatham could present the biggest problem for the Nittany Lions in their biggest area of weakness right now. The 6-9 forward is averaging 2.0 blocks to go along with his 10.3 points per contest and will give Penn State's frontcourt a test they'll need to pass in order to pull out a win.Much like the USC game, there's no reason to stray from predicting a close, sloppy game. It'll be another frustrating watch but I expect PSU to pull through in the end, 62-60.
  9. Robert Stein was named the Mid-American Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for the East Division today. Another perfect hold from ZD11
  10. Look here tomorrow once the sportsbooks open up in Vegas (pacific time zone).
  11. A thread is already started on Tree's suspension. Feel free to discuss there.
  12. This will go down in nobody's record book other than mine. Yesterday in the NFL two players (Josh Cribbs and Julian Edelman) from the same MAC team scored special teams touchdowns only to have penalties erase BOTH. This happened at the same time. I watch three and sometimes four NFL games at once on Sunday's, and I happen to see both at the same time. This has never happened in the history of football...as far as I know. Then in the third quarter, Edelman had a 74-yard punt return for a touchdown nullified early on by an illegal block by Patrick Chung. The play was nullified because Gordy was called for unnecessary roughness on the play. “You could kind of see the legs, a little bit wobbly, but good enough to take one to the house,” coach Chuck Pagano said. “It was unfortunate that we had the call on the play that we got. It was good. It was good energy and it was good for our return game. I'm glad we've got Cribbsy on our team.
  13. Entertaining games in Charleston. I don't know what changed with the ball movement this year, but I love it. I have seen more backdoor cuts from this team in one week, than I saw all last year. All of a sudden players away from the ball are moving to the proper spots on the floor? We actually have players that can drive the lane, and finish at the rim? We make foul shots? Did we finally dumb down the offense? Please bring this same team back from Charleston. I don't really care that the Gamecocks and Trojans aren't that good, I enjoyed watching the Zips beat both. I have minor critics, but it seems picky at this juncture of the season. I'll save them. We need to continue to grow and get better. NR14 makes a huge difference.
  14. Should be interesting. If I had Monday and Tuesday off I would go, but I took Wednesday off since I'm going to the Zips game Tuesday night in Ken+....DOH!!!! Bills Expect Packed Ford Field. "It's incredible to think that that many tickets have been distributed in that short period of time," Bills president Russ Brandon said Saturday night. "We're looking forward to a robust house that night, and hopefully we'll have a lot of Bills fans in there as well." The capacity of Ford Field is 65,000, but Brandon does not expect fans to be turned away. "With free tickets, your no-show rate has a tendency to be higher," Brandon said. The Bills are offering full refunds for fans who held tickets to Sunday's originally scheduled game at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Even if fans receive a refund, they can use those tickets at Ford Field on Monday night.
  15. The point guard, Tyrone Johnson is the team's only senior, and he suffered fractured foot in January that required surgery.
  16. Sunday at 6:30 on ESPNU Here is the ESPN preview.
  17. That would be the biggest selling point you could tell me. I'm sold. Not that GP1 didn't do a fantastic job. I was really disappointed to look at a map and see that Cajun Field in Lafayette is one hundred and fifty miles from N'awlins. Considering (football) roady to Oklahoma instead.
  18. I really like Jim Larrañaga. ESPN played a recorded spot before both Zips games where coach Larrañaga explained how he attacks a zone defense. Well coached team. I would love it if they set this type of thing up for JJ and KD on the Zips show. I really didn't know much about coach Larrañaga, but I'm going to start to take a little more notice now. Miami coach Jim Larranaga welcomed nine newcomers to his team this season, including seven players who are wearing orange and green uniforms for the first time ever. Considering that Davon Reed, one of his two returnees from last season, is injured, it's easy to see how daunting a challenge he faced. It would appear the hard part is over after the Hurricanes' 69-67 upset win at No. 8 Florida on Monday. Larranaga spoke with ESPN.com about how he's gotten a team of strangers to work together. PS This is the most movement I have seen out of the Zips offense in years. Hope it continues and GROWS.
  19. Miami favored by nine and a half. Per ESPN recap: "We know as a squad we can compete with a high major," said Cheatham, who added seven rebounds and two assists. "We always come in like, `This is the game we've got to get." The Zips may have some more opportunities given the Charleston Classic field, which includes Miami of the Atlantic Coast Conference, Penn State of the Big Ten Conference and South Carolina of the Southeastern Conference. "We'll be ready," Cheatham said.
  20. Yes, game is at 2:30 pm. I'm not sure what stats you want but here are some. In 2010 the Zips played Miami who was favored by six and a half, Miami won by eight.
  21. Joe Haden was there too. I think he is at half the Cleveland sporting events I go to. He has really taken to the Cleveland scene.
  22. This isn't up to date, but it should help you. Article updated: November 17, 2014 6:40 pm ET
  23. I don't see a line yet. I would expect it to be more than 7. In KD's history at Akron, he has never defeated a team when more than a 7 point underdog. Opportunity knocks.
  24. Right. Be glad you don't attend many games at the JAR, you think it's bad reading about the refs on ZN, you should hear the JAR sometimes. Embarrassing. I was convinced when they stopped the game and showed the refs going to security it was a Zips fan.
  25. USC was as advertised, young and sloppy. I agree with you though, the Zips had a built in excuse to lose. Instead, it looked like an energized team with something to prove. If they can play with a chip on their shoulder, they might continue to be fun to watch. How do we solve our continued offensive dry spells?
