  1. True, some coaches make it pretty easy on their players by letting them put the little round ball through the hole. Some coaches try to prove how smart they are and confuse their team with a bunch of multiple offenses. Let's hope Richman confuses his team with a real complex system. David Richman was named the 23rd head men's basketball coach in North Dakota State University history on April 8, 2014. Richman, 36, was a Bison assistant coach for two seasons before being elevated to associate head coach under Saul Phillips for the 2007-08 season. Saul is now with the Bobcats. In the "experience" category, KD gets the check mark. ☐ Richman___vs___☑ Dambrot In the efficient shaving category, Richman fills the square. ☑ Richman___vs___ ☐Dambrot The Zips are underdogs to a first year 36 year old coach!?!? Ouch.
  2. Impossible for me to judge success from someones highlights film, but there are a few things I like about the film. He looks to have hand strength, he does a good job catching the ball away from his body. I also like that he seems more physical than our typical receiver, he doesn't shy away from contact, and doesn't go down with a mild breeze. He also looks to be familiar with our sideways offense...he can catch a bubble screen...sad. I wish I would have seen how he handles contact at the line, he won't run so free at Akron.
  3. Must have meant something.
  4. The University of Akron men's basketball team will hold its Ninth-Annual Teddy Bear Toss during its home contest with Middle Tennessee tonight. Zips favored by seven.
  5. Well written Marla. Good luck Tree. “I want to win big, but I want some peace of mind,” Dambrot, 56, said Thursday after a victory over Western Illinois. “I’m older and I deserve that. Ultimately, I get judged on that. I don’t want that reputation. That’s not the way I run my business.” “I’m almost refreshed. It’s almost like I’m completely cleansed,” Dambrot said. “I like our group. At the end of the year, we may not win as many games, maybe we will. But it’s almost like I feel I can do my thing now. Before, I felt a little handcuffed at times. [With] this group, I can be myself.”
  6. New coach is going to have to bring his team to Infocision early September to play a hungry Zips team. Tough job. Will the highest paid assistant in the MAC shut them down again? 1. Chuck Amato, Akron – $199,0002. Tom Masella, Massachusetts – $194,0003. Jon Heacock, Toledo – $175,0004. Jay Niemann, Northern Illinois – $168,0005. Kevin Kelly, Ball State – $145,000 Not worth starting a new thread, but interesting information. SOURCE
  7. Four of the "super six" transfers get mentioned at the 14 minute mark for those of you unaware. QB Tra'Von Chapman DB AJ Coney DB Larry Hope DE Jamal Marcus RB Donnell Alexander DT Rodney Coe "We need to do things offensively more productive, that's where we need to step in and look at it really close" --coach Bowden
  8. Bowden Indicates Pohl's Days are Numbered. by EA of the PD "There's always open competition, and at quarterback we will have competition,'' Bowden said. "Nobody dominated that position. It's as wide open as any other position."
  9. That is AWSOME!!! Nice job Lil John. Here is some more footage during practice.
  10. ZN used to have more objective basketball posters, but they wore out years ago. NCAA? I would settle for a run in the NIT. Way too early to predict, but I like this teams chances from what I see. We are finally playing some team ball that I think has a chance for success in the NIT. Anything can happen, but I'm tired of the Zips getting a low seed and getting waxed in the NCAA, I'm rooting for MSG now a days. Think smaller™.
  11. I am really considering all factors here. It's hard, because the MAC has been soooo good to us, but I have to weigh our dominance of the league too. Right now I have it at a dead heat. This answer to my question will push me one way or the other. If someone can research, I'll check the appropriate box.
  12. Does Reghi announce any CUSA games?
  13. Why did you not start the thread, instead of posting multiple times in multiple threads? You started this one complaining with in inappropriate thread title. Nobody was "woken up." Everybody has been well aware of the issue. Like I have replied multiple times, contact Mr. Wistrcill, he responds to thoughtful written emails, and it's HIS JOB, not ZN's. Please inform us in this thread what knowledge you gain.
  14. Agreed. Congratulations, I enjoyed watching all four this season. When I see the below photo, it reminds me of the faces of the guys after the Pitt game. That's the moment I'm taking away from this season.
  15. Thank you for starting this thread. From now on, any complaints in the game threads about the video will now be moved to here or deleted (if it just says "video sucks"). Yes, the video is not good. Everybody at ZN knows this. No need to fill every game thread with the same thing over and over. ZN members are tired of reading it. ZN has zero control over the feed. Contact the proper people. Carry on...in this thread.
  16. Here are the highlights. I always thought the general defensive philosophy of "knock it down" on the hail mary pass was inaccurate. Disturb the flightpath of the ball. I don't care how you do it. If the ball is in front of you, great, send it to the ground, but if it's over your head and the receiver is behind you, it's just not smart to try to "knock it down". I blame ESPN talking heads.
  17. 16 turnovers don't stop the Rockets from knocking off CSU.
  18. Nice! You might want to send that to Frenchy, during the broadcast he said "man, I would like to see a replay of that one!"
  19. Anyone ever tailgate for a Chargers game? One of the cooler NFL tailgating venues IMO. You almost don't want to walk into the game. I say we set up something similar at the Rubber Bowl next year during the games.
  20. Thanks for making me aware, I have yet to see him play, but his stats look impressive. Makes me want to attend the January 27th game.
  21. Best part of the game so far is listening to Frenchy and Dunn's open mics during commercial.
  22. For posters that like to discuss the games officiating. Critics, who is assigned to the game, security breaches, overall college basketball officiating, who calls the most fouls, who calls the least fouls, whatever you like to discuss that pertains to the striped shirt guys. This is THE place to do it. Enjoy.
  23. I'm not seeing the purpose of locking this. If I do, it will get pushed to the bottom and not read. If something is inappropriate it will get deleted like everything else. You would be surprised how many people read without commenting. I'm sure some will miss reading your thoughts even though they don't post about it. I will miss your analysis on Zips games. Not that I agreed with everything, but I appreciated your unique posting style. If you don't enjoy something, it's not worth doing. Maybe someday you will find the Zips enjoyable again and decide to return. You are always welcome here if you change your mind. Good luck.
  24. Since there is no line, he doesn't have to worry. Central Michigan beat them by 32, while OU beat them by 9. I would guess we will fall somewhere in between.
